For the record this wasn't a normal occurrence back then & was not readily accepted in the Hip-Hop Community back then.
It was No.1 for a while & even beat out Such names as Micheal Bolton, Micheal Jackson, Boys II Men, & Prince on the Top Billboard Charts.
The 1st fusion of it's kind & they sounded like no one else inthe Music game at that time.

here let me tell you what it actually means ... "Set Adrift on Memory Bliss" by P.M. Dawn is a song that explores themes of nostalgia, longing, and the power of memories. The lyrics follow a reflective and introspective narrative as the singer reminisces about past relationships and the emotions associated with them.
In the first verse, the singer describes a hazy and dream-like scene in which they struggle to recall details of a previous encounter. They express a sense of confusion and wonder if there is a deeper meaning behind their memories or if they will ever be able to stop thinking about them. The mention of a past-time intimate friend and their nonchalant attitude towards her suggests an emotional detachment or a tendency to relegate past relationships to the back of their mind.
The chorus, "Baby you send me, baby you send me, Set adrift on memory bliss of you," conveys the idea that this person from the past holds a strong influence over the singer's thoughts and emotions. The phrase "set adrift on memory bliss" suggests that the memories associated with this person have a powerful and captivating effect, immersing the singer in a state of longing and nostalgia.
In the second verse, the lyrics introduce more conflicting emotions and experiences. There is a reference to a "careless whisper" from a "careless man," hinting at a betrayal or disappointment. The mention of "marionette strings" highlights the idea of being controlled or manipulated by external forces. The singer mentions someone named Christina Applegate, perhaps as a symbol of desire or admiration, but ultimately acknowledges that even this person will end up being just another memory.
Overall, "Set Adrift on Memory Bliss" speaks to the bittersweet nature of memories and the emotional weight they can hold. Through its dreamy and reflective tone, the song evokes a sense of longing for the past while recognizing the transience and inevitability of memories' fade.

I've loved this song since it came out when I was a teenager. However, I got a different interpretation from it than him running into his ex. The part about him seeing the ring on her finger and some other things he says tells me this is a married woman he's been seeing and has mixed feelings about. They had some other great songs also, paper doll and I'd die without you to name a couple. RIP prince B
