Great video. Exactly what I was looking for. I have the Pore-Reducing Toner and the 2% BHA liquid exfoliant. I would first wash my face with filter cold water and then apply the 2 products without rinse, twice a day? Morning and nights before bed.

How often you can use PC BHA depends on your skin tolerance. Therefore, I would recommend starting with once per day every other day for some time before increasing the frequency.

Aw! This is my favorite toner. I've been using it for over a year now. I dont use a cotton pad though. I put it right onto my hand and pat it in to my face, neck and chest. It's so great because it can be used with anything. I dont have to worry about conflicting ingredients.
Also what is the purpose of azelaic acid? I've always been curious of the ingredient. Thank you.

      Hey! :)
Yes, it is a great toner! :)
Azelaic Acid is like a mild exfoliant although you can not really compare it with an AHA or BHA. It works differently.
Azelaic Acid is often used on people that have rosacea and/or acne prone skin to reduce redness/acne and smoothen the skin texture. However, it is great for oily skin as well since it can make oily skin types less oily while using it. My husband has oily skin and he loves it a lot!

Hydrating toners and exfoliating acid toners serve different purposes in skincare.
Hydrating toners are designed to moisturize and replenish the skin's hydration after cleansing. They often contain ingredients like hyaluronic acid, glycerin, or aloe vera, which help to retain moisture in the skin.
On the other hand, exfoliating acid toners focus on removing dead skin cells and promoting cell turnover. These toners typically contain acids such as alpha hydroxy acids (AHAs), including glycolic, lactic, and mandelic acids, or beta hydroxy acids (BHAs), like salicylic acid. They gently exfoliate the skin's surface to reveal fresher, smoother skin underneath.
While hydrating toners are primarily for hydration, exfoliating acid toners are for improving skin texture and clarity.

Thank you Melissa! Can I use this at morning with benzoyl peroxide gel as I heard it has vitamin c in it. I can’t use it at night because I have to use my tactupump then and I can’t use a benzoyl peroxide wash as it’s too drying. What can I do?

    • @MelissaVanDijkOfficial
      @MelissaVanDijkOfficial  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

Your TactuPump already contains benzoyl peroxide and adapalene, doesn't it? In that case, you do not need to use another benzoyl peroxide product. You can use Paula's Choice Toner in the AM.
However, I also recommend investigating the root causes of your acne, such as lack of sleep, stress or mental health issues, environmental factors (air & water quality, washing detergent, etc), or your diet (such as consuming too much added sugar, processed food, fast food, or any food intolerance; like soy, milk, bread (gluten), eggs, chicken, etc).

My question is... Ive been using The Oridnary Glycolic Acid Toner and I learned from you the frequency of using it. So, I read from your advice in the comment section to use other Toner in the other days... and you recommend Paula's Choice.

Use either a balm cleanser (like Beauty of Joseon), a non-foaming cleanser (like CeraVe Hydrating Cleanser), or a mild foaming cleanser (like Beauty of Joseon, The Ordinary Glucoside Foaming Cleanser, or Cetaphil Hydrating Cream Foaming Cleanser). Then pat the skin dry, and follow with a moisturizer (from The Ordinary, CeraVe, Cetaphil, etc.). If you want to include a toner, look for a rose water toner, rice toner, hyaluronic acid toner, etc., and use it after your cleansing step but before applying your moisturizer.

If this is your only exfoliating acid product, it may work if used twice a day. However, using it twice a day can often be too much. I suggest starting with using it once every other day, and after some time, increasing the frequency to daily use and even twice a day to figure out the right frequency for your individual needs.

There is a small symbol on the packaging somewhere, commonly referred to as the 'period after opening' symbol. Typically, it is represented by an icon of an open jar, followed by a number and the letter 'M'. This symbol refers to the product's shelf life after it has been opened for the first time. The number indicates the number of months the product is considered safe and effective to use. For example, if a product has a symbol showing '12M', it means that the product should be used within 12 months of opening.

Technically to rebalance the skin. Toner adds hydration to the skin and essential oils, which the cleanser took away. It is a bit controversial, and I think both ways are fine, and I also think that it primarily depends on the formulation of your toner and the exfoliant you have.

@@crystalH30 Okay, so here is a bit more information.
AHA = Alpha Hydroxy Acids = Glycolic, Lactic or Mandelic Acid (the most popular once) They are most suitable for dry skin types as they removes dead skin cells on the skin’s surface, smooths fine lines and wrinkles, hydrates the skin and reduces dark spots.
BHA = Beta Hydroxy Acids = Salicylic Acid (The one that Paula's Choice also offers, but is also available from the Ordinary the 2% Salicylic Acid is the same thing but much cheaper) Best for normal to oily and even acne/blemish prone skin as it removes dead skin cells on the surface and in the pores, regulates oiliness, reduces enlarged pores and blackheads and has anti-inflammatory properties.
So I think you should go with BHA = Beta Hydroxy Acids = Salicylic Acid
