I completely forgot to go back and check. That is not a made up story, that is how my life goes waaay too much of the time. Oh, and it’s even better because 2 days ago I saw ants on the kitchen counter so I put a liquid ant bait where they were walking. That evening, it looked full so I put another one beside the first one. There are very few ants on the counter now but I’m not taking the bait away until they’re all gone. I had a 1996 Vette that I daily drove for 10 years. They are great cars, but here's a pro tip-when you're changing the water pump, go ahead and change the Optispark distributor. They die when the water pump leaks on them, and you have to take the water pump off to get to them anyway. Especially the early LT1 years, the distributor wasn't vented like it was in the later years. When it dies, it's pretty much no warning, one second you're driving, the next second it's dead. You might get lucky and have a moment when it restarts, or you might just be completely dead.
However, with all it's quirks, I loved my C4. I have a C5 now, which is in every way a better car, but I still miss my C4.

It's a Geo that has to be pretty easy to do, and probably pretty cheap. I mean at the worst you rip it apart spend 30 minutes or so and find out it has a cracked block or a warped head and you're like nope let's not do this, but I at least would have taken the head to off see.

Awesome to see the kids get involved with these videos. Thanks for including them in too. We taught our kids how to drive by the time they were old enough to ride bicycles! Also taught them how to to work on stuff too! Good Times!

Head gasket is super easy on those Geo's. Do the timing belt and idler pulleys at the same time and you've got a solid little motor for the next 200,000 km's.

Ohh, that why you're expanding the shop. It's for the kids 😂
In all seriousness It's awesome to see the boys grow up & and learn in this type of environment.

A head gasket isn't the end of the world on those sewing machine engines. He's most of the way there might as well finish the job.
Swap the head off the spent engine on to the runner with a fresh head gasket and a new timing belt.
Swap the water pump and radiator from the green machine too.
Be sure to douche the Babbitt off the head before you bolt it down to the other engine.
Worst case you sell the thing when you're all done doing the work. Those little cars are cheap to insure and cheap to drive and not as easy to collect speeding tickets in so they're not such a bad thing for a teenager.

And the knowledge is being passed on down the line. It's obvious what a great dad GpaSherm was.

These are the videos I enjoy the most...kids being kids, dad teaching, and providing memories they'll never forget.

The best thing about those Geodes is that when you crack them open, they're all glittery inside.
