You can further remove more weight if you're willing to cut away some of the plastic on the bottom , some of the plastic under the top lid, and remove the plastic connectors from the usb cable and solder it directly onto the pcb board . Just a thought .
I wanna clean the scroll wheel of my model O. I'm just afraid to remove those white skates things at the bottom. How do I return them? Do I need glue or do they snap in place?
How can I add weight to my model o?
It's sooo light. I play games like minecraft PvP where i can use a clicking method called drag clicking. While drag clicking, i drag my finger on mouse to get high cps (clicks per seconds). But while dragging, the mouse goes slightly up as well. I hate this thing because it makes my aim different each time i drag click. To fiz this i need to add weight to my glorious model o. Pls help me

@@Beardedbob Definitely the smaller battery mod and the removal of one of the side button PCBs and magnet assembly. I just ripped mine open and the only other things besides that and the removal of the Powerplay hardware and puck was the LED cone for the logo in the shell. I'm considering drilling into non-essential parts of the internal frame and the foot and cutting out the usb dongle enclosure, however I doubt that will give more than 2-3g improvement. Any ideas on how to go further? Unlike the Model O, it seems like if you want to get past the 74g mark (or 72g with smaller battery) you need to start making irreversible mods by drilling holes and cutting parts off.
Yeah the drilling is a one way street and atm I'm trying to plan out which streets I can drill out lol.

meanwhile there's me using my steelseries rival 650 with all the weights in for a total of 125g and don't feel like its that heavy tbh...would like to know what it feels for me when trying out one of those light mice.
The 650 is well rated. I had the 700 and you get used to the weight whether its heavier or lighter. That step down to half the weight will take some adjusting though on FPS.

I've not measured the stock yet but they feel fast and nice. I would stay stock for now. I do plan to test then very soon.
U could also strip the jst plugs of the cord cables and just hard solder the wires direct to the board.
I mean you could be it’s a mod that you can’t reverse. You will get an extra 0.5g saving.
Hey Bob, im trying a shell swap mod right now and the top shells (trigger assembly and palm rest) just wont loosen for the life of me. I don‘t want them to break, so i really need your help on how to get them off the main body. In your video, it looks very easy.

Thanks.... yeah it should be relatively simple are there no videos on it on YT? You normally take off the Skatez, take out the base screws and then you can access the cord and the connector to the PCB.

I do think it would be cool, but the g502 is a mostly casual mouse, and is very unviable for higher end competitive play in fps games. I personally feel that a weight reduction mod should focus on mice that are used competitively because competitive players are the ones who need a lighter mouse for performance.

This too. I recently had been gifted the G703 Hero and wanted to try and drop the weight below 90g, aiming for close to 80g if possible. I hear battery swap is quick and easy but i worry about making the battery life too small

Very nice video, I have to say. I did the mods you showed here in the video, though by removing the left RGB strip along with the plastic, also the opaque plastic from the side of the mouse I came across a problem. Now I can click the back key on the left side of the mouse just by holding it. It is a real problem in heated situations when I grip the mouse body with a little more force (never had this issue before) and I misfire my rear side button by literally just holding the mouse body. Do you think you could come up with a solution?

@@Beardedbob Yes that is correct. However the next day I solved it by putting the black plastic on the left side back in place, because it has a stabilizer which prevents the flexing of the mouse body.

You should be able to remove some of the base, i've done a few mice without any issues.
Hey is there any way to remove the back plate without unscrewing and removing the shell entirely? I only want to remove that back plate since it's 6g but I'd rather not peel the feet off if I can.
It's clipped so you need to do or from inside.

You should make more videos on the g305. Maybe you should try to install a cable to the mouse to completely remove the excess battery weight.
Sure plan to as its a good mouse. I don't see the need for a cable though as the G203 is the same shape etc with a cable.
@@Beardedbob well the g305 is lighter than the g203 without the battery or battery cover, it comes in at 67 grams. So installing the cable would make it as light as possible, plus if you weight relieve the plastic on the mouse (by drilling holes in it) it can probably drop the weight down to under 70 grams.
R ok so you want the lighter shell of the G305 then put the internals of the G203 into that assuming they are lighter PCB etc. So a hybrid to get the lightest possible mouse.
The idea is growing on me. A few people are making 3d printed shells which I'm looking into so leave it with me and I'll see what I can come up with.

mmmm $20 is cheap, I would look at getting a used one or a broken one if you don't need the internal parts. These should be cheap to pick up.

You could add some thing inside the shell wall to brace it, but I’m yet to take mine apart to sea what is possible.

i desoldered my side switches and now my mouse won't click in certain spots of the screen. its the weirdest glitch ever... i'll try to resolder my side switches back on when i have time
So you desoldered the side buttons and and now main LMB & RMB don’t always work?
@@Beardedbob its hard to describe, the M1 and M2 work 100% of the time but just not on certain areas of my screen. i think i slightly damaged my PCB with my soldering iron by accident, perhaps which is causing something to make the driver not work right with the mouse and cause the glitch i'm experiencing. either that or the microswitches being attached to the PCB might be necessary in order for the driver to work properly? who knows...

Beardedbob Yeah, I saw a picture of someone who did something similar to their Model O except they had duct tape over the back panel to protect the inside of the mouse. I was wondering what you think would be the best looking method to protect the innards that doesn’t look terrible haha
you could shrink wrap the pcb or use something like a car wrap.

replaced with much smaller battery, and drill hole on the shell to reduce weight more.

My model started squeaking in the right click and I’m seeing if I can get a replacement, was pretty pissed since it took a month to ship
Most switches are easy to swap. There is some soldering involved but it should take lone. The Model O is also pretty easy to strip down.
Beardedbob I don’t necessarily have the time or patience lol to do it myself so I’m just getting a replacement
mine squeaks two. Hopefully their next batch fixes it, I’m not sure If I feel like getting a replacement tho

Yeah I'm not sure its worth the warranty void. I only notice it as i'm coming from the GPW at 80g and going to a 55g mouse after the weight reduction.

A hairdryer and something that can get under the skatez without damaging them. I've moved on to using these www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07R7355P7/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 What you might also need is some M3 tape if they won't stick back down. This is a risk as they don't always and usually ivé had to replace them.

I have one question though - my scroll wheel has a more pronouced audible, sort of mushy clunks when I turn it towards the front and very soft completely noiseless clicks when I turn the wheel towards the back side - Do your glorious mice feel the same way and what brand an size is the scroll wheel switch? I will probably try to replace that switch at some point in the future as this is the only thing bugging me about this excellent mouse. Thank you in advance!
Hi,
Mine sounds/feels the same in both directions. You can get a replacement switch and you will need to solder it off/on. You can also from places like Aliexpress order a new wheel or off eBay.
If its a real problem though chat with the Glorious support as they have a good reputation from RMA's
Maybe drill some holes in the sides if they are durable enough.
Its possible along the sides but I feel they might be already a little weak so it could be a hole to far lol.

@@Beardedbob no aerogel is a really really light material (lighter than air) no mouse has been made yet with aerogel (I dont think so anyway)

It's not something I'm looking to do atm but you might win it if you haven't entered. Going forward when I will have some more time I might do this for people but I'm not promising anything.
I cant see these mice getting much lighter than they are now the amount of plastic that mouse has cant be reduced much more, I think in the coming years if mice manufacturers want to stand out they will have to start using new materials like carbon fiber. In the future we will even see graphene and other such next gen materials.
A company here has started a carbon fibre one zaunkoenig.co I've got one to review which I'm looking forward to.
Heavy mice are critical for precision, i totally hate lightweights, my corsair weighs 138grams, but then again its a quality bit of kit and made of metal

The weight helps with aim but people want mice that are light as paper i just don't get it
Agreed it comes down to what works best for you. I like between 85g and 65g below that I overshoot but maybe this is just where I need more time at that weight and above that, I now find it a bit heavy.
