I watched 7 hours, including the bancruptcy of your first city. Some constructive criticism: 1. Use coal power plants. Hydrogen, nuclear, solar and waste to energy cost about 20 cents per megawatt. Coal costs only 4 cents per megawatt. 2. Don't ignore important pop-ups (a power plant is getting old and about the explode, a fire has started, teachers are striking, etc.). 3. Build a landfill only as big as you need, and downsize it when you can. They are expensive. If you have any waste to energy plants, set funding to 0. They will burn the trash without creating expensive electricity. 4. Don't build a subway system until you can afford it - much later in the game, if at all. It's really expensive. 5. Don't build police stations and fire stations until you have to, and then get by with just a few. Seems like you had over 50 fire trucks available at the end of your first try. 10 would do. 6. Give your people education. Start with elementary, then add all the rest as you can. Smarter people get better jobs, pay more taxes and don't commit as many crimes. 7. Give your people health care. It takes a while, but see if you can have most residential areas in the green on the health data view. Healthier people are better workers and save you money in the long run. 8. Check and adjust the funding of individual buildings. Power plants, hospitals, schools, police stations, fire stations, etc. 9. Pay attention to the monthly costs when you build something. For example, in your second try (starting around 4:50) you build 2 avenues right away from the top to the bottom , and another avenue from side to side. That's a lot of upkeep. 10. Don't use water treatment plants. Just put water pumps in non-poluted places. 11. In your second try, you burn thru $500,000 in 20 minutes, and have to take desparate measures (missile site, army base) to keep from going broke (again). Play on medium level or hard. You'll be forced to do a better job. 12. Click on the RCI demand levels once in a while so you'll know what is needed. 13. You do such a good job counting 13 squares between water pipes. If you'd apply that same level of care with the other aspects of the game, you'll have great success.
The best advice I've ever found about traffic was to completely ignore it until the very end. As your city gets denser & denser then built when you reach maxim density zones, as it won't ever be fully utilized until then. Also, if you read the instruction booklet on SimCity 4. It tells you about how the masses of the low wealth population taxes can out weight the high value rich smaller population. Meaning if you tax the low wealth 0.1% you will still make more many than when you tax the richest population 1% or more.
Finally got through all 10 hours. Hour 4 is by far the most entertaining. Both cities OP makes result in "game over". Game over happens when you reach -100,000 Simoleans in the treasury. New Iasi - Hilarious mismanagement, kept afloat by aggressive expansion. Education and Health advisor is constantly ignored. Power plants and water pumps deteriorate to non-functionality causing huge budget problems OP tries to build their way out of. Nuclear plant melts down at 3:46:00 spewing radiation everywhere. Game over at around the 5 hour mark due to old power plants and water pumps eating up money. Last Vegas - OP learned to replace power plants, but still doesn't know that water pumps degrade too. Education and Health advisor is still ignored. City moves along until expenses become hard to ignore, at which point OP learns to replace the water pumps. City goes to "game over" after OP sets all taxes to 0.0%, crashing the treasury. Proceeds to say "I don't understand why game over." The absolutely hilarious thing about OP constantly ignoring the strikes on education and health is that it kind of works out. They build schools and hospitals, but they don't know that health and education need to be micromanaged in this game, as compared to other city sims. They build colleges, and this gives adults an education because these buildings are generally high enough capacity to handle the high density zoning. A mechanic in this game is that parents pass on part of their education to their children when they die. Given that health is functionally non existant (Life expectancy is 50 years lol) There is still a cumulative gain in education through the high death rate in these cities. It's just too bad that the education is never used for anything, because High tech and Manufacturing are trying to move in, but the city is way too polluted by all the dirty industry. This strategy might have all worked out if OP hadn't built so many useless water treatment plants and overbuilt the subway system.
Ah, SimCity 4 and the ongoing battle with traffic problems, I know it so well. Thanks for posting this video, I hope you upload more for this and the rest of the SimCity series!
tera nil is a puzzle game thematic to building Pharaoh: A New Era was also more puzzle remade just now too Dyson Sphere Program seemed intersting GL HF!
Dang, I am thinking of returning to Simcity 4 after 7 years or so, but I don't really know how to play properly, I've forgotten pretty much all what to do, I remember I always used to build highways first, But what do I know, I may've been doing it wrong all the time.
Great work, crank your dirty and manufacturing taxes to 20% between expanding them, they don't leave and it speeds up waiting for revenue. Also I think you would love this even more by learning some of the hotkeys to reduce the tedious micro. They pay off within the hour. Keep building.
You have a cool voice but I love that you do these videos without commentary. These are good to fall asleep to but sometimes you end up staying up all night watching :0
One of the things that bothered me from this gameplay is that you left squares that didn't work because they had no access to a road. Maybe I'm just too picky about it 😅 the other things have to do with the fact that you spend way too much and way too fast, and that you build schools and stuff without even checking up on them. Oh, and also, CHECK YOUR TAXES!!!
How’d you get the city tile that big? My region only has small tiles I can only get ~100,000 sims per city that’s all I can fit Also won’t need cemeteries if you build the corpse to energy incinerator
don't be afraid to customize your regions to follow whatever 'custom' rules you decide to implement. As always, save often. I was thinking of trying to make freight trucks have to import the goods somewhere. No, but that's cool, if you did that. Turn up freight traffic scaling factor, have little industries dump out huge trucks into your city. With all the mods now, you can do stuff like that. Agriculture too bland with vanilla farms, spam it up right? Why stop there? Don't the dirty/manufacturing industries need stone and coal? Doesn't the coal power plant need some coal? Sure, reflect that if you want The vanilla freight train station, doesn't let trucks disembark off of it. Well NAM's freight station now lets you switch to truck, to train, and back to truck again if you want now.
City at 30k people and you build a subway. I wait til around the 1.5million mark for that. You were wasting money alot but I get it sometimes I just like to build and see what happens
@@mc3092 you have to connect tiles. It takes time but gradually the numbers will go up. Also add parks to your cities high density zones will keep growing with parks great health care and police presence

@@SergiuHellDragoonHQ also there is some essential mods you should install where they fix the traffic issues and jobs not being filled.

@@kevinerbs2778which is kind of funny because in real life, the weathly pay around half of all taxes, at least in developed countries.

Community of players fixed the game so after 21yrs it's finally payable. Look for network addon mod

i always wanted this game to have batman and the mafia and villians doing their own things while im building this city
Best Sim City ❤❤❤
It is also the create a world tool for the Sims 2 but the Sims 2 can only take small cities.
My OCD kicked so bad watching these residential slots with street access middle of the city….am at hour 2 waiting for it to be fixed 😂😂
It was the broken road connection near the water treatment plants in the first city for me
So after building the city, can you actually play the sims inside city?
You can't actually play the sim but I think you can create one and just watch them live their daily life. You can also drive around your cities.
Man... I hope i can download it BUT ITS TO EXPENSIVE :(
