Very interesting that so many of us relate to this. Even that 80's remake of Somebody that I used to know was a doomer anthem for me. The beer, the cigarettes, wanting to play nostalgic games. I've left the doomer lifestyle but. I've got a good job and girlfriend. But, for some reason, I miss it. I miss feeling depressed and that everything was pointless. I miss the fact that no matter what I did, nothing would change. The nihilism was strangely liberating. Now, I've got more responsibility for my own happiness, and I know I can have a good life if I want it, and the privilege of throwing my hands up and saying "whatever" has been taken away from me.

But if you'll remember the name Samuel Adams, you will see me in boxing one day on tv i swear to you.
Not gonna lie, this is fairly accurate I believe. I don't think I'm doomer, I used to have very few friends, no gf and I was completely fine with that. Until I decided to try something else, go out, meet new people, try new things. I enjoy it, I really do, sometimes before going out, I want to cancel everything, play some video games but I quickly realize that life is short and there are many things to enjoy. It's a tough past for most of us because of our background, because we were raised in certain ways or exposed to certain things but no matter how long it takes, we should keep trying. None of us will quit this lifestyle in a day, it only happens in movies, but eventually you improve, you get better and you change. Believe me, I wish that one day I will be able to start something great, a movement, to help people like us to find a way to enjoy life. Not through video games, cartoons and hedonistic lifestyle, but through work, friendship, brotherhood. We are the first generation to experience the feeling of loneliness despite the fact that we are the most connected. Always go for what you want. If you want a nice car like the doomer in the video has, work harder, save your money. If you want a girlfriend, go find her, get rejected hundred times but go find her. If you want to get rich, start finding ways to make money, if you want to become a lawyer or a doctor, go study. Nothing is impossible, remember that you belong to the human race, we went to the Moon. Take as much time as you need it but do it. Nobody will wake you up, nobody will push you. You have to learn how to do it, but if you find a friend like you, then easy. You're not alone in this journey.
Well said. This video would have been pretty relatable for me 5 years ago. Slowly quit or minimised bad habits, while learning new good habits. All the screen activities replicating real world achievements are an obvious thing to address for most of us I would assume. And we may not be super social, I know I just need the occasional catch up. It's uncomfortable at first, but this can be done by simply trying new group activities and seeing if anything clicks - if not try another place, rinse and repeat. Compare yourself only to yourself last year and you'll notice the changes over time guys!
How did you make friends? I've been trying but it's not working out that well. Only people that I really don't like that much call me to hang out. People that I think are chill already have way closer friends amd/or gfs so it's very hard to get close with them. I tried to call a few people out but they weren't intrested. One guy actually came to get a beer with me and I told him to call me anytime he's bored yet he never did. He did say he has a group of like 20 ppl so it makes sense. I will keep trying but so far I'm stuck in the doomer cycle. I even work a night shift job like him in another video. It honestly makes me wanna cry because I see so much of myself in this charachter.
@@DC-no3vi Just by hanging out regularly with people I knew a bit. Colleagues who became friends. Just be cool, hang out with these people and if they see you're cool, fun, they will always invite you. That's how I also invite people, I invite people who I have fun with

I feel this is the friend that we have that we have that is almost broke. Somehow lingering on in life but has a car and some videogames. And likes to stop at wee hours of the morning just to take on the ambience at random places and buy stuff.

Wow, this is a painfully accurate representation of my ideal sat night. I drive my subaru to the store at night when it's empty, grab a couple healthy snacks and one beer. Spend the rest of the night playing call of duty with the boys, then youtube when everyone falls asleep, shower, lay down, goof around on my phone and fall asleep as the sun is coming up... I love it
I used to work nights in a smaller town in a weird late/night shift until a couple of months ago (for a MegaCorp making good money), and this was my life. I would do these McD binges and I have exactly the same bed... Glad to be back to 9to5 and normal life.

That's almost exactly what my life has been for the last 4 years, minus the gaming because I barely have the energy or patience to sit through single player games and climbing a ranked ladder seems tedious. Ever since COVID hit, there has been no resemblance of 'normal human life' to my life. How is this guy a doomer? He's living better than most people in their early to mid 20s.
I know right. I live like this and love it. It's mainly the lonelyness that makes it kinda suck if it wasn't for that it would be perfect
people that call themselves doomer are never complaining about their materialistic needs. even when they are poor it is never the main focus. Its almost about being alone and living a meaningless life.

Now she wants me back she says she loves me n is in love but I dont want anything to do with her. Especially if you feel force trying to be in a relationship. Dont get me wrong she is really pretty all guys dying to be with her but the damage she had done made me walk away from her. I drink one day yes one day no I actually love being alone I can do whatever I want n go out whenever I want talk to females with no worries. Almost done with school to get into my career I wanna get to so life is going smooth I have a good job, own apartment, have a car. Life is great no stress at all👍🏾🕶️
Nights do get lonely but hey is better than worrying about what the other person is doing behind your back.
For my Doomer’s Saturday Night here is my checklist:
✅ 24 pack of Landshark Lager
✅Pollo Assado Chipotle burrito
✅Red Dead Redemption 2
Sounds great but I would just buy a 6 pack of some other lager and just drink 1 or 2. That Pollo Assado Chipotle burrito is good. I would change RDR2 for some other game but idk what rn.

7pm: Start Drinking
8pm: Play video games that you’re bored of but play anyway since everything else is boring or takes too much work to play
9:30pm: Start watching random short TH-cam videos from the recommended page
10:30pm check social media apps to see how other people are living their lives with their jobs, children, relationships & holidays abroad
11:23pm: You don’t know what else to do so sit looking at the wall and begin to overthink and wonder if drinking tonight was even worth it
12:18am: Lying in your bed in the dark listening to sad/ peaceful music either from Spotify or the “You’re in a (year) nightclub bathroom” videos which then give you nostalgic memories making you sad the good years are now behind you
11:26am: You wake up with empty beer cans over your room, a slight headache and regret from drinking the night before.

How did you get out of the doomer mentality? I've gotten out of it half way but its still half there. It's been really hard to figure out.
@@Samuel-sg2iv genuinely just achieved some goals in my life. Doing a job I don't despise and getting a girlfriend that I like. Without those two things, I'd be mentally destroyed.
Why you struggling with the rest of it?
@@jamesnincross I'm getting better i've more recently have been trying to have a stronger connection with my sisters. i've got 3 of them and i'm the only boy in my family. But i struggled a lot with being myself i was HUGE people pleaser but only with my family. And i'm turning 18 in some months so having a slight existential crisis. And just moved like 4 months ago and finally broke down and talked to my family on how lonely i was. I'm homeschooled so i don't have a single friend. But then i realized i should try and get closer with my family. But i've found a huge love in boxing. i've been boxing for 4 years now, and i'm gonna fight in the amateurs in a couple of years. And i'm really good, i'm gonna go as far as i want as long as i keep working hard. But i think that's it. just some lonely issues and fear of being myself that i still struggle with but im getter better. Sorry for how rambly this is. But thanks for responding so fast, means a lot.
@@Samuel-sg2iv that's alright brother always happy to listen. At 18 I was a bit of a mess too, but you do learn more about yourself in the years to come. I'm 26 now and still learning. If you're lonely, try make friends any way you can. But also give yourself some time and don't think everything needs to be sorted now. Keep up with your boxing, that's a sport I wish I did more. And if you enjoy the doomer aesthetic, then enjoy it. I know it helped me a lot.
@@jamesnincross Those are some Very comforting and wise words, Thanks a lot, i needed to hear that. But i promise you i will be a top pro boxer. And i know it just sounds like a 17 year old speaking from ignorance but i swear i will either be world champ or a very good condenter. I've put in so much work and SO much more thought. And i'm 17 and already better than 60 percent of all boxers and there is still so much room to improve.

Some people need to understand, this isnt bad for a doomer, this is peak performance. He wouldn’t trade this for the world.
I think ur right and wrong, he wouldn’t trade it for the world because he hasn’t experienced it. Fear of the unknown is what hampers the doomer from finding a better life, comfort he finds in media is what keeps him satisfied and not looking for more
