The balcony door being locked in a multistorey hotels is not that unusual. There are even hotels in London like the 28 storey Hilton on Park Lane , where security will only open the balcony door after you have signed a document taking full responsibility. Sadly such hotels are targeted by those wanting to take their own life, & hotels don't want to be liable for any compensation claims.

I guess the safety reasons for the balcony is the fact that they've had issues with people throwing their shit into the river from their balconies and they had to make a change. They don't need the problems. My theory though. Dale keeps finding hotels that are absolute GEMS

Dale if your looking for a special experience go to the AlAmein Hotel on the North Coast. It has the best beach I’ve ever been to and the setting is amazing. A proper hidden gem. I believe they have a Sofitel there as well. Go on, treat yourself

correct. falafel is the chickpea version and in egypt only popular in alexandria. but ta'amiya (the real deal) is made from fava beans and is popular all over the rest of egypt and sudan.
