I have had a simple riff in my head for the past 30-ish years, and whilst I keep playing about with it every so often I have never known what to do with it. Mainly because I had been looking at it as though it was there backing to a wider piece.
Realisation hit me like a tonne of bricks after watching this. The riff is the melody that now requires a bass line and backing. All of a sudden I can see a route forward to complete it.
With the way my spare time is it may take me another 30 years to get around to finishing it. But regardless, thank you for being the spark that I needed to hear it a different way.

I hope to hear your riff and all other supporting or complementing musical ideas. Don’t fear criticism my friend, complete your work so that we can enjoy and you can be validated and continue to produce from your musical mind.

@@aaronmichaud1 thank you for your kind words of encouragement. If I do manage to make something with it, and TH-cam still exists, I will likely upload it. But it really is likely to be years from now.
Even though I've been playing with it in my mind most days since writing my comment above... Well, put it this way - in the story of the hare and the tortoise - I am the oft forgotten third race entrant, the snail.

Glad you liked it! I have to think about it. The challenge for me these days is not to come up with ideas - I have literally come up with hundreds of demos like these - but to turn them into full, proper compositions. Many times I find myself in the situation where I don't know how to proceed and no matter what I try nothing seems to work. But no worries, there's an album in the making which will be released next autumn.

Among the performance of the synthesizers of the various brands that came on the market from the 70s, 80s and onwards, the brand that I personally appreciate is Roland, and in each group or musical band that used it in their musical production, there was no lack of this brand and that sounds very pleasant to the ear.

I tried the 444 challenge today on my 'slightly' cheaper Yamaha MOXF6, using 4 sounds and ran out of time on the first take. Managed 3 sounds. Came up with some nice chords, then frustratingly forgot them when I hit record and ended up with something that sounded nothing like the original chords. Not as easy as it looks. Kebu makes it look easy. This video, along with his others is the perfect example of the synergy between man and machine.
