Key takeaway: Increase your spermidine consumption to optimize autophagy to slow down the hallmarks of aging. Consuming wheat germ or natto are some of the best options.
She states fasting for child bearing aged women disrupts the cycle, but provides no evidence. What are the diets of these women? Do they consume processed foods, sugar, seed oils, and high oxalate vegetables? She pivots to pharmaceuticals and supplements to aid in this pathway. Eating a proper human diet of one-ingredient animal protein and fats minus processed foods, sugar, seed oils, and high oxalate vegetables is a fasting mimicking diet could be far more effective without side-effects. This would be without intention calorie restriction. For more info, Look up OB MDs Dr Jaime Seeman (@DoctorFitandFabulous) , Robert Kiltz, MD (@doctorkiltz), and Dr. Andrea Salcedo (@consciousgynecologist) on youtube for evidence. There are many more MDs/PHDs on this way of eating such as Dr. Jason Fung (@drjasonfung), and Dr. (phd) Thomas Seyfried (@Dr.Thomas-Seyfried_Charity) just to name a couple. Wish you well.
Yes I saw many other videos mentioning some side effects of long fast. At different levels of fasting you need to follow certain rules applied to successfully reach your goals. Very important what you eat after your fast. Do research online. Plenty information out there
You don't just stop getting periods because you are skipping breakfast. You didn't research enough, maybe listening to some docs and scientists is better than some "biohackers.
You might want to check out Dr. Mindy Pelz and her insights into the way women can align various kinds of fasting, time-restricted eating, and nourishment phases to align with the cycle in service of creating hormonal balance, gut health, and regular autophagy. Her book on this is called 'Fast Like A Girl'
Leslie made a comment at 11:46 to 12:06 that "if you have hypothyroidism and stay in a fasted state too long, your body will down-regulate metabolism." Can Leslie or someone define "too long" as this would be important to know. Does too long mean length of fast in hours or does too long mean fasting regularly for too many days or months or years???
The Resveratrol dose isn’t that high. Low doses are better. Sinclair had said that mice given it every other day lived longer than those given it every day. Also, studies showed that mice given spermidine for 6 months didn’t show increases of it in their bodies. So what good does it do if it doesn’t go into us?
thank you.I knew that dry fasting is best health hack, and needed someone like you to help me persuade people with all kind of problems, to give it a try. Autophagy is best personal human intelligence cleaining system to improve whole system we call our body. And with that consequences like younger and stronger body will be new normal - if you do it... just knowing is sadly not enough. Would love to see science about DRY fasting... For me its a game changer for detoxing and improving everything - IF you do it scientificly - first few days what you eat is crucial. Your life depend on it if you do it for more that 24h than first day of eating is only drinking... water, tea from dried apricots and kefir in really small quantities and eating slowly. First food should be steamd or boiled veggies, NO Fet, no salt, no raw food
Autophagy is the way to go. Good things happen (cell repair, etc) when your body is not constantly digesting and processing food, especially fake processed food. Your body can turn its attention to repair. She is wrong about fasting. Our hunting ancestors did not eat every day. If you are burning fat and producing ketones, you are not starving. It would take weeks to be truely starving. How to do autophagy? Start with a real food ketogenic diet. Then start fasting. 12 hrs, 16 hours then skip meals, one meal a day then 36 hours or more. I fast 3 to 5 days every 6 weeks or so since 2018. Found out about autophagy in 2019.
You forgot the most important factor in the preservation of autophagy - physical activity, amateur sports. By the way, this fully applies to the lecturer🤸 himself
Great presentation. I think fisetin should be in there. There are also lots of other autophagy substances. Even coffee, low dose lithium etc. Im trying to address me/cfs and neuropathy. Fasting is not good in me/cfs since the energy system is broken.
Fasting can help a lot, so can increasing beef and getting rid of lineolic acid. Some benefits of doing occasional extended fasting: High blood pressure is lowered to normal levels very quickly while fasting. Fasting restores NAD+ to healthy levels. Vitamin D plasma levels are increased as fasting improves metabolic health, and vitamin D in turn increases autophagy. Fasting stimulates phagocytosis, the ingestion of bacteria, plaques and viruses by the immune system. It will also remove any 'foreign material' like spikes that are not supposed to be there. Whether natural or unnatural in origin.. Telomeres are lengthened and fasting also increases anti-aging Yamanaka factors. Blood clotting is reduced and blood clots and arterial plaque are reabsorbed into the body. Reflexes and short term memory are increased. Fasts from 36-96 h increase metabolic rate due to norepinephrine release! After 72 hours or more fasted, your body recycles up to 1/3 of all immune bodies, rejuvenating your entire immune system. This helps prevent the onset of new autoimmune conditions, which develop through a leaky gut and damaged immune system. Fasting can help with MS, Depression, BPD, Autism and seizures. Thymus is regenerated, which suppresses aging and renews the immune system. The thymus also plays a vital role in fighting cancer. Blood sugar and insulin are lowered when fasting, allowing white blood cells to move more freely throughout the body and do their job. Weight loss from daily caloric restriction has 1/4 to 1/3 of the weight lost as lean tissue while many studies show fat loss from 36 h fasts without losing any lean tissue! The obese will lose extra tissue like loose skin while fasting, but the skinny or frail will have increased growth hormone release than the obese, which helps to make more lean tissue and reduce frailness. The hunger hormone ghrelin also lowers with extended fasting and rises from dieting. When you move out of MTOR your body shuts down the building blocks of the cell required for viruses to replicate. What breaks a fast? Anything with protein or carbohydrates in it will break a fast. Most teas and herbs are OK. Most supplements and meds will either break ketosis directly or contain a filler that will. Many meds are dangerous to take while fasting. Does fasting lower testosterone? No, it raises it when the fast is broken by increasing lutenizing hormone. Fasts of 36-96 will not affect short term female fertility or affect menstrual cycle. They also may increase long term fertility, especially in women with PCOS. Fasting reduces pain and anxiety by stimulating the endocannabinoid system in a similar way to CBD oil. Fasting very quickly reduces leptin resistance, which impairs immune function. One day of fasting can cut your leptin levels in half and gets your immune system working properly again! Stomach acid is reduced over time while fasting and can allow for the healing of treatment resistant ulcers. Some patients may need continued acid reduction medication while fasting. Does the body preferentially prefer glucose as a fuel? No. Except for brief periods of very intense exercise, your body mainly burns fats in the form of free fatty acids. Your brain also prefers to burn ketones at a rate of around 2.5 to 1 when they are available in equal quantity to glucose. Fasting stimulates the AMPK complex and activates autophagy. Autophagy (literally self eating) will cause cells to recycle foreign matter such as viruses and kill cancerous and senescent cells Lowering insulin via fasting virtually eliminates chronic inflammation in the body. It increases mitochondrial function and repairs mitichondrial DNA, leading to improved ATP production and oxygen efficiency. Increased mitochondrial function also has the added benefit of increasing your metabolism, fighting infection and cancer prevention! Fasting releases BDNF and NGF in the blood which stimulates new nerve and brain cell growth. This can help a great deal with diseases like MS, peripheral neuropathy and Alzheimers. When not in ketosis, the brain can only burn carbohydrate, which produces a great deal of damaging ROS the brain has to deal with. Fasting also increases telomere length, negating some of the effects of aging at a cellular level. When you fast, this stimulates apoptosis in senescent or genetically damaged cells, destroying them. Senescent cells are responsible for many of the effects of aging and are a root cause of the development of cancer. A fasting mimicking diet for 3-5 days in a row also provides many of the same benefits as water fasting. FMD usually has 200-800 calories, under 18 g of protein and extremely low carbs. Exogenous ketones can aid with fasting, making it easier in healthy people and allowing some people with specific issues to fast in spite of them without worrying as much about hypoglycemia. Children, pregnant or nursing women should not fast for periods longer than 16 hours. People with pancreatic tumors or certain forms of hypoglycemia generally cannot fast at all. Type 1 diabetics can also fast but it is more complicated and should be approached with caution as it could lead to ketoacidosis. If you experience extreme symptoms of some kind, especially dizziness or tremors, then simply break the fast and seek advice. I'm going to eat some stinky natto now. This lady is so articulate - one of the best aging videos I have seen. Thx so much. BTW one of my supplements has reversed my grey hair (I am 73) - I wish I knew which one did it . Anybody know? That's the trouble with taking lots of supplements - you don't know which does what, damn it.
What is BTW means? In medicine we were taught not to use this method.Of course that teaching was authentic in Edinburgh,Scotland.I might help. For me all healthy life style variables change my pure white hair into black not completely. Not fasti which is stressful but meditation,no stressful medical work, walking out in nature and engaging the mind in what we do.The builder work in my house reverse his diabetes by ketogenic diet, then whole plant diet, one meal a day .very extreme and consistent.I suppose we are different and no one size fits all.Extreme Fasting lead to high energy. One morning did four total abdominal hysterectomies in addition to long list of medium surgical operations. Not eating is simply could not eat because of severe abdominal pain in stressful Iraq.Changed my environment the country to work helped my health.Simply run away from that madness of over working 5 amto 12 midnight.
I would really like to see your stack to figure out what reversed gray hair. I am thinking Fisetin or Fo-Ti root, also vitamin B’s can play big role in it
@@lalisa2486 @AT-xl9db I started with high dose Vit B1 - Benfotiamine and Allithiamine 1 plus 2/day, then added Acetyl L-Carnitine then B complex using P5P not standard B6, then added DHEA 50 mg per day, then expensive R lipoic acid on empty stomach, then some choline and inositol cycling them, then Copper and selenium but spread out weekly, quite a lot of magnesium L-threonate, some glynac (not much, it gives me cramps), a little Quercetin occasionally, a lot of Vitamin D3 and Omega 3 from Algae, I eat beef mince and mango/pineapple/melon and drink Soya Latte once a day in the mornings. I do gentle gym work twice a day and noticed I got A LOT more energy, but I don't push-it, light weights, very light cardio. Used to get fatigued in the gym but no longer so I done my mitochondria a lot of good. I am auto-immune susceptible, hence the diet - even strawberries are no good for me. I notice that auto-immune remedies are often also anti aging remedies - fortunately. I'm definitely younger now after 3 months of this ..... Before I was truly forgetful and fatigued. I am 73.
Kiwi fruit repairs DNA and taurine has some type of anti-aging effects, I'd assume that neurochemical modulation is a big determinant due to repair would benefit from an anabolic state obviously, I'm using inductive reasoning so the mapping of the topology of variables eludes you who cares I'm not here to talk but to train.
Some mushrooms have a lot of spermidine. Also cheeze and beef are good sources of it. My opinion differs from that presented in this video. To ignite autophagy I rely on Intermittent Fasting and a keto-carnivore diet. Plus exercise such as HIIT. Yet it is important to use additional enzymes to avoid accumulation of lipofuscin in cells and atherosclerosis plaques in walls of large arteries.
@@elvisbz You may try any available enzymes. Fish paste in a traditional Thai spicy papaya salad is working well for digestion and skin. I tried to marinade ocean fish in a way as Scandinavians do, but gave up as I am in Thailand and the fish paste is available here at local markets for a relatively cheap price. Also, I produce a very potent enzyme that is good for blood vessels and inner organs' elasticity. So, my blood pressure is normally about 100/60 or even 85/53 with a heartbeat rate of 50 or below 50. And it gives me great endurance to swim in fins for up to two hours at relatively high speed or go cycling for up to a 100 km distance. I supply my enzymes to my friends and get reports that it works for them too. Unfortunately, EU customs don't allow to send the not certified products. America works well. If I will find more customers in the US, I may increase production from 1-2 kilos per month to dozens and even hundreds of kilos. I have invested my money in the production facilities but the war in Ukraine crashed my plans as I was planning to get pure organic raw materials from Ukraine for the enzyme production. Please, check my TH-cam channel for more information. So, from the enzymes available commercially, I may recommend you the fish paste and papain.
@@DrOlegKulikov I used to think like this too, then fasting & keto gave me dumping syndrome- or something very similar. It definitely improved my mitochondrial health, but it also gave me extremely severe restless leg syndrome and now I can only get 2 hours sleep most nights
Tortoise mammals? WTF that kind of mistake should not happen at the beginning of a 'serious' "scientific" conference to not being immediately discredited...
Most of ththe geno protection supplements listed have failed to show any positive effect based on multiple double-blind placebo-controlled testing that has been done on them. A few Of them such as rapamycin and NAD+ Have shown positive results in testing.
Tortoises are specially long lived "MAMMALS" ?? That is such an astonishing blunder that it makes me wonder whether she has just learned this pat without understanding it. How credible is a "medical expert" who calls a tortoise a mammal?
@@alyousuf A servere case of wind more than a brain fart. But surely you correct your "farts" if that is what they are? Otherwise it suggests you didn't notice that you had "farted". Secondly, she is presenting herself as an expert in the field of biology. You are right, everyone makes occasional slips, yet I am right too that credibility is shaken because the nagging doubt arises: has she just learnt what she is saying by heart?
Peas, mushrooms, soy, wheat germ and nuts will give you much more daily than any pill on the market. Pills have 1-5 mg and you can get over 50mg from your diet.

URGENT!!!!!! Should my husband a heart transplant recipient fasting for its benefits while taking immune suppressants PROGRAF 2.5mg 2x, Prednisone 2.5mg 1x and Mycophenolate mofetil 250mg. 3tablets 2x daily?
:)) I think the brain quickly considered "animal" & "mammal" in the tree search and farted. Certainly not a knowledge problem, nor a neural substrate problem. I’m a disaster at 40, prolly my biggest recent misses we’re searching for the terms "fork" & "japan", both times taking well over a minute. That’s clearly a substrate problem
big conflict of interest. This lady Leslie Kenny owns a spermidine company that sells natural spermidine. So of course she is going to try to make up some reason that synthetic spermidine is not as good, but its not true. Synthetic spermidine works great, you can get it in higher concentration formulas and is more effective.
Good luck, getting therapeutic to hyper therapeutic doses of those compounds through food. Just not possible. And Rapamycin is pulsed in antiaging protocols, not continuous. . This talk is not as good as it seems on the surface. FWIW look up Bryan Johnson Anti Aging for his nutrient stack.
There are several options, but in the end it really depends on what you can adjust to and comfortably sustain. Here's a free guide: biohackercenter.com/blogs/biohacking-guides/health-benefits-intermittent-fasting-time-restricted-eating
Wrong about tortoises. Wrong about hayflick limit. I wish I could trust the rest of her talk, but when you’re wrong about basic facts it doesn’t help your credibility…
It's very simple: you realize it's entirely possible for anyone to simply misspeak while in front of a crowd - and then continue taking her seriously, as you should.
Give me some innovation cause this is old science 😢 are there any advanced in tendons and ligaments growth? Or Alzheimer’s and dementia renovating cells menopause delay or testosterone increase without the synthetic type ? Give me something new😅
Everyone educated understands that it's entirely possible for anyone educated to misspeak occasionally, and watches the whole thing for the actually relevant information without getting hung up on a meaningless detail.
Yeah. Makes sense. My mitochondria looks exactly like this. lol. That's why I feel sick. This pseudo-science was probably impressive in the 19th century but now that we have all these tools we need to do better.
hehehe ... quote, "Tortoises are specially long lived mammals" @0:54 :))) is the rest of the presentation trustworthy then? at @2:00 showing mitochondria with some stain and image post-processing as an example for impairment of proteostasis? Then trying to sell an artists impression as "what you can see here" ... baah mitochondria with glaring refelection light on them... B.S. @5:00 she tells that 2Senescent cells are being stopped from dividing because they will become a tumor" ... This is a very old and meanwhile skipped hypothesis ! @5:05 stopped viewing further

This great for most over weight fat folks as long as their large enough to do so but not good for skinny people. A infant develops better then us all and does so eatting every few hours. The key is liquid calories and a focus on carbs and fats with very lil protein content. A body that’s fasting is just digesting it’s excess body meat aka fat into liquid nutrition. Message from another black man
Expand lifespan??!!! Good lord!!! Please don't. Not for me!!!! I hate living, life sucks. Can't wait to die. Please, I pray everyday to not wake up the next morning ever since i was 12. Yet still, i keep waking up and first thing in the morning I feel disappointment and hopelessness that last throughout the day. Please don't expand MY lifespan, ever. God, no!!!!!
I'm sorry you feel that way. It's true that its a challenge to find meaning within all of the suffering. Living for others works for many people. Gratitude for everything you have no matter how small helps too. I hope you find joy soon, I suspect the world is better with you in it.
Hmmm. Do you know why infants wake up happy and never wishing for death? Because breast milk stimulates opioid, endocannabinoid, and a bunch of other neurotransmitters naturally. Sounds like your neurotransmitters need a lift! Try smoking cbd flower and mixed that with a lil sassafras oil before u smoke it which u can order both safely online. Trust and believe the government is lies about sassafras being toxic to humans being native Americans used it daily safely way before European science hit the scene

Excellent breakdown! Ty
Key takeaway: Increase your spermidine consumption to optimize autophagy to slow down the hallmarks of aging. Consuming wheat germ or natto are some of the best options.
Chlorella powder is a highly concentrated source of spermidine.
Wheat germ ??? NO WAY , ( GLYFOSATE)). POISON. NO GRAINS
What is natto?

Fasting messed up my cycle. I'm glad you mentioned that because none of the big internet biohackers ever do.
She looks great for 93 so I believe what she says here.
It says she's 57.
I'll stick with good old fasting and strength training thank you very much.
Vitamin d from sunlight and vitamin k is essential for optimal health! Most people are very low!
OMG you're so beautiful inside and out! Thank you for your to time concerning wisdom and understanding..!
Very interesting lecture and covered all aspects of the subject
The Resveratrol dose isn’t that high. Low doses are better. Sinclair had said that mice given it every other day lived longer than those given it every day. Also, studies showed that mice given spermidine for 6 months didn’t show increases of it in their bodies. So what good does it do if it doesn’t go into us?
Maybe im feeling so good as a geezer is the red wine . Hmmmm
or th h.i.i.t. and skipping meals
Sinclair is a quack. His resveratrol study was crap in order to get that hefty buyout
Of course, we are intelligent , she mentioned everything within a meaningful way ❤
Great talk, very helpful and informative. Thank you for the inspiration and complex explanations. Woohoo!
Great presentation 👏
brilliant. thank you. would like to have learned more about natural sources of spermidine.
You don't need chemicals, you need a clean diet. No processed food minimal carbs.
The Blue Zone Diet is carb heavy.

thank you.I knew that dry fasting is best health hack, and needed someone like you to help me persuade people with all kind of problems, to give it a try.
Loved this 👍
Brilliant..Thought provoking
@12:30. "Go into a fasted state for too long" is how long exactly? 24 hrs? 48h? 216hrs? Longer?
David Sinclair said that consuming small amounts of Resveratrol every other day might be better than high amounts every day. 😮
I totally agree, she simply downplayed fasting by giving an example of pregnant women.. fasting is the best option.
You forgot the most important factor in the preservation of autophagy - physical activity, amateur sports. By the way, this fully applies to the lecturer🤸 himself

Thank you for a great talk! 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
Autophagy (literally self eating) will cause cells to recycle foreign matter such as viruses and kill cancerous and senescent cells
Lowering insulin via fasting virtually eliminates chronic inflammation in the body.

@@DrOlegKulikov can you tell me what enzymes are good to supplement?

Very true, what a bad way to start her talk.
Everyone tries to sell their product as the best and talks bad about other products
Who is this expert?
Her name is Leslie Kenny. All information is right here, in the video description.
OMG, I think I am in love....
big conflict of interest.
FYI! A tortoise is not a mammal, as you stated! Look it up professor, a tortoise is a Reptile¡!!
Tortoises are not mammals.
Alternate day (36hour) fasting only allows 6 hours of autophagy.
I will stick to water fasting and callanetics.
How many hours (fasting) ?
There are several options, but in the end it really depends on what you can adjust to and comfortably sustain. Here's a free guide:

0:55 Tortoises are mammals... Really? Tortoises are reptiles.
Good luck
But I want to fast. Crap.
Tantrik practices are Indian. You don't have to say Asian there.
SASP is a chemical 🤔
Wrong about tortoises. Wrong about hayflick limit. I wish I could trust the rest of her talk, but when you’re wrong about basic facts it doesn’t help your credibility…
tortoises are not mammals, they are reptiles.
I don’t know how I’m supposed to take this person seriously when in the first minute she says tortoises are mammals. Jesus.
Give me something new😅
Have u heard about the mouth bacteria relating to Alzheimers’s and dementia?
I have never heard of natto until now.
It's almost impossible to get in Spokane
Consider yourself lucky. ;-)
@@stijndeklerk 😁
It's gross 😝
What the hell is she talking about? Is this an act?
Increasing longevity with Spermidine
"tortoises are especially long-live mammals" -- i believe anyone educated can stop watching this after this phrase
Fix the ladder🌐🧬♀️🛡️🚭🌞
hehehe ... quote, "Tortoises are specially long lived mammals" @0:54 :))) is the rest of the presentation trustworthy then?
at @2:00 showing mitochondria with some stain and image post-processing as an example for impairment of proteostasis? Then trying to sell an artists impression as "what you can see here" ... baah mitochondria with glaring refelection light on them... B.S.
@5:00 she tells that 2Senescent cells are being stopped from dividing because they will become a tumor" ... This is a very old and meanwhile skipped hypothesis !
@5:05 stopped viewing further
I am a fit 25 year old ,six pack
Yes I'll date her
🤦 P r o m o s m
Haha
😂😂
A tortoise is NOT a mammal, and that’s when I stopped listen. Well done. Expert. Bye bye🙄
Eat one meal a day and when you master this
Then eat one meal every two days when you master that
Eat one meal every three days and stay there for life

This great for most over weight fat folks as long as their large enough to do so but not good for skinny people. A infant develops better then us all and does so eatting every few hours. The key is liquid calories and a focus on carbs and fats with very lil protein content. A body that’s fasting is just digesting it’s excess body meat aka fat into liquid nutrition.
