I really appreciate how the Xenobians, the good guys, are more about Chaotic Good, freedom, and are optimistic of the human condition. In constrast, the Loditians, the evil guys, are primarily lawful evil, accept that most people want to live under the rule of law and a system (corrupt or otherwise), and acknowledge that most lay-people have neither the strength or desire to rise up and change said system. Neither are inherently wrong, and that opposition of viewpoints really makes the series and its characters. Lodis always sends emissaries and forces to impose and expand their sense of faith and order. Xenobia always rallies the people, friends, foes, and neutral parties in common cause, to rebel against their rulers and their oppressors. Neither side does what their counterparts do, on any occasion, for there is really no need to. Both groups seek to harness the power of the Chaos Gates, holy relics, and powers of above and below. Both sides have fought against angels, heroes and ogres, all successfully. They really are two sides of the same coin.
They also follow the same religion just from two different orders founded by different people, Prince Roshfel and Lord Lodis. Like Protestant and Catholic in Christianity.

Late to the party but man, what a splendidly made video! Really, really well explained. And I needed some clarity, even after playing the psp game for the 100th time. Ozma would be my favorite Law route character, I just love her theme. But Ravness is also a very charming character, especially story-wise, with so much going on in her mind and life throughout the game. I absolutely loved every cutscene she was in.
I grew up with final fantasy tactics so when I found this game (LUCT) I really enjoyed it. Havnt beat it yet, but I like how you can make key choices which completely changes the story.
This route has quite the parallel with OB64's lawful route, and I'd say chaotic route as well (in terms of what happens to the main rivals; i.e., Magnus/Denam, and Dio/Vyce). In LUCT it's the choice in Balmamusa, while in PoLC it's the choice in Scene 6 at Volmus Mine. Curiously both the lawful, and chaotic choices seem rather similar in both entries.
@@WarrenReport I always wondered about the Timeline because there is a scene where Thamuz (senior Lodis knight) says if Valeria gets the Ultimate power they are screwed (or to that effect) making me think that Valeria was unified at that point or at least heading to that point.

Approximately 18 years later, because in LUCT Catiua is 19 years old and Denam is 18 years old. There are some date conflicts involving the creation of Xenobia's kingdom to the Dark Knights' theft of the sword and the time it took to get to Valeria, so I did my best to try to fit it into a chronological narrative that made sense.

I feel like chaos is the proper path. The way Denam talks about Balmamusa seems really unnatural compared to how he reacts to Sir Leonar’s proposal in the Chaos route. I think a case can be made for Neutral, but I think Gildas is a cool guy :/
According to the story that is presented in the LUCT graphic novel, most likely the Lawful path is the canonical of the story. The conflict between following orders and doing what is right, and the dilemma of the ends justifying the means, is a high point in this story that would be absent in the case of the Chaotic or Neutral route

37:24 was it only a month between the massacre and the start of the game? I remember lanselot tartaros telling denam and the gang they were only kids during the massacre when they first meet under duke ronways order. Translation error?
🧙🏼♂️ Hi! I can double-check this information, but if I remember correctly it's 1 month later or 1 year later, one of the two. They changed the ages of characters in the psp remake, in the remake during the events of the game Catiua is 19 years old and Denam is 18 years old. In the original game Denam is 16 years old and Catiua is 18 years old. During the game, many events (especially chapter changes) have months of difference between them, it is very complex to make a 100% correct line of events.
Not officially confirmed yet, but the way the CODA episodes lead up to it, I'm pretty sure the idea is to get all the xenobians together for a possible next game. If at some point it is said as non-canon, then I will redo the video

I remember looking at raw stat gains in the old PSX version and the Templar Commando class Barbas had better stats than the Paladin class and could equip any spell. It made me sad because the only Zenobian class that was as good as the Lodis boss classes was the Lord Mancer that Warren had and he gets taken out too.
Isn't Iuria recruited in CODA 1 not chapter 4? There is a run through Palace of the Dead in chapter 4 where you recruit Rudlum, as if you don't do that run you have to run it twice in CODA.
Yes you are correct, but as her quest makes no difference to the main story I thought it best for the narrative to put it in the middle, unlike CODA 2 which really is a continuation of the main story.
bad ending for ozma in this route is if we are not meet het and volaq and then another scene show in report that she is paralysis just sit on the wheelchair and can't say anything, return home with templars on boat. I think Balxephon poison her to keep the secret just like he did to his mother :)))
Personally I never liked the Lawful Route. It just felt like a betrayal of my own morals and even the times I stomach it to see through the extra options and units available. I still have the deeper emotional investment with the Chaotic route. I never did the Neutral route because the moment Leonar makes that request of me, I just got mad and wanted to spit at his face for even considering the idea I would join him after the betrayal. Sucks I never really finished with Lawful Route, personally I do think, after hearing this video, it has the better outcome of sorts. Yet I cannot help but ask this to myself. A better outcome at what price? I'm curious if you'll be covering the CoDAs and such since I personally never got to finish or do them all. So I am interested in how those played out, well more so the one I need the three main characters.

I always find it strange that denim's army have about 30 people in total, and we send like 10 to take over castles and fight a full army. And the same 10 to fight a small band of pirates or whatever... The sense of scale is all off
Each character would be the equivalent of about 500 units. The Dark Knights claim to command 100 to 300 units EACH of the commanders. A tactical game with 300 units for each side to command would be impractical, you need to use a little imagination friend
Also keep in mind that every unique unit in your army is essentially a commander. When it comes to gameplay, you have a squad of literal boss units: Donnalto is head priest in the Resistance, the Xenobians are all experienced commanders, the liberation front units are their leaders and the most magically gifted quartet of sisters on the whole island, possibly some of the strongest in the world, and more.
It's a shame we never got a sequel or a follow up game after LUCT. The ending really seemed to be setting up for a big climactic game in the future with the Dark Knights escaping back to Lodis, the tensions within the Empire itself (Pope/Church vs Senate) and the ongoing conflict between its neighbors (New Xenobia, Valeria, etc.). Not only that but every game always teased the potential of a Second Ogre Battle which was exciting to think about. To be honest it's a little disappointing once you put it all in perspective, because we'll probably never have that next game or sequel, so all this build up and allusions to future potential conflicts and storylines end up feeling hollow. I'm glad the games exist, but the series as a whole feel unfinished, and considering that it's been almost thirty years at this point since we got a new story for this saga I doubt we will get one even after Reborn. Does anyone know whether the creator has made any comments in regards to making a new game for it or have they moved on altogether?
Totally agree, many seeds planted for an epic grand finale...even a possible script for a successor game was leaked around the internets a while ago... There was an interview with the developers right after the remake of the PSP version where they commented on the interest in continuing the story, but it's been a long time... who knows now with the success of Reborn they'll get carte blanche to develop this game? Let us have faith in the great father Philaha!
