    Aaron I have an idea for you. Make a box that can be moved with the forks of the skid steer
    that has a bottom door. you can place it under the elevator to catch the kernels.
    Enjoy watching corn harvested on the cob.

    You guys do a great job. Love your videos. It’s great watching how you guys do your farm work. I wish there was more small family farms around instead of the big mega dairies. You definitely take pride in your farm with all the hard work you do. Nothing against farmers expanding at all. But small family farms are what started the creameries and co-ops. But never recognized

    I had the pull type Superpicker with the big husking bed. I pulled it with a 4020diesel, and, it would eat as much corn as I could push though it. Of course a good crop was 125 to 150 bushels back then, but, it was a great machine. I fed some of my corn, and, shelled the rest with a Moline 1200 sheller, not the most efficient way to do it, but, it worked and, I did not spend any money to dry the crop. I had a hydraulic motor on my elevator, so, I just used the 3020 on the wagon to run it, instead of having another tractor on the elevator, it worked well, and, only took a minute to plug in the hoses.

    Good looking corn! I have parked the grinder/mixer under the elevator and ground the shell corn as it fell out, kept tractor (JD4020) at mid idle and infeed auger slow (Gehl 120) and used 3/8 screen. An afternoon of unloading corn made for enough for a batch of feed, and I didn't have to shovel any. Next morning just finished out the batch with the other stuff and unloaded mixer into bags or bin if there was room. Moisture was a bit high, but we fed it right away.

    That isn't Pioneer 3388 of 40 years ago. It shelled hard. But the varieties of today are light years ahead in yields. The last two years would have been a disaster with those old numbers and the lack of rain we had.

    2-4 D or the new Freelex will take care of the morning-glory. The hotter and brighter the day the better for spraying. You will fight them for years, though. The seed can lay dormant in the field for 7 years.

    I enjoyed watching the corn sliding down inside of the wagon. Am glad things are going pretty well.
    Really sorry that Mason couldn't have found his deer. Maybe some day you will get one and find the scar. My nephews like to hunt our corn fed deer. My father, brother and I all have an uncomfortable reaction to seeing blood. Too bad, because I always wanted to be a nurse, but that's life.
    I planted multicolored morning glory's once and as the years passed by, they all reverted to purple. They were a PAIN to get rid of as their roots can go down as much as 15 feet. Another plant (bindweed) has the similar characteristics, but with smaller white or pink flowers and smaller more pointed leaves. They are exasperating.
    Thanks.

    • @MorganOtt-ne1qj
      @MorganOtt-ne1qj 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Bindweed is (unpleasant curse words), and makes Morning glory look like a mere nuisance. Both are late season germination seeds, so you have to make another pass with the sprayer to whack them. 🙄👎

    Could you not put your small trailer under your convoyer and catch the shelled corn falling out instead of the tarp where you have to pick the tarp up and empty it? You said picker was leaving more corn on ground than a combine, how many kernels you guess wound be in a 12 by 12 inch square? That would tell how many bushels per acre the picker is leaving over what a combine would. We really enjoy watching your videos. Thanks
