    Drifting in the rain exaggerates all of a car's existing strengths and weaknesses, and also slows everything down so new drivers have more time to react and learn the timing and balance for drifting. It's a double-edged sword, but one you can learn a lot from!

    If you are looking for future content ideas. I would greatly enjoy a video on how to do various forms of drift car control. IRL or on Assetto since the basic concept should be the same.
    For example, long wide radius corners, if you are in second and you can’t seem to link the entire corner without throwing a manji in, what can you do?
    Or if you are doing a high speed entry (think FD Atlanta style) you pull the hand brake to enter, but you are still carrying too much speed, or you spin out on entry.
    I feel like drifting is composed of:
    If I experience this situation I have several “levers” to pull to try and salvage the situation, more throttle, less throttle, foot brake, hand brake, more steering, less steering, gear up (IE more wheel speed) etc.
    Sometimes in my drift practice I find myself in these strange situations and I struggle to theorize exactly which method will resolve my issue.
    I feel like these videos could be relatively easy to film by just going to corner X and entering it several ways and then discussing what you did / didn’t do.
    Love the videos! Thanks a ton!

    Is a hand break being used? Or is it not needed since its raining, not really a car guy so it has me a little confused

    • @KameTrick
      @KameTrick  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      No handbrake or even clutch for this, just driving with 1 foot (throttle only)
      Cut wheel and apply throttle at a speed low enough the car doesn’t understeer, catch the drift by letting off throttle momentarily, and then balance it with throttle for as long as you want to continue turning in that direction

  • @thosebastards4279
    @thosebastards4279 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    OK ok help me out here I want to know if Im thinking correctly ... So you start the drift with whatever method clutch kick, flick, whatever... Then release the wheel as the rear spins out.. Then as the rear spins out and you're good with the angle you "catch it" by catching the wheel and giving the car gas? More angle=more gas needed? So it's the downforce on the rear plus the increased rotation from the rwd that makes the rear end "catch" or am I going wrong somewhere? Thank you

    • @KameTrick
      @KameTrick  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That’s really close 👍🏻 So the “catch” is all about getting the right amount and timing of countersteer, yes, but also a common key part is to release throttle for a few moments to help the car stop rotating. You don’t always have to, but as far as breaking down the most basic way, the “catch” is frequently both countersteer and temporary throttle release ✅
      Grabbing the wheel again, isn’t what stops the car from rotating. Your countersteer and throttle adjustments do that. Grabbing the wheel again is just what you do to set up for maintaining the drift 👍🏻

    • @KameTrick
      @KameTrick  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It’s an absolutely massive part of it, yes! Though 99.99% of the time if you let go of the wheel mid-drift the car will not remain stable, so there’s definitely some anime superpowers going on there, too. I like to think it’s theoretically possible, but probably not humanly possible 🤷🏻‍♂️

    • @KameTrick
      @KameTrick  ปีที่แล้ว

      This was a students car at a drift school I was instructing at, so I don’t know the full story behind it. My guess is that it was part of the factory wheel buttons, like maybe a cruise control selector or something, and he kept it for convenience on the street 🤷🏻‍♂️

    • @prestonking1848
      @prestonking1848 ปีที่แล้ว

I’ve also got a 370Z drift video in the channel library with a VLSD and we linked the track in the dry easily, so as long as it isn’t an open diff and it’s in good working order, you’re all set.

    • @tracksnail272
      @tracksnail272 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      a 350Z is very driftable in its stock form and is a great car for learning. Unless you want to focus on drifting alot. If that's the case I recommend you get a car for drifting and another one for daily driving unless you want to be walking a lot because a drift car will get beaten up. At one point it just makes sense to have it for one purpose only and not worry about MOT :)

      Like TrackSnail said, you can drift a stick one, but the ideal budget setup is coilovers, an angle kit, welded diff and hydro ebrake, plus an extra set of OEM wheels to save some money...probably 3-5K plus the cost of the car itself depending on what specific gear you go with.
