I own a 6sp 2012 s4, and it is an absolute blast. I also did all the maintenance items you're doing (minus the mounts), and it was an adventure to say the least. I also highly recommend installing a stainless steel clutch line, and ditch the clutch delay valve. 1-2 shifts are a lot smoother, and you are given all the control back to the clutch. Removing the old line is just a pain in the ass. I would also replace the brake lines on each wheel to stainless steel, and bleed the brakes. With the maintenance, a cold air intake and a stage 1 tune, it's such an amazing drivers car.
Ha - I also have a 6MT 2012 S4. It's been superb for the 13 years of ownership. I've done stage 2 GIAC tune, the clutch delay removed. SS clutch line. Sways, Lowered on HR springs with Bilstein B8 Shocks, AWE exhaust, Short shift kit, flat bottom steering wheel, intake..... I'm selling it next year though - it's developed some rust and I'm ready for a change. Doing a 2025 Golf R. 5k is hard to believe. I paid almost 60k for mine new. I wouldn't sell it for less than 20k now. 25k perhaps.
Bro! You are steadily winning! You manage to line up simultaneously with a lot of other major hotrodders and TH-cam car enthusiasts 😂 we all seem to miraculously somehow snatch up these cheapies when the market seems to be chaotic. I am happy to see a young man with impeccable enthusiasm these days who aren't afraid of taking chances. High risk, high reward. That's how we win 🏆
It’s an excellent car u’ve acquired she’s a thoroughbred! I drive a 2011 BMW E90 6 speed manual 4 door salon an absolute thoroughbred as well and everything I’ve watched u build and how u present is fab to watch. Sadly I’m on hospice pancreatic and liver cancer is crushing me so to have such a well thought out scheme presented is well appreciated and I’m very looking forward to following along and see u sort this beast out. I’ve used FCPEuro for countless projects on my E36 now parked with 368,000 and to find a company that has everything under one roof is a godsend. Good luck with this and again thank u for this excellent channel!!!
I'd argue the A3, S3 platform is Audi's most tunable platform (MQB Chassis and EA888.3 motor) since it shares the bones of the Golf R / GTI. But the S4 is an excellent platform, that 3.0T is complicated, but very reliable. Enjoy that thing and love the content!
@@JacobHalfman You just need to replace literally everything in a 2.0t to make even close to a FBO S4, you will still get beat by the S4 but if you are running spacecraft grade fuel you can say you have a 600 HP S3 / Golf R which you can literlaly never ever use.
Every higher mileage b8 s4 I’ve seen needed timing chain guides/timing chain. If you don t know when it was done you ought to do em in my opinion even tho you’ll need to pull the engine
Congratulations on your purchase! I have the exact same colour S4 with DSG transmission here in the UK, got it 5 years ago straight from Audi approved in mint condition and in love with it ever since! The tune makes a massive difference as well, it will bring the car alive (I went with 034 and it's amazing). Good luck with the mods!
Love these cars. I recently had a ‘16 6 speed that unfortunately had to sell but it was fun while it lasted. I would recommend getting the valves walnut blasted as these engines have excessive carbon build up by 100k miles more times than not.
These are excellent cars. They're complicated to work on, but very reliable when well maintained. Been called the Audi Camry lol. People take these things to over 200k miles on stage 2+, which is roughly a 150hp increase over stock. Main things to look out for is the PCV system, which can be easily deleted And the cats, which clog and can seize the engine when they fail. Other than that, the only thing that ever really causes issues is the auto trans, which obviously isnt a problem for you. A couple upgrades i consider an absolute must are -Heat exchanger -front subframe brace -Drivetrain bushing inserts -rear swaybar Enjoy the car man! I absolutely loved my b8.5 S5. An almost perfect daily driver imo.
This car and A6 from 2015nare the dream. There is something special about these models. Love the content. Love the colour, love the car. Keep it going and take care of it please.
These rock, I've had 2 b8s now. Sold my old one to my brother. Will be buying these for daily drivers for the next 10 years I think as its one of the last sports sedans with a 6 speed.
You're my favourite youtuber and person, you pretty much got me into film photography and now you got me hooked to your car projects too. The content is always good, no matter what. But what makes it extra special is your personality. Sometimes I feel like I want to be like you, a chill and cool guy. Thank you so much for all your videos and photos, really makes me day!!
I actually built a 09 Audi A4 2.0t with 650hp i also swapped out the 6spd automatic with a ZF8HP55. I put in a CTS big boss 600 turbo 83.5mm JE racing pistons, Total Seal gapless rings and AWE catback exhaust quad outlets. It sounds incredible it makes 28lbs of boost. I cant wait for summer again so I can take it out. I been building it for a year now. I would love to have that 3.0 super charged engine. Can't wait to see what you do.
Very nice, Man! Stoked to watch this series! I love the Volvo V70R, as I had an S60R for a few years and loved it; minus the turning radius 😂;, but I’m an Audi guy at heart. I just sold my B8 S4 after 10 years because I wasn’t ready to do what you’re about to do, because of other Audi projects. If you have to do the catalytic converters, pray and use lots of PB Blaster or a MAP gas torch. They are a total pain. Took me 13 hours over 3 days because I was on jackstands in my garage. Woof. Keep them coming!
@@ihate_5x108 Salt should be illegal. Here in norway, working on cars is simply not enjoyable. You spend more time stripping bolts and grinding away and welding rust holes than actually modding / repairing the car. My car has only been driven through winter once in its 26 year old life, and its completely rotten underneath, FROM ONE WINTER
@ that’s insane that it gets that bad. Most bolts are hard to break free on any car in the Midwest US, but you can still find some clean cars. I drive my wagon every winter and wash it every week or two and it’s pretty much spotless underneath. Volvo also did a great job rust-proofing those cars, so I’m sure that a big contributor to its condition.
Nice video. I’m owning a 2013 S4 estate with approx. 100k milage. It has a stage 1 and open air filter, resulting in about 400bhp. Very strong and reliable car. Of course, it need proper maintance and that’s it gets too. Interesting to see how you get your’s fixed for the cross country ride.
Wow! I remember watching your channel with the Volvos when you had 500 subs!! Now 66k!?! Well deserved, best channel on YT. Amazing content. Great work man!
Not sure about this specific engine, but my guess is a complete swap on timing components/guides would be very smart since many S/RS eat them like cookies. And did I see some blue smoke from the exhaust when revving? Maybe check the valve stem seals just to be sure, my guess is they could be due to a refresh as well.
I'm a huge fan of this brand. And even because of the Quattro and the design. You're lucky. A car like this here in Portugal, even with mechanical problems, can be expensive to buy. Around 30000 euros more or less.
Knew you from your photography, just today realizing you're into cars as well!!! My dad had a B8.5 S4 when I was younger and that car was such a joy to ride in and drive once around the neighborhood lol. Looking forward to the series!
I'm gonna watch closely because this car is related to mine in an interesting way. Audi stopped producing A4 B7 in 2009 and moved the production line to Spain and made my current car: Seat Exeo - an audi clone that was made until 2013. It's the last VW car to have the legendary 1.8T engine :)
These are fantastic! I have a soft spot for VW, Porsche and Audi (as well as Volvo and the humber Mazda Miata). Your car choices are like a rewind through my experience of owning and driving various cars like this over the decades. Cheers, Willem? ✌
My audi A6 avant has the same engine. It has 207k Miles on it, I'm sure this car with all the maintenance you are doing should be very safe to do a cross country trip. When you take the supercharger off make sure to check your supercharger intercoolers for leaks though.
I was looking at buying one of these years ago but went with a small SUV because I knew I would want to hit some backroads. As usual, love the videos. Keep Killing it.
Honestly, for that model/colour combo even with issues 5k is a bargain! Looks really clean for 110k. Also quick glipse of all your cars/projects would be nice in one of the future videos please👀

I envy people from the US being able to buy 10,20,30 year old cars that don't have a spec of rust on them and every bolt loosens up easily
