I can use a background with Skype but not with zoom. I don't have a green screen and the background will just NOT adjust with Zoom. Really sucks. I get all blurred mixed in with the background itself regardless of the picture.
It’s totally unfair that it works for some and not others. One workaround for a cheap green screen is purchasing a green table cloth from a Dollar Tree and mounting it behind you. Works like a charm.

I can set the image to 16:9 but it isn't part of cropping, I also don't have "adjust". Are you sure this is an option on the free version? My screen looks different than the one in the video.
So, It's April 2020. I followed the steps and Zoom will not allow me to use the new Blurred image without a green screen. Any images that are uploaded, must have the green screen option checked and then the background is glowing through the human and making them look like an Alien. Zoom is really terrible (in my opinion). Applying a Blur should not take an enormous amount of effort.

For some reason Windows 10 on a Dell laptop will allow a virtual background in Zoom, but the image is speckled and my face does not appear. I've been told this has to do with my computer. So in my case, the blur background you create is just another virtual background that will not work in Zoom on my computer. thanks anyway!!
Katt ! Check out my other videos for troubleshooting your virtual background. It sounds like it won’t work because your computer isn’t compatible without a green screen. I have a great video that shows you affordable options for the best green screen for zoom meetings.
You forgot to teach us how to actually save the settings or force this (objectively horribly and poorly designed) client to actually do the setting its telling me it should be doing.

The current Zoom update allows you to blur the background. Simply go to the background filter section and select 'blur'.

Click on the video in the canvas area to reveal the Trim, Adjust and Crop tools.
Or just use Skype, it does it automatically!

Tried this without a green background. It totally failed. ZOOm couldn't distinguish where my face begins and the background ends. Very disappointed.
Zoom now has a blur background effect built in.

also, try to download the new zoom app. It is updated to fix a lot of these issues.
