Whenever you do these LS swaps, I'd always recommend grabbing the 2010 Corvette water pump and then grab a CTS-V accessory drive (04-07 is best). Werksracing has a kit if you can't find them yourself for the Sky/Soltice that will work. That will give you far more room in front of the engine for large radiators and good fans.
Check the trunk for the welds on the floor. With the Z3M the rear subframe attaches to the floor and the welds break and the hanger underneath break. Especially putting a LS in it.
The importance of this can't be overstated. Stock power is enough to completely destroy the rear subframe mounting points. No way they'll hold up to LS power
Also that piston from the most rusted cylinder suddenly looked new... If that was my motor and I was doing a cheap build, I install at least a new piston and rings in the rusty cylinders and install new rings everywhere else. While I had the pistons out (which is just a couple of bolts once the heads and oil pan are off), I'd at least hone all of those cylinders. Finally I'd inspect all of the bottom end bearings and the wrist pins, plastiguaging the bottom end bearings. It is so simple to freshen the motor up once it is torn down to the point the heads and oil pan are off, it just doesn't make any sense to not invest the extra few hours.
@Vgk36 Yes, I agree. The cam bearings should also be inspected and potentially replaced. In my personal experience, though, I've gotten away with running old cam bearings, as long as they visually look in decent condition. Also, once the cam is installed in a dry fit (or using an extremely thin lubricant), I will physically move the cam up/down & side to side and make sure it doesn't feel like there is more than a few thousandths of an inch of clearance. One challenge for me with cam bearings (for a typical V8 at least) is that I don't have the right tool to replace them myself. I don't know the statistics on in block cam bearings but I've only had one fail and that was due to a lifter first failing, taking out the related cam lobe, and the shrapnel that got into the bearing took it out. The lifter bore was destroyed (another thing that should be at least visually inspected), so I ended up switching to another block that I had.
Hi rich you don’t know this but my mom once dated you a long time ago and for some reason I grew up without a dad. Kind of strange she recognized you on my TV
Shoutout to Terry!!!💪🏼 it’s amazing how much work can be completed when you got the right person to help you that really wants to work and not just shadow you on your channel bc of how many subscribers you have…!😂😂 Just kidding guys…!!! I love each and everyone of you guys that’s been here even if they only brought a bag of chips, that rich don’t like…😂😂😂🤦🏻♂️😎😂
She's gonna be real careful with that power but it's her friends that's gonna tear it up. Hopefully she will ensure her friends will never go behind the wheel.
Funny to see how your spoiling your daughter, i hope she has a good income cause the pay for insurance overhere in nl for a young unexperienced driver with a v8 car would be painstakingly high.
Headers look and sound great, but exhaust manifolds tend to fit better in tight places. I'm not sure you'd even be giving up usable power to put them on this engine in this car. Fun project you have going!
I guess Rich has forgotten about how he almost killed his "best friend" by putting hm in teh driver seat of an overpowered rear wheel drive race car. Hopefully he doesn't almost kill his daughter too.
She's in the northeast going into winter, I'd be more concerned with heat, and like said it's a convertible. Need cool air, drop the top and floor it. (Assuming his daughter even gets to drive it for more than 15 seconds in a skit before he takes it back and says it needs more upgrading.)
its crazy that you upload a LS rebuild video, because thats all I've been watching lately since you havent uploaded in like 2 yeasr, J/K about that last part, but keep the videos coming Unc
I considered buying one of these and most of them I looked at had trunk floor/subframe mount damage. Do yourself a favor and reinforce it before it breaks. Fixing it afterwards is a lot of work
Any updates for the Model D, Rich? I know last time in the Q/A-shop tour vid, you mentioned that you were hoping to give us an update on it soon, but it has been quite some time since then.

bad idea bro.
Hey Rich I have a 07 Z4 Roadster, do you think a LS would work in that? Would you be willing to help a subscriber 🙄out?
Yessirrr!! She's super lucky to get an LS Swapped Z3!🔥🔥 I'm planning on putting the LQ9 in my Z3!🔥🔥

The sentiment about never sending anything to a machine shop is REAL 😂

0:40 The look on his son's face is priceless.
Terry was like, "This is ill-advised, and I'm here for it. As in, like, literally here for it."
Y'all had Negan roll up with his crotch-mount torque tube to help line up the clutch. FUCKIN' LEGENDARY
Like for real tho i think that is Jeffery Dean Morgan
