Their harmonies are legendary. In fact, when some people do originals people will say, "That sounds like the Everly Brother's harmony" You won't hear that about anybody else. Last time I saw them live was at the 1984 New Orleans World's Fair...magical!

I went through Marine Boot Camp in MCRD, San Diego in 1961. After boot camp I went through 2nd ITR at Camp Pendleton. 2nd ITR is 2nd infantry battalion for Marines leaving boot camp to train as infantrymen. The Everly brothers were in a company that was further along in training than my company. They were Marine reservists. They earned my respect as singers and as men.

Hello there , nice man.Y you are saying a lot of great 😅 thing’s about these young gentlemen, but, we, (I,) have been listening to these ❤ outstanding human beings, since early 50,s, And feel privileged, and yes, blessed, to have been both ,in year 1941, close enough to Don, and Phil, Don, 1937, Phil, 1939, it is now 28th July, year 2023, and I am just 6 weeks away from my 82nd birthday. Pretty old, I guess. I am a widowed lady, for the past 15 years.I live in Ireland 🇮🇪, a small, but beautiful ❤ country, lots green luscious, land, with the most beautiful scenery in the world, right next to our nearest neighbours, England 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿, just over the pond, as they say!. I am glad, you seem to be mesmerised, and completely bowled over, by the extraordinary musical talent of these exceptional young men. Two Kentucky kids, we reared, well behaved, so decent, pure gentlemen, all due to the wonderful tutelage, they received from their parents, father, Ike Everly, and mother Mary. Their father 👴 Ike Everly, was a master guitarist, and taught , almost everyone and anyone , how it was done. The family had their own 😊 radio show, in Brownie, Kentucky,(I think 🤔), when Don and Phil were just at the tender ages of 3 and 5 years of age! The rest is history. Beautifully mannered, meticulously dressed , both v handsome ❤, beloved all over. They showed all the “ giants in music 🎵 business, from Simon& Garfunkel, to BuddyHolly, Beatles,Dire Straits, and many more, how to master the “ guitar riffing rhythm 🎶,yet never were they rivalled, never! Paul Mc Carthney, admitted , they copied The Everly’s, harmonies, ( like so many others), but we’re never 👎 able to get it quite right As Paul Simon said,,,” their harmonies were pure , pristine!! Wonderful, wonderful, artists, and humble human beings. Never again to be replaced. So honoured to have been around , in their lifetime. And treasured within my heart 💜 forever. Along with Neil Diamond. R, I, P Don, & Phil Everly. Molly O’ Connell.Ireland.

The ‘secret’ to their beautiful harmonies is that they are brothers.
The shape and size of their throat, chest, mouth and pharynx, and nasal cavities are very similar - even for brothers. This gives them the same timbre and resonance. Then there is their enunciation and accent - almost identical, because they grew up together.

I much prefer the Righteous Brothers. While Rolling Stone magazine expresses one opinion, I express another. The Righteous Brothers rendition of "You've Lost that Lovin' Feelin'" was the most played song on radio stations in the 20th century. The Everly Brothers didn't even come close. While harmonies are important, the Everly Brothers were a one-trick pony in that regard. They simply weren't the best of the best -- in my opinion. For me, one-trick ponies just don't make the grade.
