NASCAR was on top of the world at that time, so much merchandise was being pumped out, you couldn’t go a day without encountering something NASCAR related.
The early 2000s was the best era of NASCAR games. You had Monster Game's Heat and Dirt to Daytona, EA's NASCAR Thunder series and 2005 Chase for the Cup, and Papyrus's NASCAR Racing series. Nr2003 is still relevant to this day thanks to the modding community. You can basically turn it into a free version of iRacing. Game looks great too with the MENCup19 mod and graphics update. People have event modded in VR. It's insane. But Nr2003, Dirt to Daytona, and Thunder 2004 all released within a one year span. Couldn't have asked for a better year for any genre in general. Three games that still stand the test of time.
I owned the papyrus nascar games and they were pretty fun to play. Doing a full length Busch race on nascar racing 3 at south Boston was always cool, the furthest I went in a race to make my only stop was lap 195 of 300

I am thankful for those guys for the creativity and passion they have.They are the hero’s when it comes to Nr2003 I mean between the series updates , tracks both old and new and of course the cars some of these painters should design cars for NASCAR teams there absolutely amazing and thats just the tip of the iceberg of the mod community.

1996, there was NASCAR Racing for the Playstation. Had some of the most realistic wrecks at the time and if I remember correctly, even had a tow truck on the track to pick up the wrecked cars. Something I still dont see simulated to this day.

Best NASCAR games are the series from Papyrus/Sierra, especially NASCAR Racing 2003 and NASCAR Racing 1 and 2 (nostalgic). (NASCAR Racing 1 - 2003) After that the early games from EA SPORTS NASCAR 98-2000 (especially NASCAR 99 for PlayStation 1) are also very good. Then the PlayStation 2 EA SPORTS NASCAR games 'NASCAR 06-09' are the last good NASCAR games. But the GOAT is and was NR2003.
tbh i never noticed that the newer heat series used the old heat series contact and spin soundd effects btw nascar thunder 2004 doesnt look that bad hes just playing the pc version which is horribly innacurate to the console version (console version is similar to thunder 2003)
You mean graphically right? Sorry but the EA Sports games are objectively better. Better physics, career mode, all car skins we there to unlock without paying for them, Great soundtracks, and overall better experience.
If you haven't played them I suggest Thunder 2004 or 2005 Chase for the cup. I still play them to this day on my PS2. These new Nascar games are just boring compared to the old ones.
