In the film, there is a scene in which a German radio broadcast condemns the "massacre" of "innocent" Germans at a school, rallying the German people in their fight against "the other." To the Germans, such an event could easily be used to justify the Nazi's campaign of unspeakable violence (in "self defense," etc). History, however, has made clear how comparably insignificant this "massacre" of German innocents remains in light of what we now understand to be a reprehensible genocide waged for a "cause" that seems so unjustifiable in retrospect. What will we say of Israel when enough time has passed to reflect soberly upon what was done? What museum will house the ephemera of how many tens of thousands of massacred Palestinians, putting their decimation in perspective? Glazer dares to ask these questions now, while our own media still spins an alternate take that attempts to justify the unjustifiable, as we go about the banality of our own lives on the other side of the wall. Bravo to him.
