hey mate just want to say firstly I find the whole reaction thing a little cringey and still uneasy about the whole thing but love seeing you discover one of my greatest bands of all time. Seeing you react to songs I grew up with is great to see so I'm slowly liking reactions I guess lol. However keep going with it. I would love you to view their video clips and still can't believe you haven't seen them they are off the planet
Hey if you want something to break up the Tool reactions a little, do some Primus - Jerry was a race car driver or Winona's big brown beaver would be awesome to see you react to!
Vicarious - like how we (as longtime Tool fans) get to experience these songs again for the first time through someone else's eyes. It's what makes the reaction TH-camr genre so appealing: watching people love what we love.
I really do treasure every time I get to introduce a friend who has never heard Tool to them. Even if they don't catch the lyrics the first time, the music is just so, so good.
People sleep on this album so hard. I get that it takes a "step back" from Lateralus's general theme of transcendence into something more personal and emotional, but this is still an absolutely beautiful and perfectly executed album.
Justin is frequently overlooked when commentators and fans gush about the barkingly wild skills of Mr Carey, Mr Jones and Mr Keenan. The band would not work at all unless they had an incredibly skilled, innovative and hard working bass player. Justin Chancellor is about as important to Tool as Danny Carey.
This is an evisceration of “news entertainment,” an industry which thrives on the sensationalism of human tragedy, while at the same time, MJK admits that such an industry wouldn’t exist if humans didn’t seem to have an endlessly insatiable appetite for the misery of others. This is one of my favorite Tool songs, as I just love the lyrics, MJK’s delivery, and the ebb and flow of the instrumentals, which build to a typical badass Tool crescendo at the finale. Lots of other good songs on this album, as others have said, but my next favorite seems less popular: ‘Right in Two.’ It’s another critique on human nature and our propensity for violence, tribalism and greed, but this time from the perspective of angels.
Ahhh Vicarious. My absolute favorite Tool song. The entire 10000 days album was just solid. Really listen to the lyrics. Especially around 4-6 minute mark.. It is extremely relevant to today's societies
Is there a TooL album that isn’t solid? Lord have mercy they’ve landed spot on with each album. Fear Inoculum is insanely relative...particularly since it was released in August of 2019. The first song released from Lateralus was Schism...which is a division between strongly opposed parties, caused by differences in belief.” Lateralus was released in May of 2001...just months before September 11th. Then AEnima and it’s first release Stinkfist. Stinkfist obviously being a metaphor based on precisely what goes through ones mind reading that word. But the lyrics speak of our desensitization and us constantly wanting more even when we get exactly what we want. Hence why the song begins with “fingers” and end in “elbows”. Metaphorically saying “initially the finger is enough yet we just need more.” The album was released in 1996...just absolutely amazing.
When you get to Wings for Marie Part 1 & 2, I highly recommend you check out "Judith" by A Perfect Circle first. It's generally accepted as the first part of the "Maynard's Mom Trilogy" and helps you appreciate how far he came from his mom's situation. You may want to check out that backstory first to know why that is such a powerful "trilogy." Also, it's critical you do Wings For Marie Part 1 & 2 together as one leads into the other, just as it's important to do Lost Keys & Rosetta Stoned together for the same reason.
What an opener! Classic, exotic build up to that rollocking riff, and it just dozznt stop for nearly 9 minutes. When you know how extended their songs get, its amazing to hear such momentum, all guns blazing swagger and everybody shooting to thrill ,without much departure from the get go over the entire song. Huge chorus, seething, but infectious melodies - Adam peeling and chugging out those grooves, Justin's exotic to elastic sounding bass taking things even elsewhere in the background, and the rolling thunder of Danny propelling Maynards near hushed warnings to an all out assault at the volcanic finale. That build up to the big bang over the final coupla minutes is just fuckin' class. And, with Jambi, the battering ram through the barricades continues- thats one of their most rocking songs. As much as I love Tool's progressive tangents and brilliantly lengthy journeys, its just deadly hearin 'em kick the shite out of things so relentlessly like this. Class reaction, lad. Enjoy the rest of the album- it gets deeper and deeper as you further on.
this is this album's biggest problem, it just feels like 3 massive clusters of songs put together, pretty evident with the placement of wings 1 and 2 in the middle of the album just makes the atmosphere weird in my opinion
This album is a masterpiece. Some people are too afraid to admit this is their best album. It's very close between this and laterlaus for me. I personally think the musicianship in this album is the peak of all of their powers. Keep reacting brother! Awesome!
Life is complete now. Can't wait to see the look on my children's faces when they ask if the greatest moment of my life was when they were born, and I declare: "Hell no! It was the crisp evening of November 9th, 2019...."
Man I love this song. It hits hard, it makes a point but gets there quickly enough and with language you dont have to think too hard about. Basically it's the song I use to introduce people to Tool since it's not like 10 minutes long.
Oh come on Drew! You gotta be honest, ya never heard a better band than Tool!! And we are just getting into this album... This is an epic ride and we are on it. Keep up the good work bro! 👊
What a great song to start off with - Vicarious is one of my all-time favorite Tool songs, possibly my favorite, since I'm in 1000000% agreement with what Maynard is saying in the lyrics. It's such a scathing indictment of our social media culture these days - "The Universe is hostile, so impersonal - devour to survive; so it is, so it's always been" Absolutely true and man... Something we all really need to remember from time to time. The Universe doesn't care - it's the people in it that care.
10,000 Days is my favorite album. Every album is good, but 10,000 Days to me is special personally. Just what was happening in my life at the time and how it helped me through everything, and was the soundtrack during those days. Also seeing them live right after it was released. 8:38 mark of Rosetta Stoned live - you'll know what I'm talking about when you hear that part.
Wings for Marie part 1 and 2 is probably the most beautiful song I have ever heard. The music and meaning of the song makes me tear up every time I listen to it. Maynard is one of the best vocalists and lyricists in the world.
Right! Kind of important! When you get to wings part 1&2, first you should really do 'Jimmy' (tool) and then 'Judith' by 'A perfect Circle' (one of Maynards other bands). They tell the story in that order of his mother, her illness, his childhood, his anger and then finally acceptance of what happened to her. Incrediby powerful stuff. You need lyrics for every part and when you do wings, its CRITICAL that you do them both together.
I think this was the most excited you've been since Forty Six & 2!! Can't wait until you get to Lost Keys/Rosetta Stoned...that's a top 5 Tool track in my book! 👌
Now that is the reaction I've been waiting for! Now I KNOW you feel Tool like your meant to lol. Vicarious is great to listen to in the car, loud as hell belting the lyrics. It's basically about how sick we are as people, we act like we're disgusted by these atrocities but at the same time we can't wait to see the next tragedy....as long as it's happening to someone else. Jambi is f'in awesome, one of my top tracks. The songs Jimmy, Judith by a perfect circle, then wings 1&2 tell a story. Then lost keys, rosetta stoned and intension go together. Can't wait to see tomorrow's reaction. I'm officially staying subscribed now.Lol
I’ve wondered for a while now why I enjoy reaction videos so much. After watching this video, I know exactly why. Watching someone else’s first reaction to an awesome song reminds me of how I felt the first time I listened to it, since I can’t ever listen to it for the first time again. Keep up the great vids man!
this song is one of my top favorites along with jambi! i’d also recommend karnivool, you’ll really love them. but i definitely suggest their themata album over anything else. lifelike, roquefort, shutterspeed are my personal favorites. awesome reaction! ✌🏻
Yes! I've been looking forward to your reaction to this album, so many favourites on here and Vicarious is the 1st song that got me into Tool so many years ago. I can't wait to see what you think of the rest!
The best example of the definition of vicarious is reaction videos. I cannot have the experience of listening to this song for the first time ever again. But I can have that experience vicariously through you. Thank you for such a wonderful gift.
Drew... I've probably heard this song, among the rest, hundreds or thousands of times... They NEVER get old. It's ironic, though, that I'm watching this and living VICARIOUSLY through your experience as you react to your first listen. I love the videos, man... Keep them going!
Great reaction man! In this age of easily digestible 'music' it's awesome to see someone understanding and enjoying some REAL music. Definitely one of the best react channels I follow. You're gonna trip balls on this one. 😀
Best walk out, total climax moment at the crescendo of the song. Bro I've been following your journey and I love that you're truly embracing Tool's catalogue. When I saw you reacted to Third Eye I was like, sold. Best Tool reactions on youtube. Please do smash out this album, more than any other I feel that 10,000 days is supposed to be listened to as a whole piece. Songs like Intension and Right in Two, Lost Keys (Blame Hoffman) and Rosetta Stoned. This album is the absolute epitome of sound and art imo.
Honestly, Drew, the fact that you have uploaded this many Tool reactions, more than any other person I watch has made me subscribe to you and I'm so close to signing up to Patreon. As others have said brother, Wings for Marie and 10,000 days go together and same for Lost Keys and Rosetta Stoned. Keep up the good work dude!
Lmao. I loved your reaction. I vicariously lived through you during this reaction, remembering my own reaction when first listening to this song. Every song on this album is amazing. You're in for a treat.
You'll definitely like Jambi and The Pot. Wings for Marie and 10000 Days are really two parts of the same song about the death of his mother so prepare for the feels. Lost Keys/Rosetta Stoned is weird as hell, so brace yourself.
Fucking love this song so much. Never been able to decide which I like better, this or Rosetta Stoned. My two all time favorite Tool tracks. Actually, two of my all time favorite tracks from anyone.
I've worked in TV News for the last 25 years. This song IS me. It's everything I feel watching news...numb to horror and corruption, to death and destruction. Pretty sure this is my all-time favorite Tool track, though "Invincible" is gaining fast.
You're in for a ride with this album. I think this might be my favorite Tool album. Oddly enough, it was panned by a lot of fans when it came out. Like others have said, you gotta do Wings for Marie and 10,000 Days together. Also, check out Karnivool when you're done with Tool.
Awesome reaction. That’s the way it should be. Without saying a word I can see you dissecting the layers of sound. And yes, they sound exactly the same live!!!
Love your reactions! The whole album is a Classic! Like ALL their albums! Each of their works you can see a step of evolution in how they write songs. You will thoroughly enjoy
Gotta say man, from watching one of your first reactions to Tool, to this one, you can see it's slowly infected ya and on this one particularly you can really see you feeling it, it's just awesome to watch. Fuck, I'd make my own reaction channel if I hadn't heard it all already, but you make people almost feel it in a way as if they're hearing it for the first time, like we are Vicariously feeling that first time intrigue again, through you. Thanks mate.
I will always remember exactly where I was the first time I heard this song. I knew it was going to play on the radio the day before the album was released. I was at work waiting patiently. I heard the first 3 notes and shouted 'New Tool!"
10,000 days (27 years) is the time between MJK's mothers stroke which left her paralysed and bound to a wheel chair until her death (the song Jimmy is about it) When doing wings for Marie make sure it's part 1 and 2 (10,000 days) you need to listen to both. The same with lost keys/rosetta stoned, both together.... You got a little giddy there for a second 😂😂😂
I would also recommend the Australian band Karnivool and the album Sound Awake. If you like Tool, you will also love Karnivool. Karnivool certainly do not rob the Tool just have a locally similar vibe at times. Try them, you won't regret it. Small big tasting from the album th-cam.com/video/WbLEYQo98t0/w-d-xo.html
Absolutely! After you go through 10k days, Salival and Opiate (eventually), you have to listen to A Perfect Circle and Karnivool. Sound Awake is their best album so far, brilliant in every way possible. Cheers
Get The Memo? I heard they’re actually coming out with a new album soon! They replaced their singer and from what I’ve heard the album is coming out in 2020?
Great reaction. Can't wait for the rest of this album. It's my fave. You're in for a ride. Jambi, 10000 days , the pot, Rosetta stoned, right in two next.
This song was my intro to Tool. A roommate randomly played the music video and it and the song blew my mind! That was in 2006 and have been addicted ever since!
He's speaking to the fact that humanity in general has always been hostile. How nature is hostile. How we have always been a species of animal that is violent and although we may not admit it, we are drawn to violence and stories of violence as we see on the news over and over. It's a sad fact of life. "pull your head on out your hippie haze and give a listen. Shouldn't have to say it again. The universe is hostile so impersonal. Devour to survive so it is, so it's always been. We all feed. On tragedy. Its like blood to a vampire"
2:25 getting psyched to go make the buy 2:30 waiting for it to kick in 2:37 “Is it working yet?” 2:42 “oh, yeah! IT’S WORKING!” 4:40 “maybe I’m hitting the plateaqauuuu... PFFT NAH” 5:21 realizing you’ve hit your first peak 5:58 really peaking now 6:45 that causal down-peak slope 7:05 “wait. Where are we?...” 7:29 feeling the vibes 7:55 next peak, incoming 8:28 this time stamp is just for song song. For fooks sake. 8:59 “it’s over.. already?”
I love to watch someone discover the genius of tool. The moment the person realizes how great the music is they get a look on their face. Just like this guy
No shit, I've watched this video five times. I'm a 50 year old long term fan of Tool. It's quite a thrill to see a young guy get so jazzed listening to Vicarious for the first time. I'm experiencing it vicariously through Drew's ears. It's good shit.

That joy was contagious. I felt like I was hearing this one again for the first time. Awesome reaction.

Hahaha yeah fuck yeah bro.
Yeah, I was excited for him. I honestly feel like i experience it again for the first time watching reactions. Especially Drew.
Lol. Irony much

So true man, it's addictive.
Complete truth. Love seeing 20 year old rock out on tool
This! I am so loving watching him go down this road...cuz as we all know- there is no going back.
People sleep on this album so hard. I get that it takes a "step back" from Lateralus's general theme of transcendence into something more personal and emotional, but this is still an absolutely beautiful and perfectly executed album.
It is the best album for sure. Laterals is a 9.85 and 10,00 Days is a 9.99!!!!
This was definitely Justin's album. The bass guitar in every track on the album is insane
It’s fucking monstrous and even more monstrous to play. Especially the solo on this record. On the plus, makes NNN a whole lot easier.
I thought the same, the basslines in 10,000 days are just awesome!!
All albums infact since justin joined
You have to do Lost Keys/Rosetta Stoned together.
As someone who considers Lost Keys/Rosetta Stoned their favorite from Tool I concur.
His mind will be blown
there is no other way to listen to them.
Actually I lied, the hidden track with Faaip de Oiad is also acceptable.
WITH LYRICS. that's important with Rosetta Stoned heh
Start with lipan conjuring
CANT WAIT FOR WINGS FOR MARIE
ITS OK TO TEAR UP WHEN "IT" HAPPENS.
impossible not to..
I approve this message, if you dont cry, you're missing a piece of your soul.
Every. Single. Time...
I cut onions often while listening.
I mean, if he doesn't, he's not human tbh
vicarious its probably not tool's deepest song or complex on their sound but its one of my all time favorites and amazing way to start an album.
Wings for Marie Part 1 and 2 need to be done together. A real tear jerker when you understand.
This is an evisceration of “news entertainment,” an industry which thrives on the sensationalism of human tragedy, while at the same time, MJK admits that such an industry wouldn’t exist if humans didn’t seem to have an endlessly insatiable appetite for the misery of others.

Exactamundo
Nailed it!
Maynard had great foresight considering it has only gotten more ridiculous, sensationalist, and exploitative in the present day.
Also yeah. Do wings 1 and 2 together. They are meant to go together.
Ahhh Vicarious. My absolute favorite Tool song. The entire 10000 days album was just solid. Really listen to the lyrics. Especially around 4-6 minute mark.. It is extremely relevant to today's societies
One of the few songs without any additional layers of meaning (to me at least, I'm not native English speaker)
Is there a TooL album that isn’t solid? Lord have mercy they’ve landed spot on with each album. Fear Inoculum is insanely relative...particularly since it was released in August of 2019. Must be nice to experience all of this for the 1st time. I wish I could go back and experience TOOL again for the first time.
The 90's and TOOL... CLASSIC
Fookin’ wall ‘o’ sound, innit?
30th like
You look like one of my biggest enemies when I was about 18. So it took me a minute to come around. The Irish accent helped. Also Tool. Cheers brother
When you get to Wings for Marie Part 1 & 2, I highly recommend you check out "Judith" by A Perfect Circle first. It's generally accepted as the first part of the "Maynard's Mom Trilogy" and helps you appreciate how far he came from his mom's situation. Also, it's critical you do Wings For Marie Part 1 & 2 together as one leads into the other, just as it's important to do Lost Keys & Rosetta Stoned together for the same reason.
It's actually not the first, guess u forgot about Jimmy dude ;)
I was just going to add, Jimmy first.
Good thing he already did Jimmy.
Jimmy gets overlooked. It’s the most underrated and under appreciated Tool song. Sad. Jimmy’s first.
“Right in Two” will BLOW YOUR MIND 🤘

Make sure to record Wings for Marie pt1 and 2 together. And Lipan Conjuring, Lost Keys, and Rosetta Stoned together as well.
Yes - Drew, follow this advice for sure, they tell a story.....

Good stuff. You'll like this album a lot
I've worked in TV News for the last 25 years. This song IS me. It's everything I feel watching news...numb to horror and corruption, to death and destruction. Pretty sure this is my all-time favorite Tool track, though "Invincible" is gaining fast.
The breakdown in Right in two might make u cry bro
Great reaction as always
You're in for a ride with this album. I think this might be my favorite Tool album. Oddly enough, it was panned by a lot of fans when it came out. Like others have said, you gotta do Wings for Marie and 10,000 Days together.
Also, check out Karnivool when you're done with Tool.
Awesome reaction. That’s the way it should be. Without saying a word I can see you dissecting the layers of sound. And yes, they sound exactly the same live!!!
This album, as a whole, is my favorite!
Love your reactions! The whole album is a Classic! Like ALL their albums! Each of their works you can see a step of evolution in how they write songs. You will thoroughly enjoy
So excited for the pot and right in two
I became a Tool fan because of GH: World Tour (released October 26th, 2008). I was 10 years old at the time & I’ve been a Tool fan ever since.
Loved how honest your reaction was to Vicarious. 10,000 Days is an AWESOME album...glad you're discovering it.
VICARIOUSLY I just heard the song for the first time again by watching your reaction, my dude. That was an amazing experience! Bravo.
So glad you did this song. One of my top favorites. Much love from South Carolina.
Jambi, The Pot, Rosetta Stoned. This album has its charms.
Vicarious is the first Tool song I ever heard, back in 2006, at 17 this blew my mind, I have been a die hard fan ever since.
I just heard this song for the first time again vicariously through you, thanks. One of their best hands down.
10,000 days (27 years) is the time between MJK's mothers stroke which left her paralysed and bound to a wheel chair until her death (the song Jimmy is about it)
When doing wings for Marie make sure it's part 1 and 2 (10,000 days) you need to listen to both.
The same with lost keys/rosetta stoned, both together.... You got a little giddy there for a second 😂😂😂
❤️ excellent!!! I am a little jealous watching you experience this for the first time!!! I’ve been there!!! My favorite band!!!!
Of my favorite tool songs
Just saw them in Tulsa. Good God it was incredible. They played this song too. You the man!
This album went on repeat in my Winamp during the early days of WoW-grinding. Nostalgia and an amazing album!
Cheers
Sound Awake is a brilliant album. Karnivool are criminally underrated.
I also feel like he would dig Rishloo. They have some Tool influence.
Ohhh yeah they are amazing!!!
What ever happened to Lucid Planet? They came out in ‘15 from Australia also
Get The Memo? I heard they’re actually coming out with a new album soon! They replaced their singer and from what I’ve heard the album is coming out in 2020?
Love your reactions. I always enjoy watching people listen to Tool for the first time. You will enjoy this album for sure.
I have been waiting for you to react on RIGHT IN TWO for like last 3 months. Now that you're on 10,000 Days, can't wait for that.
I love Vicarious! It's such a great song. I can't wait to see you react to TOOL- JAMBI!!! :)
when you get to 10,000 days and part 2, they are about his mother. it's not as in your face. I recommend getting lyrical videos for them
Pretty sure he pulls up the lyrics in another tab
Great reaction. Can't wait for the rest of this album. It's my fave. You're in for a ride. Jambi, 10000 days , the pot, Rosetta stoned, right in two next.
Tickets for my town go on sale tomorrow morning. They are currently touring this song. Great reaction.
Your giddiness makes me giddy! I love watching you...vicariously living through your firsts.
I can’t wait for “Part of Me”, “Jerk-off”, ”4°” or “Sweat”…
I'm tired of waiting!
I was in la when they played
Part of Me. Phenomenal
Tools coming to Australia... fuck yeah!
This and Jambi are my 2 favorite Tool songs so I'm super glad you're doing them one after the other! :DD
My favorite song on this album!!
Welcome to 10,000 days 🤘🏻🤘🏻🔥🔥😈😈
Your smile says it all... better hold on sir 🍺
This song was my intro to Tool. A roommate randomly played the music video and it and the song blew my mind! That was in 2006 and have been addicted ever since!
just watched 4-5 of your Tool react videos, your reaction here was great, also love the green silk T
The way I feel EVERY TIME I HEAR THIS MAN! Awesome!
The joy on your face listening to this track is amazing!
What I wouldn't give to go back and have literally the EXACT reaction you had to TOOL upon first listen. Subscribed ❤️
So happy your finally on 10000 days. All of the songs are bangers
2:25 getting psyched to go make the buy
2:30 waiting for it to kick in
2:37 “Is it working yet?”
2:42 “oh, yeah! IT’S WORKING!”
4:40 “maybe I’m hitting the plateaqauuuu... PFFT NAH”
5:21 realizing you’ve hit your first peak
5:58 really peaking now
6:45 that causal down-peak slope
7:05 “wait. Where are we?...”
7:29 feeling the vibes
7:55 next peak, incoming
8:28 this time stamp is just for song song. For fooks sake.
8:59 “it’s over.. already?”
Jambi will change everything. That much was clear to me ever since Invincible. Get ready for that one. Lol
'Right in Two' and 'The Pot' next please!
