How can you ignore the fact that Severus Snape was hiding behind the trees when Ron dived in to save Harry from drowning? Ron even mentioned he thought he saw someone move there but was more concerned in saving Harry. Would Snape just have let Harry drown after all he and Dumbledore had planed? I do not think so..
Did he stay the whole time? I wasn't sure. Ron showing up could prompt him to leave. And if he didn't reveal himself (bad idea given Harry's scar) he could have alerted Hermione to find Harry.
Lisa Kazmier Hermione wouldn't have trusted him, remembers everyone thought he was evil at that time. She would've thought of it as a trap. Also, how could he have found Hermione? The enchantments kept anyone who wasn't welcome...out. Ron said he couldn't find them after he left.
Sirius Black He would have had to alert her without revealing who he was, perhaps a noise or disguise. Even if Hermione knew and did act, she could inform Harry later. He would have to act in stealth either way.

It's more likely he'd save him and then stun him before he could see It's Snape, leaving him and the sword near the camp. That way, Voldemort wouldn't know it was Snape if he peered into Harry's mind with the connection they share.
Are we forgetting Harry couldn't die as long as Voldemort was alive? He would wake up at the bottom of the lake, remove the locket and return to the top (though it would have been very difficult)

I doubt Draco was interested in a friend of equal stature but more so another lackey like Crabbe and Goyle with the kicker being that Harry is pretty famous so it will make Malfoy look better so to speak...anyways, that kind of friendship would probably not sit well with Harry and the fact that he is famous and would get more attention than Malfoy would probably start to form the cracks that would end the friendship. Malfoy would probably start to bully him 3 on 1 to kind of get back it him for stealing the attention that he thinks he deserves. Snape obviously would probably do nothing considering he will see this as karma for all the times James and his Marauders outnumbered him It would be a pretty shitty situation now for Harry. He would have no real friends and the life he thought he could have outside of Privet Drive ends up turning into something worse. His hopes completely shared and his ability to love going along with it, thus losing his greatest power over Voldemort. Voldemort would ultimately be able to finish off Harry Potter. so yeah, it's why Ron is incredibly important in the grand scheme of things. Other than his parents, the greatest source of love in Harry's life comes from his friendship Ron. Everything good in his life kind of stems from it. He was basically adopted by the Weasley's and began to experience what it is liked to be in a loving family home, and all the while he is just building up that ultimate power of love.

Take into consideration, Snape would have had to be there to cast the Patronus, and I doubt that he would just leave without ensuring Harry got the sword. I think it's likely Snape would have broken the ice or done something to help Harry without revealing himself.

Tasha9313 I agree with the first part. SNAPE would have saved Harry. But Harry wouldn't have lived otherwise. U see the horcrux part would have died only if VOLDEMORT put the killing curse. Otherwise before others and for other causes he was just any normal Wizard. VOLDEMORT couldn't kill him because his blood in VOLDEMORT's body was magically keeping Lily's protection alive and thereby preventing VOLDEMORT's wand being fatal to Harry. Also it was that VOLDEMORT's wand was recognizing it's master inside Harry which VOLDEMORT never knew of. :)

Hermione would´ve tried to drop Voldemort anyway, somehow, maybe going into dark side to have a chance. So responsible type person as Hermione, would´ve been grief-stricken for Harry, and heartbroken because of Ron, I can easily see her going singlemindedly after Voldemort, take it 10 years or 100 years, maybe organizing so sort of resistance underground, and with time passing, going more dark and desperate, making her eventually quite brutal. Maybe she would´ve gathered possible allies, including Krum, and determined to get revenge, using Krum as a blunt instrument of destruction, eventually falling in love with him, or pretending to, in order to motivate him. Or maybe, engulfed by anger, just played Krum or some other capable but not very bright wizard, marrying for vengeance, so to say. If surviving long enough, maybe even challenging Voldemort eventually...
Here’s what I think would have happened: 1) Snape would have saved Harry, following Dumbledore’s final orders. He would have alerted Hermione so that she could find and look after him, covering up the fact that Snape was always on their side. 2) While Harry was recovering, Hermione would realize her true feelings for Harry- never able to forgive Ron for leaving them when they needed him most. 3) they would find the rest of the horcruxes- but once they arrived at Hogwarts Ginny would grow angry that Ron wasn’t there, not to mention that Harry had moved on with Hermione. 4) I think that after the battle Ron might be outcasted from his family, but I also don’t think the relationship between Harry and the Weasley family would ever be the same. I don’t think Mrs. Weasley would ever forgive Harry for not going after Ron and ensuring his safety. Not to mention the added slight to both her youngest children now that Harry and Hermione are a couple. 5) Harry and Hermione get married, but neither ever speak to Ron again.
I think that if Ron didn't come back to save Harry then Snape would've somehow *anonymously* saved Harry. I'm not sure how, but maybe he would cast a spell to instantly melt all the ice and use "ascendo" on Harry to make him come and jump out of the water and onto the dry land.
Snape would have intimated Hermione to Harry’s location without revealing himself. Remember Harry thinking ‘Hermione was here again saving him, just like she had saved him in Godric’s Hollow..’ These were his exact words, his last thoughts so to speak. And then when she did, they would have kissed in the Forest of Dean sorrounded by all the vastness and snow. And Harry Potter and Hermione Granger would finally be together.

Considering that JKR, during a bout of depression, considered offing Ron mid-way through the series, I think she would have written another way for Harry to survive the dive into the lake to retrieve the sword of Gryffindor. Dumbledore obviously foresaw that Ron would falter, that is why he bequeathed the Deluminator to Ron; if he thought Ron would leave and not go back, he would not have done that.
I'm not so sure Hermione would choose to never speak to Ron again, but Ron's own guilt would destroy their relationship. Even if Hermione forgave Ron (something I think would have been likely based on her character) Ron would be reminded that he let Harry down every time he saw her. Knowing that his actions led to Harry's death would cause a guilt so intense it would have eventually destroyed him. Had Harry died, I think Hermione would have fled to Australia to rejoin her parents and go into hiding with them. Ron would not have bothered going into hiding, and if Voldermort didn't kill him he would have killed himself. Even his own family would have reminded him of his guilt, because they would have all died for Harry without hesitation. Ron already had major self esteem issues. The guilt over having failed his best mate would have surely destroyed him.
Even if Snape would've saved Harry somehow. Harry still would've mentioned Voldemort and both him and Hermione would've been captured by death eaters. Harry wouldn't have known where to go and wouldn't have been able to save Hermione alone.
I think Ron's character was always sold short. Impact he has had on Harry over the last seven years of their schooling is more than just significant. Offering Harry a true family literally sharing his parents with him, saving both his and her my knees arses on the chessboard, as a start. He has always been literally the glue that held them three together. I think it's quite sad really

We know what 'happened' and that Ron saved Harry, but I don't think that anyone would hold Ron responsible when he wouldn't have been there and Harry would've died!! I don't think it would be that easy to blame it all on Ron, Harry didn't wake Hermione for example, she would've been able to save Harry as well if he'd let her.
Yeah. What if Ron was angry with them for a long time? Would he separate from them forever? What if their friendship was completely over? True. If Ron hadn't have returned, Harry would have drowned in that lake, to his death, losing his life there and then. And their mission wouldn't have been accomplished the way it was supposed to.
In the books Hermione kept in touch with Victor Krum which Ron wasn't too happy about. Maybe if Ron didn't go back or came back too late to rescue Harry then she may never have forgave Ron and set out to find Victor Krum. She would have nothing left to keep her where she was.
I have started a fic where Dudley joins Harry and Hermione the night Ron leaves after a fight with Vernon. With the help a signet ring from Dumbledore, Dudley finds Harry and Hermione. He breaks the ice to get Harry out of the pond. Dudley destroys Slytherin's locket. Ron rejoins them at Shell Cottage. All four fight in the Battle of Hogwarts, Dudley with a firearm. There Dudley finds his angry Dad shooting Death Eaters with a firearm. Dudley and Vernon save Remus and Tonks.... I'll put it on ff.net one of these days. My sister quite liked the story.
This just goes to show how many minor things could send the entire rest of the events of a such a good story and plot for anything, books, movies, shows, games, anything, in the complete and opposite direction even if the thing in question doesn't seem like such an important piece to things happening as they do. Seeing that moment when Ron leaves, it doesn't seem like such a big deal, at least in comparison to other things that have happened and were happening. But when you look into it deeper, even something as minor as that, could so easily drastically change the entire outcome of the plot and story in ways one couldn't even begin to comprehend and fathom, at least while they are going on. Such is the masterpiece of any good story or plot in a book, show, movie, game, whatever it is in question at the time. It always has massive importance in even the slightest and most minor of events. Even the smallest of events could alter the entire course of the very plot itself without the one reading/watching/playing ever being aware of it to begin with if they were to happen differently. This is just one of the many things that makes Harry Potter so damn good.

Upon learning Harry had died in the forest of Dean a fact the Death Eaters made glory to publicize Ron became a pariah within his family. Making the prior rift between his brother Percy and the rest of the family look like a small spat by comparison. Ginny especially never spoke to her brother again, only Bill and Molly attempted to remain cordial with the youngest Weasley boy but when Voldemort destroyed the remains of the Order by April of '98 including the rest of the Weasley's Ron launched himself at Voldemort in a suicidal attempt which Voldemort just flicked off.

A lot of people have already written these two things, but I definitely do feel that either Snape would have saved Harry, or the horcrux in Harry would have died, sending Harry to the "King's Cross" scene early, and not actually killing Harry himself. Do an updated video on this!

I would be interested to hear your opinion on what Voldy says to his death eaters when he first returns in the graveyard, when he gets to the gap in the circle and notes 6 are missing. He says something like 3 are dead, 1 is a coward, 1 is loyal and already following his commands at Hogwarts, and 1 he believes has betrayed him. I still remember reading this chapter for the first time way back then, and how I was Done with Ron after he left. I was like, I don't care if he comes back, that's Way too many times he's failed his friends. Thank God for Hermione, otherwise Harry would've died a few days later. And That's why Ron and Hermione shouldn't be together.
I would also like to point out that it was Ron who remembered the sound Harry used to open the Chamber of Secrets to fetch the basilisk tooth that he and Hermione used to destroy Helga's cup.
I think the weasleys wouldn't have helped Harry out as they would have seen it as Harry's fault. Hermione wouldn't have been in contact with Ron and would have tried to forget about Ron, fail but always keep him in memory as a bad person rather than someone she loved. Voldermort would have come back to power and killed Harry if he wasn't dead already. He would have killed everyone who helped Harry, but Hermione would be able to hide out somewhere but she wouldn't have helped Ron or his family and would have ended up marrying someone else.
The thing is you are forgetting that Voldemort's destruction was prophecized. Voldemort was MEANT to be destroyed when he was. So if Ron had not chosen to come back, then something else would have happened to save Harry at the key moment. Hermione might have woken up in time to go check on him and save him. To quote Obi-Wan Kenobi, "you cannot escape your destiny".
Personally seeing how Severus Snape's patrones showed Harry were the Hocrux was.. I think Severus would have saved him. It might if that was discovered, Severus would have died. And many more students would have died to.
And Umbridge. And maybe the Dursley's? Actually nevermind the Dursley's wouldn't have disliked. I remember in the book, Harry made peace with his Aunt, Uncle and Cousin the last time he saw them. I love the way that, though all 3 of them were downright bullies to Harry, they still said a proper goodbye when they knew they probably wouldn't see him ever again.
I think Harry wouldn't have died in the lake because i personally believe Professor Snape was around until he was certain Harry wasn't alone. It's even mentioned that Ron thought he saw someone but the fact Harry was in danger made Ron ignore that and safe Harry and when Harry looks through Snape's memories Snape is watching him follow his Patronus so he was for sure around and i really believe he would have lingered until he was sure his succeeded in what Dumbledore told him to do. Completing his goal/Task was very important to Snape who is a very calculated person who wants to be in control of their own plans and considering he saw Harry as nothing but an idiotic dunderhead he wouldn't have put the sword in the Lake just to sit back and hope for the best when it came to Harry retrieving it (Which for people who didn't know you need to retrieve the sword under brave circumstances) Snape doesn't seem like the kind of person who would risk it at that point and i think he was lingering around until he saw Dunderhead #2 aka Ron show up and was like ok they can figure it out themselves now. So if Ron hadn't shown up Snape would have likely helped Harry somehow in a way that would allow him to remain hidden but still make sure Harry survived.
Ron's only contributions were in the first two films/books and the last one was giving Harry a loving family; I think after the second film he could have just clocked out and Hermione and Harry would have been fine.

What if harry had used the sword to escape the lake even though Ron never came back? The hilt of the sword would be enough to break through the inch or so of ice that was on the lake, Harry’s hand couldn’t do it because hands aren’t hard, but the sword on the other hand, plus we know snape was there, and it was his mission to help Harry, so wouldn’t he have saved Harry if he hadn’t seen room coming through the forest
I agree it highly likely Harry would have drowned unless there was more protecting him. Yet I actually almost drowned once. I made a LOT of noise and that is what got me discovered and pulled out, making it possible he would have been heard by Hermione before he died. Nonetheless, do you think it possible Hermione would have looked to Neville for help? Would Harry as a ghost tried to help? I wonder if Hermione would have pulled the sword herself, since if she did not find Harry in time she would have figured out why he died and perhaps find herself able to get it and destroy at least the necklace herself. There are a lot of ways the story could have gone with this one detail removed. Your scenario seems credible and plausible.

hi. this wouldnt be a theory but could you do suggestions for what would happen if james or lily survived and raised harry? james could have just been knocked out or stunned and lily could have apparaited out when james told her to run. i think, while being protective, james might try and be 'father of the boy who lived' sense he is used to the spotlight, he would defeand sirius but might throw remus under the bus. lily on the other hand might become over-protective of harry, possably retreating into the muggle world out of fear. sirius would still go to askaban. please consider i think its intresting
I have the theory that Severus was watching everything so he may save Harry. So he could find a way to alert Hermione without letting her know it was him. Ron mentioned that he saw someone. I think the story might have been written differently. Mabey Harry would've taken the locket off first. And then got the sword without drowning. I'm more curious about what could've happened after that. For example Would Harry still save the world? And what might happen relationship wise between Harry and Hermione?

I have a better idea: Snape or Hermione saves Harry. Harry doesn't die. Ron's absence still changes a lot of things like the Battle of Hogwarts, the Gringotts break-in, etc.
Harry couldn't be killed as long as the Horcrux inside him was intact. Harry would simply have passed out and then awakened underwater and come to the surface. No way can a Horcrux be drowned so Harry would have survived. Remember that Voldemort's rebounding death curse when Harry was a baby destroyed his body, but his soul was still tied to earth by the other Horcruxes so he remained even without a body. The Horcrux in Harry wouldn't even be damaged by so simple a death as by drowning or strangulation. So the Horcrux inside Harry would be completely intact as would the locket. By using Harry's blood to resurrect himself, Voldemort tied his fate ever more firmly to Harry's. So long as Voldemort himself was alive, Harry would survive. That's why Dumbledore wanted to arrange for Voldemort himself to kill Harry. Only that way could the connection (Horcrux) between them that tied both to the mortal earth be destroyed. And only then could Voldemort himself be killed.
No. Snape wouldn't let Harry drown, he'd wait til he was unconscious and pull him out, he would have probably expected this to happen had Ron not saved him first.
If Ron didn't came back to Harry and Hermione, he would most likely be their ex-friend, like losing contact, never seeing or calling each other, and never reconcile
I love that you cover this,there's no denying that Ron as much as we all love him has a dark inside and a bit of a temper problem and he can be quiet manipulative ,of course he feels bad about it right away and goes back to be awesome Ron but he does have an odd "dark " impulsive side.Ruper Grint is brilliant the first time I watched the goblet of fire that confirmed it .From then on I think he is probably one of the best actors in the whole cast ,and by the way who can dislike this video ? 40 peasants !!

Could you please do a video on how the story would change if Professor Snape actually was working for Voldemort and decided to abandon Dumbledore after Lilly's death? Yeah that's one detail I never quite got was if Snape was so in love with Lilly why would he decide to stay allied to Dumbledore when he didn't stop her death from occurring and even put his own life in mortal peril to assure his plans would come to fruition. I don't know maybe I'm not thinking abstractly enough about the situation but I just think it would have made more sense for Snape to maybe even try to bring Harry to the dark side to save him rather than keep him on the straight and narrow.

How can you ignore the fact that Severus Snape was hiding behind the trees when Ron dived in to save Harry from drowning? Ron even mentioned he thought he saw someone move there but was more concerned in saving Harry. Would Snape just have let Harry drown after all he and Dumbledore had planed? I do not think so..
Did he stay the whole time? I wasn't sure. Ron showing up could prompt him to leave. And if he didn't reveal himself (bad idea given Harry's scar) he could have alerted Hermione to find Harry.
Lisa Kazmier Hermione wouldn't have trusted him, remembers everyone thought he was evil at that time. She would've thought of it as a trap. Also, how could he have found Hermione? The enchantments kept anyone who wasn't welcome...out. Ron said he couldn't find them after he left.
Sirius Black He would have had to alert her without revealing who he was, perhaps a noise or disguise. Even if Hermione knew and did act, she could inform Harry later. He would have to act in stealth either way.

It's more likely he'd save him and then stun him before he could see It's Snape, leaving him and the sword near the camp. That way, Voldemort wouldn't know it was Snape if he peered into Harry's mind with the connection they share.

I doubt Draco was interested in a friend of equal stature but more so another lackey like Crabbe and Goyle with the kicker being that Harry is pretty famous so it will make Malfoy look better so to speak...anyways, that kind of friendship would probably not sit well with Harry and the fact that he is famous and would get more attention than Malfoy would probably start to form the cracks that would end the friendship. It would be a pretty shitty situation now for Harry. He would have no real friends and the life he thought he could have outside of Privet Drive ends up turning into something worse. His hopes completely shared and his ability to love going along with it, thus losing his greatest power over Voldemort. Voldemort would ultimately be able to finish off Harry Potter.
so yeah, it's why Ron is incredibly important in the grand scheme of things. Other than his parents, the greatest source of love in Harry's life comes from his friendship Ron. Everything good in his life kind of stems from it. He was basically adopted by the Weasley's and began to experience what it is liked to be in a loving family home, and all the while he is just building up that ultimate power of love.

But Harry wouldn't have lived otherwise. U see the horcrux part would have died only if VOLDEMORT put the killing curse. Otherwise before others and for other causes he was just any normal Wizard. VOLDEMORT couldn't kill him because his blood in VOLDEMORT's body was magically keeping Lily's protection alive and thereby preventing VOLDEMORT's wand being fatal to Harry.
Also it was that VOLDEMORT's wand was recognizing it's master inside Harry which VOLDEMORT never knew of. :)

Hermione would´ve tried to drop Voldemort anyway, somehow, maybe going into dark side to have a chance. So responsible type person as Hermione, would´ve been grief-stricken for Harry, and heartbroken because of Ron, I can easily see her going singlemindedly after Voldemort, take it 10 years or 100 years, maybe organizing so sort of resistance underground, and with time passing, going more dark and desperate, making her eventually quite brutal. Maybe she would´ve gathered possible allies, including Krum, and determined to get revenge, using Krum as a blunt instrument of destruction, eventually falling in love with him, or pretending to, in order to motivate him. Or maybe, engulfed by anger, just played Krum or some other capable but not very bright wizard, marrying for vengeance, so to say. If surviving long enough, maybe even challenging Voldemort eventually...
Here’s what I think would have happened:
1) Snape would have saved Harry, following Dumbledore’s final orders. He would have alerted Hermione so that she could find and look after him, covering up the fact that Snape was always on their side.
2) While Harry was recovering, Hermione would realize her true feelings for Harry- never able to forgive Ron for leaving them when they needed him most.
3) they would find the rest of the horcruxes- but once they arrived at Hogwarts Ginny would grow angry that Ron wasn’t there, not to mention that Harry had moved on with Hermione.
4) I think that after the battle Ron might be outcasted from his family, but I also don’t think the relationship between Harry and the Weasley family would ever be the same. I don’t think Mrs. Weasley would ever forgive Harry for not going after Ron and ensuring his safety. Not to mention the added slight to both her youngest children now that Harry and Hermione are a couple.
5) Harry and Hermione get married, but neither ever speak to Ron again.

Remember Harry thinking ‘Hermione was here again saving him, just like she had saved him in Godric’s Hollow..’ These were his exact words, his last thoughts so to speak. And then when she did, they would have kissed in the Forest of Dean sorrounded by all the vastness and snow. And Harry Potter and Hermione Granger would finally be together.
Why would they suddenly kiss bruh when Hermione is crying over Ron and Harry is crying over Ginny. Just because Ron does'nt come back doesn't mean they would end up together. Hermione would have found another man and Harry would have ended up with Ginny
Considering that JKR, during a bout of depression, considered offing Ron mid-way through the series, I think she would have written another way for Harry to survive the dive into the lake to retrieve the sword of Gryffindor. Dumbledore obviously foresaw that Ron would falter, that is why he bequeathed the Deluminator to Ron; if he thought Ron would leave and not go back, he would not have done that.
I'm not so sure Hermione would choose to never speak to Ron again, but Ron's own guilt would destroy their relationship. Even if Hermione forgave Ron (something I think would have been likely based on her character) Ron would be reminded that he let Harry down every time he saw her.
Knowing that his actions led to Harry's death would cause a guilt so intense it would have eventually destroyed him.
Had Harry died, I think Hermione would have fled to Australia to rejoin her parents and go into hiding with them.
Ron would not have bothered going into hiding, and if Voldermort didn't kill him he would have killed himself. Even his own family would have reminded him of his guilt, because they would have all died for Harry without hesitation.
Ron already had major self esteem issues. The guilt over having failed his best mate would have surely destroyed him.

I think Ron's character was always sold short. Impact he has had on Harry over the last seven years of their schooling is more than just significant. Offering Harry a true family literally sharing his parents with him, saving both his and her my knees arses on the chessboard, as a start. Yeah. What if Ron was angry with them for a long time? Would he separate from them forever? What if their friendship was completely over? True. If Ron hadn't have returned, Harry would have drowned in that lake, to his death, losing his life there and then. And their mission wouldn't have been accomplished the way it was supposed to.
In the books Hermione kept in touch with Victor Krum which Ron wasn't too happy about. Maybe if Ron didn't go back or came back too late to rescue Harry then she may never have forgave Ron and set out to find Victor Krum. She would have nothing left to keep her where she was.
I have started a fic where Dudley joins Harry and Hermione the night Ron leaves after a fight with Vernon. With the help a signet ring from Dumbledore, Dudley finds Harry and Hermione. He breaks the ice to get Harry out of the pond. Dudley destroys Slytherin's locket. Ron rejoins them at Shell Cottage. All four fight in the Battle of Hogwarts, Dudley with a firearm. There Dudley finds his angry Dad shooting Death Eaters with a firearm. Dudley and Vernon save Remus and Tonks.... I'll put it on ff.net one of these days. My sister quite liked the story.
This just goes to show how many minor things could send the entire rest of the events of a such a good story and plot for anything, books, movies, shows, games, anything, in the complete and opposite direction even if the thing in question doesn't seem like such an important piece to things happening as they do. Seeing that moment when Ron leaves, it doesn't seem like such a big deal, at least in comparison to other things that have happened and were happening. But when you look into it deeper, even something as minor as that, could so easily drastically change the entire outcome of the plot and story in ways one couldn't even begin to comprehend and fathom, at least while they are going on. Such is the masterpiece of any good story or plot in a book, show, movie, game, whatever it is in question at the time. It always has massive importance in even the slightest and most minor of events. Even the smallest of events could alter the entire course of the very plot itself without the one reading/watching/playing ever being aware of it to begin with if they were to happen differently. This is just one of the many things that makes Harry Potter so damn good.

Upon learning Harry had died in the forest of Dean a fact the Death Eaters made glory to publicize Ron became a pariah within his family. Making the prior rift between his brother Percy and the rest of the family look like a small spat by comparison. Ginny especially never spoke to her brother again, only Bill and Molly attempted to remain cordial with the youngest Weasley boy but when Voldemort destroyed the remains of the Order by April of '98 including the rest of the Weasley's Ron launched himself at Voldemort in a suicidal attempt which Voldemort just flicked off.
Ahem! Ron did encounter snatchers, got one of their wands, did not lose his own wand and Apparated away to Shell cottage. By other words, HE OVERPOWERED THE SNATCHERS. Read the 7th book once and you'll remember that...
A lot of people have already written these two things, but I definitely do feel that either Snape would have saved Harry, or the horcrux in Harry would have died, sending Harry to the "King's Cross" scene early, and not actually killing Harry himself. Do an updated video on this!

I would be interested to hear your opinion on what Voldy says to his death eaters when he first returns in the graveyard, when he gets to the gap in the circle and notes 6 are missing. He says something like 3 are dead, 1 is a coward, 1 is loyal and already following his commands at Hogwarts, and 1 he believes has betrayed him.
I've seen a few threads online about it, with different opinions as to the identity of the missing death eaters, but I'd love to hear your take.

Hermione wouldn't have been in contact with Ron and would have tried to forget about Ron, fail but always keep him in memory as a bad person rather than someone she loved.
Voldermort would have come back to power and killed Harry if he wasn't dead already. He would have killed everyone who helped Harry, but Hermione would be able to hide out somewhere but she wouldn't have helped Ron or his family and would have ended up marrying someone else.

The thing is you are forgetting that Voldemort's destruction was prophecized. Voldemort was MEANT to be destroyed when he was. So if Ron had not chosen to come back, then something else would have happened to save Harry at the key moment. Hermione might have woken up in time to go check on him and save him.

Actually nevermind the Dursley's wouldn't have disliked. I remember in the book, Harry made peace with his Aunt, Uncle and Cousin the last time he saw them. I love the way that, though all 3 of them were downright bullies to Harry, they still said a proper goodbye when they knew they probably wouldn't see him ever again.

Completing his goal/Task was very important to Snape who is a very
calculated person who wants to be in control of their own plans and

wouldn't have put the sword in the Lake just to sit back and hope for
the best when it came to Harry retrieving it (Which for people who
didn't know you need to retrieve the sword under brave circumstances)

Ron's only contributions were in the first two films/books and the last one was giving Harry a loving family; I think after the second film he could have just clocked out and Hermione and Harry would have been fine.
To be honest without Ron Harry wouldn’t be much of a hero the only reason Harry has made it this far is because of Ron. If they never Harry would just mind his own business or end up getting killed.

If Ron didn’t return, I imagine that he would be caught by death eaters or something and either die or be captured and tortured into insanity like the Longbottoms maybe? Snape would save Harry from the lake, Mrs. Weasley would be much more aggressive with bellatrix killing her first try after losing 2 sons and almost a daughter.

What if harry had used the sword to escape the lake even though Ron never came back? The hilt of the sword would be enough to break through the inch or so of ice that was on the lake, Harry’s hand couldn’t do it because hands aren’t hard, but the sword on the other hand, plus we know snape was there, and it was his mission to help Harry, so wouldn’t he have saved Harry if he hadn’t seen room coming through the forest
I agree it highly likely Harry would have drowned unless there was more protecting him. Yet I actually almost drowned once. I made a LOT of noise and that is what got me discovered and pulled out, making it possible he would have been heard by Hermione before he died. Nonetheless, do you think it possible Hermione would have looked to Neville for help? Would Harry as a ghost tried to help? I wonder if Hermione would have pulled the sword herself, since if she did not find Harry in time she would have figured out why he died and perhaps find herself able to get it and destroy at least the necklace herself. There are a lot of ways the story could have gone with this one detail removed. Your scenario seems credible and plausible.

Yeah, thank god he returned to them! I mean, he'd probably end up killing HIMSELF when he found out that Harry drowned because Ron didn't come back to them. (Edit) after reading some more comments, I realised that Snape was there (I didn't know that because I haven't got to that book and haven't seen any of the films in AGES) so Harry wouldn't have died. Thank goodness! Even though I'm in Ravenclaw, my fav character is Harry. (And IF I had a celebrity crush, which I don't because I already have a boyfriend, it would be Daniel Radcliffe :3)

hi. this wouldnt be a theory but could you do suggestions for what would happen if james or lily survived and raised harry? james could have just been knocked out or stunned and lily could have apparaited out when james told her to run.
i think, while being protective, james might try and be 'father of the boy who lived' sense he is used to the spotlight, he would defeand sirius but might throw remus under the bus. lily on the other hand might become over-protective of harry, possably retreating into the muggle world out of fear. sirius would still go to askaban. please consider i think its intresting
I have the theory that Severus was watching everything so he may save Harry. So he could find a way to alert Hermione without letting her know it was him. Ron mentioned that he saw someone. Snape could have used Levicorpus or other spell. I don't think that Harry would have died. Snape wouldn't have allowed it.

I think the story might have been written differently. Mabey Harry would've taken the locket off first. And then got the sword without drowning. I'm more curious about what could've happened after that. For example Would Harry still save the world? And what might happen relationship wise between Harry and Hermione?

Ron's absence still changes a lot of things like the Battle of Hogwarts, the Gringotts break-in, etc.
Harry couldn't be killed as long as the Horcrux inside him was intact. Harry would simply have passed out and then awakened underwater and come to the surface. No way can a Horcrux be drowned so Harry would have survived. Remember that Voldemort's rebounding death curse when Harry was a baby destroyed his body, but his soul was still tied to earth by the other Horcruxes so he remained even without a body.
The Horcrux in Harry wouldn't even be damaged by so simple a death as by drowning or strangulation. So the Horcrux inside Harry would be completely intact as would the locket. By using Harry's blood to resurrect himself, Voldemort tied his fate ever more firmly to Harry's. So long as Voldemort himself was alive, Harry would survive. That's why Dumbledore wanted to arrange for Voldemort himself to kill Harry. Only that way could the connection (Horcrux) between them that tied both to the mortal earth be destroyed. And only then could Voldemort himself be killed.
No. Snape wouldn't let Harry drown, he'd wait til he was unconscious and pull him out, he would have probably expected this to happen had Ron not saved him first.

I love that you cover this,there's no denying that Ron as much as we all love him has a dark inside and a bit of a temper problem and he can be quiet manipulative ,of course he feels bad about it right away and goes back to be awesome Ron but he does have an odd "dark " impulsive side.Ruper Grint is brilliant the first time I watched the goblet of fire that confirmed it .From then on I think he is probably one of the best actors in the whole cast ,and by the way who can dislike this video ? 40 peasants !!

Thank you once again for an awesome video! This idea was already suggested earlier in the comments but just thought I would ask again in more detail. Could you please do a video on how the story would change if Professor Snape actually was working for Voldemort and decided to abandon Dumbledore after Lilly's death? Yeah that's one detail I never quite got was if Snape was so in love with Lilly why would he decide to stay allied to Dumbledore when he didn't stop her death from occurring and even put his own life in mortal peril to assure his plans would come to fruition. I don't know maybe I'm not thinking abstractly enough about the situation but I just think it would have made more sense for Snape to maybe even try to bring Harry to the dark side to save him rather than keep him on the straight and narrow.
On another note a video on why Snape stayed allied to Dumbledore after Lilly's death would be greatly appreciated as well if not already done :)

AND Harry and Hermione would have DEFINITELY ended up together. If Ron never went back, I would have been really sad bc they've known each other from the start. And tbh, best friends are like family so he would have made it back to them anyway.
