Great to see Fenit....fished it loads when I was a youngster. Barrow harbour I find is much better which is only around the corner, just off the castle.
normally a cracking spot. Was there the day before you and a beach across from it for a day or 2 beforehand and the fishing just has not been the same as it normally is for myself there. thanks for the video and I hope the north brings better results
Im originally from the uk but live here now in killorglin when ur fishing grounds here i find for lures ur best with a texas rig ground can be so rough and certain times of the year weed can be a nightmare i never fish fenit i find its just too busy a lot of times with guys fishing for mackerel
Same problem with the crabs down West Wales, Spiders I reckon they are in their numbers this time of year. Changed over to my lure rod with my trusty Westin Salty lures and landed 7 Pollock best one being 5lb. All returned. Tight lines.
Eazy Alex you ok pal, unlucky mate. Lovely mark n surroundings. The humber on fire the last 2 or 3 weeks mate. Tell Jack his driving looked ok lol. All the best from G.Y
Jacks driving is already better than sarahs, and he can't reach the pedals 😂 I'm heading to the holderness this week so let's hope there's some fish about. Doesn't seem to be any colour
Is the airpower worth the extra expense over the fury Nice view across the sea....... fishing is not all about catching it is great just to get out and chill Won't be that long until the little one wants a go fishing......... you could give him a crab line and see the joy when he pulls them out
It all depends on your type of fishing mate. I honestly think you won't beat the fury for the price, but the airpower is a different animal with a lot more power for rough ground or big fish. There are rods in-between too, i think im right in saying; fury - airspeed - airtorque - airpower - creed. I'm going to try and borrow the full range and do a comparison video
Looks some cracking scenery there buddy. Still want to fish in Ireland some day but living in North Wales I can't justify how expensive it is these days to take the car over 🙄. Just had my quickest session ever this evening, 2 keeper Bass in 20 minutes so went home after that, job done until the morning 👍
Stunning place mate, I'll definitely be going back. But like you say it does sting having to pay the ferry prices. I was looking this week at foot passenger prices and then renting a car, but with accommodation rather than sleeping in the van, it works out about the same.
From colhurst51 Took me back.to.1970,s.Used to be top.mark for monkfish ( the original.ones.now called.angel.sharks).best.I had 42lbs. How things change Cheers love your videos now disabled & can't fish.
Story of the world these days unfortunately mate. A good cod is 5-6lb these days, you're over the moon. Then someone comes in the comments saying that's not a big cod I've had 30lbers from the shore back in the 70s 😅🤦🏻♂️
Was also a great spot for shore fishing for Skate. Was full of Undulate Rays. I think they still get the odd one. From the boats anyway. But it was a real hotspot for Undulates and as you say Monkfish. At least you got to fish it when it was still producing decent fish. I only read about it as a Kid. 😂 Sorry to hear the mobility is gone. Keep on keeping on.
@@theawfulangler no bother at all but most of shore fishing is same here ..youghal pier throws up nice ray and bass most of yr and cod in winter months if any good to ya 👍
You going to mayo Alex ? It’s in the west of Ireland and I can show u a few marks that will hopefully have some fish and maybe a session if u fancy it ?
Back in the 60s I saw the most massive common skate I've ever seen in my life caught off Fenit Pier. Too big to land it had to be cut off. Doubt such things exist there now.
The wife and i were routing for you my mate, don't like your wife using that type of language in front of your son, they soon pick it up. Well done for your patients here. Chris. 🐟🐟🐟🐟🐟🐟🐟🐟🐟🐟🐟
Cheers Chris. They do pick it up, but I'd rather he know it and know not to use it than to shelter him from it. I grew up at farmers markets and truck stops, but I knew not to repeat certain words.
Ireland doesnt need to step its game up!! You just fished in the wrong place, every local angler knows that if they want to catch fish they do not fish fenit pier 😂😂
It was a 'local' that put me on the spot 😂 stitched me up more like. As for lazy, I'm anything but. I am the ejit who took the wife child and dogs on a fishing trip though, so was limited on this visit.
@@theawfulangler nothing but crabs and foreign nationals and the lazy ones I mentioned wasn't referring to you. Next time try the other side of Fenit island not far from the castle like being on a different planet
@johnwildwest1 I was meant to meet a lad for a session but he couldn't make it. He warned me about all the foreigners. I didn't see any of that. Until we pulled around the corner on to the bridge as we left, it was shoulder to shoulder 😂
@@theawfulangler ya all nubes trying to kill as many mackerel as they can get but the numbers of them have fallen years ago, funny thing a bit of a hike around the corner and big bass big Pollock far more fun and far less crabs 😉
You're not the only one to say that. Unfortunately I could only go off what I was told at the time. With having jack sarah and the dogs with me I didn't really have time to head out and scout more remote marks either. Solo trip next time I think 🤔
The debate about wind farms and no fish due to the vibrations etc. this video from America gives an insite to what a turbine is like built in 2015 and what it like underneath now. Great to watch. th-cam.com/video/miILw21xQGo/w-d-xo.htmlsi=FcoXdjRtwFbT6OX1
@@theawfulangler thought it was good info on the wind turbine debate. I was always hoping they would become a haven for fish to breed and hide. I was concerned when people said the vibrations meant they became deserts with no fish. The video gives a good insight to me.

glad to see the little mans doing well stay safe all of you good luck
He's doing us proud mate thanks
Nice video, mate. It's nice to Jack back to his best, after the abroad trip.
Yeah, thanks mate. Water off a ducks back for him, tough little cookie.
Really enjoyed it Alex, Jack looks well and it won't be long before he's joining you fishing mate
Started walking this week, so won't be long until he's pestering to come out on trips 🤞🏼

I'm hoping to earn enough points to get a solo weekend away and I think that will be predominantly lure fishing.
Good effort, dam those crabs 🦀.
Look forward to your next one 🎣😎👍🏼

What a beautiful place, lucky boy Alex 🎉🎉❤
Fishing shows you some amazing sights 😊

Some friendly advice the shore fishing in ireland is well an truly finished the fishing stocks are decimated from overfishing

Ireland is not being kind to you fishing wise but hopefully you are having a fantastic family holiday which is what life's all about!
It was a great trip, not so great on the fishing front. Little early in the season maybe 🤔 but primary objective was to go to the rally.
Good to see you smiling Alex the wee man looks like he's gunna drive you to nxt venue sure he'll find the fish for you
Wow that was tough Alex, but like you said if you’ve got your family with you then you just have to make the most of it 🐟🎣
Yeah that's it mate. Have to sneak over solo next time
If you look at the back of your pantry you might catch some silver fish 😂.
😂😂 still wouldn't catch one
Should hav had plenty species from here, undulate rays, sting rays, smooth hounds, bass, possible tope etc. just unlucky bud
No smooth hounds get caught from fenit and bass are like hens teeth from the pier.
Definitely more research required next time, and solo so I can fish more remote marks
