I was in a good mood before I started watching this episode, now I I’m giddy! Where else can I look at beautiful succulents, learn something and be entertained? No where!! 😄
OMG that was great, I'm liking this new series of videos during the lockdown. Enjoying seeing you working hard on your garden. It's a lot more relax and chilled and as I do as it's developing and completely changing! GOT THE PARENTS TO GET RID OF THE LAWN!!!! 🏆💪🥳🥳 But it's me and spade. Lords grade be with me. Oh #🙈 I would love to let my OCD rip that garage apart and make a space ad a home for everything 😅 love you. Oh I also drew a plan. The business ACCEPTED it. So I'm so excited to get digging Godwillingy once the carina pandemic has left us. I think should start filing to. Looks like so much fun but I get nervous lol shush voice shush. Already got there's check check and denims for it 🤣🤣
Laura, I've been enjoying your back to the basics videos! As much as I love the fabulous installations your team does...maintenance, planting, care - all remind me of when I first transitioned from MN to a full succulent garden in SoCal - you have been my mentor in learning this new form of gardening! My question: can you talk about planting bromeliads into the ground, and have you ever had any luck getting new pups to bloom? I have managed to grow big beautiful pups from bromeliads that were gifted to me...standard box store types, but I am growing impatient that I will ever see these pups produce blooms. I don't want to put them in bags to create gas, as I have read about. Thanks!
Question!.. how do you always stay so positive?!.. your joy and passion is totally infectious haha! I always try to be as positive as you even on a really crappy day.. you've really taught me how to always see the bright side of things. :)
Hi Laura, I love your videos! Thank you for all you do and thank you to your team as well. My question is have you ever come across a snake as you were working with the succulents? Thank you so much!
Thank you Laura, for your succulent inspiration. I became a "collector" a few years back, and about now my collection has exploded into mass. I love your creative ideas and especially that you have given names to the variety. Keep up the great work! Isn't it nice to be able to spend time on your own garden, even if it is forced😊🙄
Question for tomorrow's live in the loft. I like to bring my pots inside to enjoy them around the house, but then I feel sorry for them and end up putting them back out where they get longer daylight hours. What varieties of succulents are quite happy indoors?
Good question! I had to get a grow light (there are some very affordable lights depending on how many plants you want to keep inside but I turn the grow lights on at night and off when I get up in the morning. The plants I enjoy the most (echeveria) must have a good amount of light or it will grow all silly. I’m curious to what Laura says too!
Most Haworthias and Sansevierias are somewhat low light tolerant! Greener or dark green succulents are generally more forgiving of lower light situations! If you want to bring in more colourful varieties you will have to give them supplemental light! An LED bulb or two that emits cool white colour should do great.
All the beautiful color. Looking forward to seeing your live vid. Hopefully i can make it, or with my brain, remember it. :D QUESTION: What is your favorite type of succulent? Ex. Crassula, Echevaria and so on.
What gloves do you use when you handle cacti? I wanted to thank you for inspiring me to start planting and designing with succulents. I am an physician frequently under a lot of stress, and this hobby of planting succulents has provided me so much zen during my limited amount of spare time. I'm slowly collecting to collect succulents and cacti. Thank you so much!
Great video! I love the way a garden looks after a nice rain.. I love the doves nest❤ I use river rock but the shiny one, I forgot the name. Love your garden and top dressing ideas❤ Sensing lots of love your way! Glad your staying safe 🐞
Laura thank you so much for shearing i really appreciate you're videos Can you please share some advice on golfers thay are eating all my aloevera roots not to mention others tropical fruit trees even the roses ,again thank you so much 🌵💚
Yay!! Live video!! Could I ask how to best trim up donkey’s tail without losing the leaves? I have a lot of stem showing on mine too. Do you also have succulent arrangements at home? If so what’s some “low light” succulents you would recommend? Lastly who’s grass lawn is in front of your Walkway :) thank you Laura
Question: I live in western WA state (where the sun does NOT live) and I grow all of my houseplants indoors under a shop light. I use the 'sunshine' bulbs but my succs (parked DIRECTLY under & at the highest point toward the light) still want to go leggy. Is there a particular bulb or reasonably priced grow light (LED or otherwise) that you would suggest for happier indoor succulents? Thanks!
Question for you Laura - can you explain the difference / definition of a xerriscape opposed to a tapestry garden? When you refer to a tapestry garden what do you perceive that to be?
What succulents and cacti would do well in a position of full sun, especially afternoon sun, and winter temperatures that bring occasional morning frost? It’s a temperate zone (Australia), coastal, no snow, rains a bit in all seasons when not in drought (but not torrential)? I have a patch now with no lawn! Also, would it be ok to plant out in autumn when our winters are reasonably mild (no snow, a few frosts that melt by mid morning)? Thank you 🙏 ❤️
Hi Laura, my "Loft Night" observation/question is this, I notice that much of the time when you are working with plants you do not wear gloves, do you have a secret way to get your nails clean later? It takes me three days to get mine back to normal! Also, is there a type of garden glove that survives longer for you? Mine tend to get blow-out along the side of my index finger from pulling weeds. And thank you for your calm presence and gentle humor, I know how being in a garden can bring that out.
I'm a new sub, during this difficult time , i have watch some of your videos . They are awesome content ! ! Thank you so much for sharing your experience with us the viewers. 👍💜I'm a mother ot 3 kids 2 dogs 1 cat 👍💜🐕🐶🐈Thank you 💜
We've got 3 bird families in our greenhouse... one in a staghorn fern, a nanhopia orchid, and a nuns orchid! They're crazy!! Fly everywhere and sometimes hit my succulents but I don't mind, what else can I do? Haha 🤷🏼♀️
Hi Laura. I love in Arizona and it’s heating up here! My succulents get morning sunlight and shade the rest of the afternoon. My donkey tail has completely shriveled up except for a few lively branches. What can I do to save it?
Do you fertilise at all? With cactus juice? Or other? When we leave succulents to go “a-la-natural” in containers outside they often turn yellowish....any ideas on why and how to avoid??
Question: I love you! You grew my passion for succulents Laura thanks!!! Arrghhhhh😍😍 Im in Sydney, Australia. Pleassseeeee tell me where to begin??!!! I have a few little pots with baby pups and am wanting an oasis like yours 😍. Some are flourishing and some of the leaves are falling off. I know extreme patience is needed but is there anything you recommend/ advise for a beginner?? Any insight will be helpful x
Hi Laura- These videos are pulling me out of a blue covid-funk! Thank you for your good energy and inspiration...Here's my question for tomorrow night- I have a very small, raised planter (about 15 feet long and 5 feet wide) circling in front of my manufactured home, in a 10 a zone - literally steps from the ocean. The previous owners had two struggling palms (now gone, but some roots remain) and some crushed granite on top of weed-free paper. The weed free layer and the crushed granite are still there because I cannot get it all out. Can I leave it and build a small retaining wall with larger stones and fill that area in with soil to create a "planter" on top of all the muck below, then plant my favorite succulent garden complete with elevation and top dressing? Would I need a stone drainage layer? I will also place an empty fountain in the area and plant that up with succulents as well. Many thanks!
I love it! Thanks for being careful with the Doves nest, that was awesome. Love your pod collection, this video was a treat, always learning something with you. Question: with all the rain, are you expecting some of the succulents to die, or can they take all that rain and do well?
I live in a humid city and summers have very high temp. Plz can u suggest how to take care of soft succulents like aeoniums, achieveria, crasulla, semprevimum etc in hot & humid summers?
Same question here. I too live in a place with very hot & humid summer in India. I have my succulent on east & north facing windows in small succulent pots. They get morning sun & after that indirect sunlight. I have echveria, haworthias, astrophytums, gasterias & crasulla. Any specific care for them
Ppl say that soft succulents don't survive in hot & humid climate. Many of my succulents also die when it is too hot. Don't know what am I doing wrong. @laura plz guide us on this
? I have all kinds of plants/succulents outside/inside put am not happy there’s lots of insects flying they look like 🦟 put more little hope you will help with some recommendations what to buy that don’t affect my plants thank you 😊

Wow... I love the gutters! I would have never had that many plants! I love your videos! Has anyone noticed the barrel cactus/s Laura lofted was shaped like “Mickey mouse? Can you please tell me the scientific name of the crested cactus? 👍❤️🌵
It’s easiest to join from a desktop but if you have an iPhone or iPad like me you have to use safari and type in TH-cam.com. Sign in and go to Laura’s page. You may or may not have to update (this was strange for me, there was a little banner that said something like “updated version click here”). I clicked that which you may or may not have to. But after I did there was a “JOIN” butting I selected then it brought me to my Apple payment section and that process is easy. Good luck.
I have a aloe that just isn't growing up but level with the soil in the pot I call it Octopus affectionately. It is in a plastic nursery pot so yes well draining and I water when completely dry. Its adding g new leaves but they too lay down I have other Aloes on same table that are growing g up like they should so I do t think its light. HELP
