The High Mass for the Feast of the Assumption this evening was beautiful. At the end, we all sang "O Holy Queen enthroned above...".
We sang this in our Novus Ordo Mass too😅
The permanent deacons I've met have been a great blessing. Visiting the sick and homebound frequently, helping with faith formation, and many other ministries in the parish. Definitely a lot more than just reading the Gospel and giving an occasional homily. If we didnt have our deacon I don't know how our pastor would manage. I suppose much of it is dependant on the diocese though.
Laura Horn would be great on engaging family prayer. Anyway her humor hits home. Yes she is married to Trent.

I want to clarify Fr Bs take on the ministry of deacon. I was ordained June 2002 and am incardinated in the Archdiocese of Milwaukee. A deacon's ministry is both parochial and societal . We are called to image Christ the Servant. A deacon is not called to be a liturgical fixture in the sanctuary We have specific actions to perform. We are not priests nor are we transitional or permanent. Deacon are ordained using the same Rite. Making this distinction is not supported by facts and only results in confusion for an already confused faithful. The priorities for ministry are his role as husband and father,his profession or career and lastly his ministry as deacon. If these get out of balance a formator will step in to help correct the situation. We are not ordained to take on the priest's role. I have ministered with many pastor's over the years. Deacons are required to have a spiritual director, make an annual retreat and be committed to
Continuing Education. It is my hope that Fr. B will be willing to change and come to a better place. Does he feel this way toward his OP student brothers

Why is it the case that Mary and Jesus appear differently during these apparitions? Sometimes the infant, sometimes the man, different nationalities… is this changeability a problem?

I am an Anglican, and I really do have a problem with this idea of Mary as the mediator of all graces, since Christ is supposed to be our only mediator. Even more, I have a problem with Mary as co-redemptrix. As much as I respect you guys, I get the feeling sometimes that Christ has been sort of shunted aside in your devotion, with Mary taking his place. I know that is not what you would say, but that is the effect.
May I recommend reading a relatively short book titled "Mary: The Church at the Source" by Hans Urs Von Balthasar and Joseph Ratzinger (Pope Benedict XVI). Look and read Lumen Gentium 60 and 62 for Vatican II's view on the substance of Mary's mediation. Also read Pope St. John Paul II's encyclical Redemptoris Mater. You'll find your answers there.

Love the show. Disappointed this time. I’m pretty sure the BVM deserves more respect than this. No one is required to believe personal apparitions but it’s sad when skeptics act like it’s all a scam. Sad.
Scripture does not forbid women from any service to the Lord only that they may not teach men....hilarious. But women are priest,prophet and ruler and we COULD be ordain to say mass/ teach/bless for women/children only. In the Amish church I could teach women/children about the scripture, if the authority of the church believed me sufficient in such things

If you reject a council of the Church you are in schism. Go to confession. Unless you are a protestant - they reject the Magisterium, too. Come back, the Church needs you.
