Hopefully I can help any Prodigy owners that are having troubles. When I bought my 4.25 inch, I noticed the gun was cerakoted inside and out for easy math. I used CLP oil and soaked the gun inside and out. I then racked the slide 500 times. Took it apart and cleaned it. The amount of black gunk (cerakote) that came out was incredible. I put the gun back together. Soaked it in CLP and racked the slide another 500 times. Disassembled and cleaned the gun again. I got a lot more black gunk out, but less than the first time. Reassembled and took it out to fire the first rounds through it. Over 1,000K rounds through it so far and 100% reliable with zero malfunctions of any type. This was with 147 grain FMJ and 147 grain JHP ammo. I also used 115 grain FMJ ammo. I noticed when racking the slide so many times, the overage of cerakote gunk would slow the slide/action down considerably. At least with the gun I have, it seems that cerakote would have gunked up the action and caused malfunctions had I not went through this process before shooting it. I'm not saying you should have to do this on a $1,500+- pistol, but this was what I did. I also own and EDC a Glock 45 MOS, 2024 Staccato CS and a Shadow Sytems CR920 Elite. Due, in part, to the weight of the Prodigy, it is an incredibly easy to shoot, rapid, flat shooting gun that's a lot of fun. The only issue I've had with mine is the set screw that holds on the rear sight came loose and the rear sight fell off. Easy fix, but I like it better with just an optic and front sight anyway for range purposes. Hope this helps anybody having malfunctions with their Prodigy.
I bought the 5” version a few months ago and had a few light primer strikes caused by the same issue. I didn’t rack it as many times as you did but I noticed the black gunk as well. I shortened my firing pin spring and polished my feed ramp and I’ve ran through about 2000rds without a malfunction. I did notice it doesn’t like feeding some flat nose rounds
Thanks for the comment and insight! I heard quite a few problems with the 5 inch prodigy but my 4 1/4 inch and this 3.5 inch have been running great!🇺🇸🤘
I just picked up mine. Fit n finish is very good, trigger is heavy out of the box, 5.5 lbs. this can be adjusted if you know what you are doing. Do some research before you start f’ing with the leaf spring. On my gun my middle spring which pushes in the disco and trigger bow and controls the take up weight was around 1.5 lbs. I adjusted this to around 15oz, just under or at 1 lb. Then some minor adjusting to the sear leg on the left to achieve a final trigger pull weight of 4 lbs. Good weight for a carry gun in my opinion. My competition guns are 2.5lbs.
I’ve been considering the CS as a carry option for a while now, but the $2,500 price tag is keeping me away. With the Prodigy 3.5 coming in at almost half price compared to the CS.
@@MrBert1 Both have the same thickness 1.45". The height is 5.6" for the Staccato CS vs 5.59" for the 3.5" Springfield. The Staccato is 7.1" long vs 7.0" for the Springfield. The main difference is 15+1 for the Springfield vs 16+1 for the Staccato.

@@1stShotTactical I woke up to an email announcing them from Springfield this morning, AND one from the "AFT" approving my latest Form 4. Can my day get better?
I'd prefer the slightly longer barreled version just because of bullet speed. With a red dot, any benefit from a longer sight radius is negated. And the hardest part to conceal is usually the grip, as it's what sticks out when carried IWB.

The slide release on a 1911 is meant to be manipulated with the left thumb for a right-hand shooter. And things don't "work flawless" they work flawlessly. Don't be a moron.
