Nah, I still think Psi Grading Duchess was a mistake, her Shield Stability made her a shotgun sniper, and having a shield meant that she would survive a lot more stuff on the battlefield. Now she's just a brittle shotgunner with some psi utility. There were better candidates for psi grading, like your pistol/autopistol users who can't shoot them without ending their turn, that soldier who doesn't have a secondary entirely, all of your sword users (if they don't have a better secondary), I would argue even some holotargeter users could probably be graded. A bunch of your rifle users who don't have a double shot ability could really use psi stuff as something to spend their 1 AP at. Plus come on, she was like, your one of two shielders the entire campaign and having the variety is just cool to look at/strategize around.
Reminds me of sunset from last season and bonkers her build was. I honestly think a lot of the assault/maurader classes have the most interest build combinations. Rattlesnake with that arc thrower is a beast
Place your bets, everyone, will Odd research Experimental Powered Weapon to get the Blaster Launcher upgrade for his Rocket Launchers before the end of the campaign or not?
1:25:56 Psi strength doesn't affect Void Rift directly. Void Rift is a guaranteed-hit damaging ability, and the damage for abilities like Void Rift or Null Lance is determined by the rank of psi amp the soldier is using. So Void Rift will do the same damage for Duchess, Cybernetic, or whoever else, given the same psi amp (the one exception is if a soldier has a boost like Unstable). Psi strength only affects the chance to hit of abilities that have a % roll of the caster's psi strength vs. the target's Will, such as Mind Control or Insanity. So, the only part of Void Rift that psi strength affects is the follow-up Insanity checks if the caster has that combo. Also, for Duchess, the one other thing that would *really* benefit her is Talon Rounds. Her shotgun build is all about crit (as you emphasized with her weapon mods), which is exactly what Talon Rounds are meant to synergize with. If you're having trouble finding a slot in her armor to equip those, remember you can buy that Bandolier ability for an extra ammo slot.
Agreed! If going to have the Exalt in future campaigns, the psionics should be toned down, way too OP. Imagine if one of the bigger baddies wasn't dominated the entire mission - the damage they could do and, even more, the damage they absorb. I suspect we would have seen another 3-8 fatalities without Cybernetic present. No real will loss so could go out nearly every mission if not wounded, 100% domination, way too many 1AP abilities, etc. Do like the Exalt and seeing the non-Amalgamation classes again, but the psionics need to be toned way down! In all honesty, if it weren't for Reshi's Requiem units, this campaign would have little to no suspense the past 20-30 missions, and it might already be over. First change I would make going forward for Season 10 is decreasing the domination chance by 50% and making all the gems allow 33% increased non-psionic damage to put some real risk for using a psionic - real risk for real reward!
Cybernetic hard carried me through force level 13-20 when I captured him in my campaign. When I realised I can keep his will high with "syphon will" which carries over at the end of the mission, the man was never tired and always out on missions.
@@ericbanks7375 The Requiem units are kind of the whole point of this modded campaign. X-com campaigns do not normally last over 100 missions as they are much easier that the enemies in this mod list; so you are correct, it probably would already be over already without the mods. This isn't saying anything about Cybernetic, who is only being brought to a few difficult missions, not the past 30 missions. Odd is still lacking any top level soldiers in this campaign as there have been so many losses and replacing them comes at significant cost. The challenge comes at taking as little damage as possible to allow more soldiers to be available for future missions, which allows the story missions to progress, instead of being stuck in a loop of never ending assault missions - real risk for real reward! I think there is a disconnect between how the templars & Psi soldier from exalt work vs the soldiers who go through psi training which is causing some issues. The templars and cybernetic both have very high natural psi offense, but any soldier with psi training has fairly low psi offence. So, with regards to the gems, the templars and cybernetic are very successful at using these (plus their natural abilities), but the soldiers from psi training are not (which is why we see the majority relying mostly on guns even with the psi training). I think templars and cybernetic could have their base psi offence lowered (as they can also benefit from psi boosting PCS), but the psi trained soldiers should have their base psi offence increased, so there is a reason to use the psi amp with them. Assume base psi + PCS will give an average (75%?) success rate on psi ability for units without increase psi defence.
Yet another day of reminding that Kainoa is a great candidate for psi grading, cause she has no secondary weapon at all. Preferably after taking a covert op to improve her combat intelligence, so you can maximize her capabilities.
Thoe Altars do impose a certain level of anxiety. Loving each episode, still! Over one hundred thanks for each amazing moment this series has given me!!! 😁
I know its a bit of a toss up with exalt captures vs recruiting people from the new pool but a interesting idea for future seasons might be you "capture exalt" using the skull jack and in doing so remove the control chip bringing up their 'suppressed' personality rather than the simulated on on the chip, this would let you have all the old pools open for exalt without blocking you out of new people from the pool, not sure how viable it would be to mod mechanics wise that type of black magic is beyond me.
54:04 "I cannot believe we missed that. Oh, two 70s in a row? Yeah... yeah... that checks out...." I think by now it's fair to say that you should absolutely never bet on a shot in the low 70s. I know I harp on this, and I won't discount the possibility of confirmation bias on my part, but even compensating for that possibility I still think that shots in the low 70s have a dramatically lower actual probability.
I don't know how EXALT survival rate is being calculated, but when I was playing and when I overkilled them, most of time they are not being survived at capture attempt. On the other hand, when I killed them just enough to "0" their health, most of time they survive, may be it's just coincidence. When Odd overkilled both EXALT units, I was almost sure that they won't survive.

"I certainly don't consider you unstable, and while I don't deny that keeping him on close observation is useful, maybe you could be a little less zealous about it. I understand he has an unnaturalness about him, almost to the point of being alien as you put it, but showing him that he is under watch and being scrutinised so frequently might make him contemplate being recalled to Exalt. I don’t know about you but something seems wonky with the loot drops in this mod list. All I ever get is hair triggers, auto loaders and experimental magazines…
Please clear the crack if it works how I think it does whenever he got a target he lose hp to get damage against them it probably won't matter if you take the shot or not, if you wanna test it test it outside the campaign, make a save throw him into a mission get your info load kind of thing. I don't want to see a soldier die just because of curiosity.
@kitsamkit2346 ok but there must be a catch is it removing hp from soldiers main pool? Like armor and pcs does help with it? If so what's the reason explaining if hp reduces from one soldier dies who would let a soldier with 1 hp knowingly triggers it?
Episode spoilers . . . . . . It's funny seeing all the enemies go for Future Gift Farms 'Cybernetic' Hitman and once the camera pans back to him, he's still at full health. Seeing him on missions is really a highlight of the campaign for me. He's hilariously fun to watch. I'm glad he was moved out of that Altar range! Rapunzel though...oof. She's at max corrosion stacks now too. Also I think the Altar was already set up hence why it could just activate? Not too sure about this. Edit: ALSO Butter continues to dodge the MEC training!! I am rooting for him to survive the campaign intact.
