Sadly there is only so much that can be used in a 1'30" package without reflecting any bias or changing the story from the protest to Kevin Smith was protesting.
Dogma is one of my favorite KS films… The fact that you cannot hardly find it anywhere is just depressing. The film is brilliant! I still have a “Buddy Jesus” action figure!
"Are you the guy?" "No, I get that all the time." I did too. Back in the 1990s a lady who checked out books from my library said I looked just like her new grandson-in-law who lived in Jersey and directed those wacky curse-word movies.
The saddest thing is how hard it is to get ahold of the movie nowadays. Was such a great one and I am bummed I didn't pick it up when I had the chance.
A cut version of this film is TH-cam. Has been for two years but not from TH-cam, I'm amazed it lived without getting claimed and struck, but some stuff is cut out.
Darth Veritaz, having studied early christianity I'm always amazed that Life Of Brian is far more accurate in the depiction of that time than most other movies. Even with the Samurai and the alien ship.
They are both extremely funny but I remember all the controversy surrounding The Life Of Brian at the time of its release, I guess religion saps you of a sense of humour.
Lot of people are talking shit about Kevin now with the whole He man thing but he’s a great dude. Tells stories very well. There are so many great actors in Dogma. Ben and Matt, George Carlin, Salma Hayek, Jason Lee, Chris Rock, and Alanis Morrisette. Idk how to spell her name I guessed lol. Alan Rickman as well of course.
I saw Dogma in the cinema it was an incredible experience. Quite unlike anything else I've seen since. Sheltered white kids have a tendency to revere bad comedy? Is that what ur trying to say? And is Kevin the “fake” comedian in your premise? I’m not sure I follow.

The saddest thing is how hard it is to get ahold of the movie nowadays. Was such a great one and I am bummed I didn't pick it up when I had the chance.
You can actually find the film on TH-cam, someone posted it and so far it hasn’t been taken down
Dude I just watched it here a week ago!
I got in on DVD a couple years back but it had permenant Mandarin subtitles and the box was all in Mandarin. Finding it on youtube is so much better.
Full movie is available on TH-cam: th-cam.com/video/7ZVEe_5Fo1Q/w-d-xo.html
I saw this in my film and theology class. I loved Dogma. Respect for Kevin Smith
My inner skeptic wanted to assume it was just a story, but the actual newsclip fucking killed me
Oh its so awesome you put the news cast at the end. That was legit
I rewatched Dogma the other day. I've always thought that it and Clerks are his 2 best movies.
Thanks for including the news clip!
the news footage at the end had me dying lmao
A cut version of this film is TH-cam. Has been for two years but not from TH-cam, I'm amazed it lived without getting claimed and struck, but some stuff is cut out.
One of my top 5 movies. I loaned the DVD to my Christian friend and warned him to watch it with an open mind.
GeraldRisch I'm catholic and it's one of my fave films. It's just a movie
IMO, Life of Brian is a far better heretical film. 👍
Darth Veritaz, having studied early christianity I'm always amazed that Life Of Brian is far more accurate in the depiction of that time than most other movies. Even with the Samurai and the alien ship.
Eliphas Leary ROFL yesssssssssssss! Gotta love the attention to detail those Python lads had.
They are both extremely funny but I remember all the controversy surrounding The Life Of Brian at the time of its release, I guess religion saps you of a sense of humour.
The real story is that the news opened saying that 15 people is a "huge controversy".
This is legendary. I really wish he gave a wink and handed her a note saying, say nothing, we'll take later.
9:05 there is CLEARLY no fuggin sparkles kevin!
including all the podcasts and movies of his career, this tiny news segment is among the funniest shit he's ever done
I've seen Dogma like 10 times. It's one of my ATF films. I was raised Catholic & get all the insider catholic jokes.
This man is a STORYTELLER holy fuck
LOVE that we get to see the newscast!!!
xoxo The Clarences
"Huge amount of controversy"
"15 50-60 yo protestors"
Yeah okay.
That wasn't the only protest......
I loved Dogma. Laughed my ass off. I wish I could see it again.
youre in luck...., tonight on netflix.....hulu
Should be on TH-cam
I saw Dogma in the cinema it was an incredible experience. Quite unlike anything else I've seen since. A movie that emotes great reactions from the audience so was definitely worth seeing in the cinema on release. I got it on dvd sometime after that and have it to this day. It's a brilliant film and his all round best imo
Opening credits have disclaimer - ample warning. Funny and Educational movie. I went to Catholic school and an Altar boy. I never laughed so hard as I did when I finally saw the Exorcist when I was19. Buddy Jesus save us all.!!!
Baaaahahahahaha!!! I never knew this and it's absolutely hilarious! ESPECIALLY the actual broadcast at the end!! LMAO! Well done, Mr. Smith! Well done. I found Dogma to be quite entertaining myself, back in 1999.
This guy is awesome. I really like the movie Dogma as well I've been trying to find it on DVD I have it on VHS
It’s on youtube
that news clip is just gold
Dogma is one of my favorite movies ever.
Kevin Smith aka Silent Bob. Do a Dam Dogma sequel
Little Nicky?
How often do you see an audience that engaged and glued in on the speaker?
Kevin’s always had that talent, and I don’t think it’s attributed to him as much as it should be. That’s why he took to stand-up comedy pretty effortlessly: he’s already a terrific, and consummate public speaker.
Every time there are sheltered white kids around. Pity they will never know REAL comedic genius.
Sheltered white kids have a tendency to revere bad comedy? Is that what ur trying to say?
And is Kevin the “fake” comedian in your premise?
I’m not sure I follow.
@@RobertELee420 PETER HAS QUESTIONS ROBERT
it used to happen more often in former times.... people used to enjoy listening to good stories ....
Its vocal bob
Lawl
Any relation to Sideshow Bob?
I didn’t believe a word of this because it was too funny and too perfect to be true. And then the damn news clip played
Just watched Kevin tell this story and now seeing it I believe he deserves some kind of an award for how epic this really was. LOL
Kevin: I'm bored, do you wanna go and protest the movie?.
Friend: WTF lol?, Hell yeah let's go!. But first we gotta make signs with glitter and stuff you know what I mean lol?.
Kevin: Yeah we're definitely doing this now. 😂😂
This is the best joke ever. A lot of people like truthfully comedy, you know it's truthful but it got a hint of a ridiculousness or a ridiculous prescriptive. This is 100% real and verified to be real. I guess I'm saying I liked the video it made me laugh a lot.
This should be on the dogma dvd
Dogma is probably my favorite Kevin Smith movie. It's excellent
That was without a doubt legendary.
My all-time favorite show biz story.
Can you imagine if it was a live broadcast and Jay was interviewed? All those grandma's would faint clean away.........
this is so perfect. I love Kevin Smith.
Love how the media points out he looks and sounds exactly like the creator of the film
