How do you effectively redirect negative behaviors while maintaining your professionalism at work?
A DeNae First of all congratulations on your graduation, I’m so excited for you!! To answer your question, it depends on the “variables”. The first thing I try to do is acknowledge that I hear their comment/remark regardless of how inappropriate it is. I then let them know I’m aware that their anger or rude comment is misdirected or not appropriate and give them an opportunity to change their narrative. Then I set a limit or guideline that the behavior will not be tolerated by me. If no change in their action or verbiage, then I stick to my word and I take action. Initial action on YT is a delete and block. Sometimes I keep some of the comments on YT so others can see actual mental health mindsets in action. I can ignore folks easily now. Life is to short and I will never get paid enough to tolerate or accept verbal abuse. One of the variables I have to always remember is: is this person sick and in need of my guidance or is this a behavioral issue. I have way more tolerance for TRUE mental illness. 99% of patients come back later and apologize, and that makes me smile. I always immediately accept their apology because for anyone to apologize is a big step. Now for staying professional. TBH, that is not always the case. Sometimes you have to meet people where they are in their mental illness for them to understand you. So , I would say there have been times when I haven’t been professional, but felt it was appropriate at the time, If that makes sense. You will get to learn your patients and the milieu and how management allows or expects you to run the unit. Wellbutrin is not a ssri. It's the same thing on the shelves to help someone quit smoking. I forgot the name but I did my research. Plus it made me hate smoking. This shit isn't for everyone. I don't even recommend this one really. Doctors pushing meds when people need to seek God is sometimes the main problem with schizophrenia. They have misdiagnosed so many people and these drugs can create chaotic crisis's and death. It's sad how many people are suffering now from mental illness and I do believe the government has a lot to do with it.

For Aristada it’s recommended to tap the syringe 10 times and shake vigorously for 30 seconds to ensure uniform suspension. That should help with clumping.
Hi, Miss Lynn: I have been receiving invega sustenna for 6 months now. 6/7 times I did not get any injection site reaction on the deltoid besides pain, which I put ice on it because it gets sore. The 6th time I got a hardened lump on my left deltoid that was red at first It's getting smaller but very slowly. This was in the beginning of March, the seventh time I had no reaction. When I got it the 6th time the pain was excruciating, it may have been the way my psychiatrist administered it because the nurse went on vacation. Now looking at this VERY informative video 👏, I see there are 2 gages. They may have used the bigger Gage because I am 176lbs sometimes 166lbs (my weight fluctuates My question is, how long will it take for the hardened lump to go away? And since I have to get the injection in the left deltoid in a week, will my nurse have to work around it? Are there ways I can get rid of the lump? I exercise every day. Thanks 💜
TheKillersFan 333 Hello, most often than not, the result of injection injury or discomfort is usually due to how it was administered. The person giving the injection should ensure that it’s in the muscle for starters. As a recipient, you should always try to relax that muscle so that the needle can enter the injection site with greater ease. As for the healing, where that lump is, everyone is different. I’ve known some to last as little as a week or as long as 3 weeks. You keep monitoring it and make sure it’s not getting bigger. Follow up with your doctor if you see any changes or have any concerns or questions about it. If you get a fever, that could be a sign of infection and you would definitely need medical attention. Take care.
Mrs.Lynn this medicine has been suggested for my son. He is talking more on caplyta on abilify he was not as verbal. I am scared to loose him speaking . we have noticed that caplyta has not really suppressed all of the negative or positive symptoms. Would you suggest trying something else?
@@dreamznaspiratons7064 I often wondered about that. Sometimes his mannerisms would change and he would speak softly and point kind of child like. But with that there should be something traumatic in his life and I do not recall or know of anything very traumatic in his life.

Thank you so much for your question. The weight suggests that your daughter is more than likely a minor child. Invega is contraindicated in children under 12 years of age. It’s very important that you discuss side effects, age, weight, and short term, long term efficacy with the prescribing physician. As a nurse, it’s outside of my scope of practice, even negligent to speculate or provide advice regarding medication and “if” the dose is ok. The physician has all background information regarding your daughters current condition and history and would be the best at answering your question fully. The best to you!

Hello, the “example” box does not have to match , however, the actual injection packaging should match. There are higher dosages labeled for Trinza, but without all of the information it’s hard to answer this question. Always confirm dosage amounts with the provider. There is currently long acting Sustenna, Trinza, and now Hayfera, so it can be quite confusing.
"You will never have time to read all this. Look at all this." - lol Love it! Thanks for the video! I've never seen this used before (new nurse in a psychiatric hospital) and wasn't there when my patient received the injection, so was just curious... :-D
The first two intramuscular doses HAVE to be deltoid. Deltoid will absorb quicker (i.e. take less days to take effect). The manufacturer advises that after the first two, then gluteal can be used if the patient prefers. For any injection bigger than 2mls, gluteal really is the preferred choice because large doses are uncomfortable in the deltoid. But gluteal muscle has a poorer blood supply compared to the deltoid muscle. So gluteal will take longer to absorb into the bloodstream (and theoretically last longer in your body). In my experience, gluteal can be a problem in overweight patients, and some people get embarrassed pulling their pants down for a gluteal injection.
Breno Panesi This is a long acting injection. It does not work instantly. Please consult your physician regarding possible side effects not addressed in the video. Thank you

This was a great tutorial! Well done! I work in psych I was a RN for 15 years before I became an Np! Have you ever thought about teaching !
Thank you, I have thought about teaching but I just currently stick to precepting.
Very good at demonstrating this one :)

I’ve been getting these invega injections refusing to look at the needle, and boy now that I seen this video I am amazed I even went through with the injection without knowing how freaking long the needle was !😬
coward, they will someday inject u.
I used to be fine looking at needles growing up I was brave and felt nothing
Now I feel everything can’t look and suck in my breath crunch my eyes and tense while it’s happening
It took me 8 years to get use to side effects of psych drugs, because of the 117 dose I don’t complain anymore. I’ve been on it for 5 years and 6 months ago they tried to switch me to abilify but that didn’t work for me due to other non mental side effects but now I’m back on 117 thank God. I also take depakote and for about a year in a half wellbutrin and I’m fine. But it’s different for everyone.
It certainly is!
Thank you! Home health nurse here, giving my first Invega today:-)
I thought you were going to show how to give in the arm but I have learned that you take the 2nd shot in 8 days wich the doctor did not tell me this I'm thankful for that
You can actually take the 2nd dose as early as 4-5 days now.
Is this the same for Aristada injection? I heard that one clumps up. So you have to give it quick.
For Aristada it’s recommended to tap the syringe 10 times and shake vigorously for 30 seconds to ensure uniform suspension. That should help with clumping.
Thanks so much
Hi, Miss Lynn:
I have been receiving invega sustenna for 6 months now. 6/7 times I did not get any injection site reaction on the deltoid besides pain, which I put ice on it because it gets sore.
The 6th time I got a hardened lump on my left deltoid that was red at first
It's getting smaller but very slowly. This was in the beginning of March, the seventh time I had no reaction.
When I got it the 6th time the pain was excruciating, it may have been the way my psychiatrist administered it because the nurse went on vacation. Now looking at this VERY informative video 👏, I see there are 2 gages. They may have used the bigger Gage because I am 176lbs sometimes 166lbs (my weight fluctuates
My question is, how long will it take for the hardened lump to go away?
Take care.
Thank you so much much for your reply and addressing my concerns

This question is difficult one to answer as it depends on so many factors. Some include, your bodies metabolization, the time frame and the mg of drug injected. I do know that this particular dose and brand in the video is designed to last 28 days according to the manufactures information page.
Look into benzisoxazol on the chemical structures of the and also look into NO on the periodic table

What is the criteria for 75 mg or higher body weight.
Pl guide

Do you know what the decision process behind gluteus or deltoid is? I prefer deltoid.
famillioner Honestly, I go by patient preference. I try to convince them that the soreness is less noticeable in the gluteus, but most choose deltoid.
After gluteal injection (2 days ago) there is some pain like sting when touching it and it feel like small hard ball. Is that’s normal?
Thanks for this video!!!
