    No exaggeration.. getting that 2003 Cowboys team to the playoffs is one of the best coaching performances in NFL history.

    • @johnselwitz5362
      @johnselwitz5362 9 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Absolutely. Taking a team that was essentially at rock bottom, five years without a winning record with double digit losses in the previous three seasons, where the choice of quarterback was either Quincy Carter or Chad Hutchinson (Romo wasn’t even going to be considered as an undrafted, unproven rookie on a Parcells’ team) and getting them to the playoffs is a masterclass in coaching. It’s why Bill is one of the greatest of all time. If he stuck around for another year or two, I think Dallas at least gets to a Super Bowl.

      I have been a long time Oilers/Titans fan. Yet, I always LOVED watching the NY Giants when they were coached by B. Parcells, and I rooted for the Big Blue Wrecking Crew in the Parcells years. Tough, gritty, hard-nosed, physical. Giants had a great game plan when they played the Bills in the Super Bowl in Tampa.

    Unparalleled motivation skills. The way he got LT psyched up to take on Irv Pankey and the Rams is one of the greatest tactics I've ever heard.

      Mmm hmmm. Didn't Parcells give LT a ticket to New Orleans? And he told him 'Go get me Pat Swilling. He can handle Pankey. You can't.' Then, a mad LT went out and beat Pankey for 2 sacks in the '89 divisional playoff game v the Rams?

      It was a dumb-ass comment asked by a guy who never put on a jockstrap. Wallace is obviously a smart guy, but only somebody who played competively for a long time can understand the importance of sports. Many great coaches - especially football coaches - are only satisfied when they're enraged. If your ass isn't on fire with every play, you're in the wrong business.

    ‘Success’ is such a complex word.
    When Wallace compared football to toys I thought Parcels was going to pop him.
    I was in Dallas in business at a cowboy/chiefs game. Dallas’ kicker and punter were on a desolate bench. They were muck it up having a good time laughing. Parcels noticed it and just stared for about “a life time” at the two. He didn’t go over there, never said a word to them. They got up, separated and stood on the sidelines. I’ll never forget that. It reminded me of what my dad was capable of doing when I was a child.

Two Super bowls with the Giants, took the Patriots from worst in the league to the super bowl, took the last place Jets and went to the AFC Championship game and during his last stop in Dallas took them to the playoffs!
    Not to mention great draft picks throughout his career. LONG LIVE THE TUNA ! JUST A QUESTION ? WOULD BILL BELICHICK WHO LEARNED UNDER PARCELLS BE THE BEST COACH EVER WITHOUT BRADY ? I BELIEVE HIS CAREER RECORD WITHOUT BRADY IS SOMETHING LIKE 80-94 !

      To your point, he was exactly one step less successful as his coaching career progressed---he won 2 super bowls with the Giants. He got the Patriots into a super bowl but lost. He took the Jets to the AFC championship game but lost. He got Dallas back in the "tournament" but lost in the opening round. He was in the front office in Miami, but bailed before there was a turnaround. He was a great coach, but his impatience grew as he got older.
