Harry Potter came so close to being sorted into Slytherin over Gryffindor that it actually took the boy pleading with the sorting had not to sort him into Salazar’s house in order for that hat to then choose Gryffindor. However if Harry was put in Slytherin, What would change for him? What would change in the story? Lets do the whole thing, let’s cover each book 1-7 on what would happen if the boy who lived was the boy who was sorted into Slytherin.

@@AmySwain03 maybe he would at the begining, as his parents send him a letter saying that they are dissappointed in him, specially remembering what happened with Sirius, Narcissa and Lucius would be harder on him as they don't want their son to end up like Sirius, and Draco cares about making his family proud.

If harry potter was put into Slitherin Snape would be closer to him and Harry wouldn’t hate him so much but the events that would take place would still stay the same.

Maranwë Adalaniell there are other characters that I would be interested to see your book on like James Potter and serious black Remus lupine Peter Pettigrew Albus Dumbledore and others. It would be cool just to see the point of view from the rise but Snape would be my first book that I would read because he is my favorite character as I said.

If the hat ignored Harry and put him in Slytherin, it'd also probably put Ron in Hufflepuff and Hermione in Ravenclaw. That's just how I imagine the story being.

Initial thoughts: If he still became friends with Ron and did the car thing, Snape probably would have expelled him.
You should do how Harry would have changed in the other 2 houses too

I think Slytherin Harry would have started befriending students from other houses. I could see him meeting Susan Bones being able to relate to someone else who has lost family to Voldemort and from her possibly meeting other hufflepuffs. In Slytherin he may have sat next to ravenclaws in his year or whatever so maybe he became friends with some of them. I doubt he'd have many Gryffindor friends besides maybe Ron and I also doubt he'd have any slytherin friends at least the only one's he'd have spoken to were those not afraid of Draco or Pansy which is probably very few. I think that even just making one new different friend could have the potential to change the whole story from there and now at the end of writing this I have a fanfiction idea dammit.
My guess is that the story would not change largely. Friendships between houses are very much possible and not all Slytherins are arrogant pricks like Draco. He would likely find some good and trustworthy friends in Slytherin and probably Ron would still remain a friend to him, maybe it would take longer for them to really get a close friendship with him since they would not spent so much time together but int he end I doubt this will largely matter.
And even if this friendship won't came to be, he most likely find some good and honest friends in slytherin too. The biggest problem is how he can defeat the basilisk and the Horcruxes as the sword of griffindor won't appear (unless his bravery in the moment will cause the Slytherin Harry to be seen as a "true Griffindor" too), but being in slytherin he also would have a linkt to the people who thrive for power and knowledge the most and he would likely gain some dark knowledge about a spell, potion, artifact or what ever that would have to power to kill basiliks and Horcruxes....
What also would be a huge impact is that Harry would be more vulnerable to Snape. I expect the Slytherin Harry to become a bit more cold when it comes to his emotions and maybe a bit more powerful when it comes to darker spells and magic.
Maybe the hat wanted to sort him into Slytherin because of the Dark Lord’s soul which was inside Harry.
More interesting, what would have happened if Hermione was sorted into Slytherin? If you think about it, she did embody a lot of traits of the house. She was extremely ambitious, liked being perceived as above others (at least in terms of intellect), was witty and cunning (trapping Rita Skeeter), and she was loyal (believing Harry during Gonlet of fire).

Technically if Harry had been put into Slytherin he would have been expelled in year two. Snape specifically said that if it were up to him he would have expelled him because of the flying car incident. So that would be it for Harry, and the rest of the story would have either been over, or would change so much that what we have now would mean nothing. The only thing that would have changed this was if Ron and Harry never pursued their friendship because of living in separate houses. That would then negate the flying car incident. Which means no matter which way you move forward it all would have been a completely different story.
On your question: I think Voldemort using the journal to be brought back into human form, removed the part of his soul he put in the book. Therefore removing its “hoarcrox properties”

I'm a slytherin but I like Harry, he's just a little ignorant but it's not his fault.
I feel like Harry being in Slytherin would definitely impact his relationship with Sirius.
Sirius’s impression of Slytherin was mainly based on his family and their associates. Yeah Harry is James and Lily’s kid, but he’s also in the house of Sirius’s tormentors.
But, also consider Regulus.
Harry is someone that Sirius inherently cares about. Similarly to how Sirius probably cared about his brother before everything tore them apart.
Sirius escapes Azkaban, his brother is dead, and his godson is in Slytherin.
I feel like Sirius would feel a heavier responsibility to take care of Harry. Not only because he’s his godson, but because he wouldn’t want someone he cares about to be affected by the house and to change like his brother had. In a sense, not only would he see James in Harry like he did originally, but he would also see his younger brother. Someone who has grown up in a broken household and quite literally thrown into a pit of snakes.

@MythKp I'm fine with Slytherin being the only house with Death Eaters in it, as pride, ambition and cunning do go to that extreme.
My problem is that no Slytherin is ever given the chance to show how ambition and cunning can be used in a positive manner.
It's why I think a Slytherin should have been the Hogwarts champion in Goblet of Fire, as only he could use cunning to solve the Sphinx's riddle, and afterwards his friends could join DA to show not all Slytherins were just cruel bullies.
I might not have such a problem with this if JK wasn't trying to constantly hammer in "Don't be a racist" as a key message of the books, as well as "Don't judge a book by it's cover," so why being in Slytherin instantly makes you mean, cruel, petty, spiteful or jealous and having no positive personality traits is utterly beyond me.

I know this has a happy ending, but you forgot three factors: Barty Jr surviving, a good looking Voldemort, and Voldemort not having Harry's protection in his veins.

@@Squoski93 No it wouldn't be necessary as he's back already at the end of chamber. He wouldn't need Harry's blood which makes it impossible for Harry to survive at the end since that connection is what kept him alive. Unless Voldemort is stupid enpught to want to touch him he doesn't need it

Also, without the skill and experience he'd gained during his formative Hogwart years in the original timeline, the entire fight between him and Voldemort would have hinged on the deus ex machina of that protection. It would have made for a very lackluster finale.

I saw a theory somewhere that said that Harry, Ron, and Hermione represent the three other houses but were all somehow placed in Gryffindor. Harry represents Slytherin for his cunningness and ambition. Hermione represents Ravenclaw for her wit and wisdom. Ron represents Hufflepuff for his kind nature and immense loyalty to his friends. I truly think each one of them belongs in Gryffindor but possess the traits of the other houses. :)

He helps Harry and Hermione in the Troll incident, almost ready to sacrifice himself in the chess game, and that's when they were 11. And yeah, he's always got Harry's back no matter what (except for the one time he was under the influence of the locket), he defends Harry when Seamus accuses him of lying, and yeah, not to mention, Ron Harry Hermion going thru shit everytime but they do it together. Sure Ron is not friendly at all :)
Mm I have to disagree. I love Ron, but he is not friendly at all. He is a good person, but he is full of prejudices and is very flawed. Hermione is not full of wisdom, I mean she is, but not because she is "naturally intelligent" it is because she works so damn hard (which I actually value more). She is a different type of intelligent to, for example, Luna. The harry one kinda makes sense though, but he also is basically a horcrux so that might've twisted what the sorting hat said

@@jjbum3726 Possibly, but the other kids didn't know about Harry being the boy who lived. This alone would cause some of the children to ignore Draco as just being jealous. And if Harry did indeed become the slytherin seeker over Draco, this would only make more students think this.
Imagine this: Harry in slytherin, hermione in ravenclaw, Neville in hufflepuff, and Ron in gryffindor, and they’re all still friends. In book 1, Neville recognizes devils snare, Harry does the flying, Ron captains the chess, and hermione still figures out the potion puzzle. The larger story arc would be the 4 of them uniting all the houses against Voldemort.

In my opinion, it’s good but I would Switch Ron and Neville, although Neville was not very brave at the beginning of the series, both the sorting hat and McGonnagle both knew what he had in him, and the trio only were in Gryffindor because they had the bravery to ask to be there other wise Harry would be in Slytherin, Hermione in Ravenclaw, And Ron in Hufflepuff.
Great idea but they didn’t do it because it would’ve taken away too much time and importance from Harry in a Harry Potter movie. Now if they made a movie like that with the original house founders, like rowena ravenclaw, Godrick gryffindor etc, THAT I would see

But before that no he believed in pure blood supremacy like his daddy. Harry didn't like Malfoy when they first met. Harry saw that Malfoy was a bully and when he had insulted Ron Harry stuck by Ron. Harry has an experience with bullies. Maybe in book 7 they would have been 'friends'. Or after the war but before that Draco was filled with arrogance.

Your not giving Slyterins enough credit, Harry story would have remained mostly the same just some of the players would change. Harry would just find a new crew in that first year.

Everything Harry knows about Slytherin before he gets to the sorting hat, he knows from Hagrid. If Dumbledore hadn’t sent Hagrid, but sent someone else instead, or asked the Ministry to send someone, Harry might have had no preconceptions. So was Dumbledore manipulating the situation by sending Hagrid? I think so
That's so called 'Great Dumbledor's Plan".
There's a theory that every move was planned by Dumbedore and even Hagrid had a "mission" to create a certain image of Gryffindor and Slytherin in Harry's head.

Hmm, if Ron and Harry weren’t friends, Ron would still have said horrible things about hermione cause he was mean to her, she still would of got attacked by the troll but Ron wouldn’t of even noticed she was gone cause ya know, emotional range of a teaspoon, and hermione would have died in the first book! :s
That would shock and traumatize Ron, making him slip into a depression and stray away from others out of guilt. Harry, who still has no friends of his own, would quickly notice that something is wrong with him and start trying to approach him, since they liked each other when they first met. Ron would probably be reluctant to talk to a Slytherin in the beginning, but then remember what happened because of the way he treated Hermione, so he would eventually confide in Harry and they would become friends again. That would help Ron pull himself together and become much more responsible and careful with people, possibly also hardworking like Hermione was, and change his opinion about Slytherin due to Harry's friendship
The reason she was crying in the bathroom was because she overheard ron saying something rude about her to HARRY . MAYBE it wouldn't have turned out with her in the bathroom without Harry.

No, she would not die, Remember, in the book, the actual book, this happened, Harry on Halloween night: where's Hermione: Neville: I don't know if you can tell but she's been in the girl's bathroom all day, crying, showing, Neville knew that Hermione was in there so he would've probably gone to Dumbledore telling him that Hermione was in the girl's bathroom not knowing about the troll. Or maybe when Gryffindor was going up to their dormitory, they probably would've have checked they had everyone and would've noticed Hermione wasn't there, looked for her, and saved her from the troll. There are many ways Hermione would've still survived the troll attack,

Harry would have hated being in Slytherin because their personalities reminded him of the Dursleys. I still think his friendship with Ron would blossom in the first year, but there would be suspicion on Ron's side about Harry's character. Harry's friendship with Hermione would face greater odds but not feeling welcome or accepted by Slytherin house, Harry would have no problem breaking his house loyalty to be friends with her. Harry's outcast life in Slytherin would parallel Sirius's and his role as a father figure to Harry would be more prominent.

I think he might have tolerated some Slytherins more than others like his preference for Slughorn over Snape, but he would not have found his people in that house. It's book canon that not one Slytherin student stayed to fight the Death Eaters in the Battle of Hogwarts, so I don't think it's too generalized to assume what their loyalties would are in this case.
But Gaius Wyrden brings up a good point, and I agree that his presence in Slytherin would have caused a divide.

It was always funny to me that he was so anti-Slytherin he’d known about the houses for what a week at best? And learned about them from people he just met. Like what if he’d met a Slytherin alumnus before Hagrid or met Draco before Ron?
He did meet Draco before Ron. He met Draco in Diagon Alley when Hargrid took him to get his school things. He initially formed a dislike of Draco because Draco reminded him of Dudley Dursley: spoiled and greedy.

Anyway, just because Harry is surrounded by evil people it does not mean he would lose his moral character. Sirius didn't, and his family was the worst of the worst. That being said, it's possible Harry's mind could be warped by some of the slytherins' ideas but I'm not sure by how much.

You think so? I think it'd be a more of a story about rifts between Slytherins, as Harry emerged a leader among them and rejected a lot of their more sinister traits. The Gryffindors at most would have been a bit snooty and brusque towards them, but would have been outsiders.

True,but they could just have saved the locket until they had means to destroy them. One scenario would be they get all the horcruxes they find in DH originally (locket,cup,diadem) and they are destroyed in the fiendfyre anyways. Harry WOULDNT die, since even though Voldemort didnt use his blood anymore, therefore no 2-way connection ( Voldemorts soul in harry ,harrys blood in Voldemort) ,and that by this point, harry WAS still a horcrux,regardless of whether Voldemort took his blood or not. So Lilys blood sacrifice ended for Harry since he turned 17, and never continued through Voldemort, like in the original series. So in the forbidden forest, lilys blood sacrifice is non existent. Voldemort still uses Avada Kedavra on Harry with the Elder wand and since harry is still the master of the elder wand , the Horcrux inside him would be the one to be destroyed.
With the quidditch question of book 1, Snape would have punished him. Talented or not, the slytherin team was on a winning streak and had no reason to let Harry join the team.

Since starting at Hogwarts, this eleven year old Muggleborn girl is behaving in a way that doesn't earn her any friends at all. Hermione doesn't get on with any of her dorm mates, (Lavender Brown, Parvati Patil, very probably Sally Ann Perks and another girl like Fay Dunbar not mentioned in the books but who is on the students list JKR used for planning, please read the essay "The Secrets Of The Class List" on the online HP lexicon dot org) she hasn't managed to connect to any other Gryffindor (or Ravenclaw or Hufflepuff) students - girls or boys - so far at this point in time. At least we never read a word about it in the book, because the reader sees everything through Harry's biased, naïve eyes!
Muggleborn / Mudbloods are a minority group amongst all the Hogwarts students. Only the Light side wizards (Dumbledore's followers) don't hate them on sight. It's considered being 'modern, progressive', to be welcoming to Muggleborn students in general.
But that doesn't mean that the other students and teachers like everyone coming new into the wizarding world.
The neutral party families tolerate the Muggleborn students more or less, the dark sect families despise, loathe, hate them on sight.
In every school, everywhere, Muggle or Magical, such students like Hermione Granger with her attention seeking ways, her righteous goody-two-shoes, Know-it-all attitude, are despised by the student body.
Professor Snape treats her harshly, tells her to stop it, to sit down, for a good reason.
(only canon Harry doesn't get it, obviously, he just sees unfairness).
Granger tries to be a teacher's pet, always waiving her hand into the air to get the teacher's attention, and often blurting out answers and full out quotes from text books without being called on to speak, thereby preventing and hindering other, slower students to find the answer and to think for themselves. Maybe in her previous Muggle primary school such behaviour was tolerated, but most teachers don't want to see this behaviour in a secondary school like Hogwarts.
Hermione Granger would behave exactly the same like she does in book canon, or in the 1. film, getting on other people's nerves, alienating her class mates more and more, every day. It doesn't depend on Harry Potter being a fellow Gryffindor at all.
In this Charms lesson on 31. October 1991, Samhain or Halloween, like the Muggles call this day, she tries to "help" the students seated on her left or right side, although nobody wants her help.
Either Ron articulates what he thinks of her, Know-it-all, etc. out in the corridor or another student criticizes her. It doesn't matter. She's heard this all her life, she's sad, upset, can't understand why nobody likes her, why all her attempts to make friends fail.
Miss Granger hurries away to cry in the girls bathroom. Stays there for several hours.
The troll finds her. She freezes in panic, instead of fighting or ducking and trying to run away. He swings his club, reduces the toilet stalls to rubble. Granger dead. Either at once, or after becoming a quick troll snack.
End of story.
Nobody noticed in canon that HG was missing in the Great Hall, besides HP.

I do agree with most of this but I have thoughts on the idea that Harry would still have supporters in book seven among the children of death eaters even if for the wrong reasons. By this time Harry has already become friends with a “mud blood” and a muggle sympathizer so I have a hard time believing any of them would still see Harry as a direct replacement for Voldemort especially since the later is actually there again and by this time Harry’s true nature and alignment have been revealed in the ways that he’s stood against Umbridge, stood up for Dumbledore, fought the death eaters at the ministry, and befriended people who are directly against the interests of the death eaters. I think about the time he really became friends with Hermione he would start getting seriously bullied and hated upon by all of his housemates.
This seems more like "How could the timeline stay the same despite Harry being in Slytherine?" Maybe it would be a more interesting/relevant what-if if you assumed a slight change in attitude from Harry? He's an 11 year old boy when starting at Hogwarts, it's not that far fetched that he would be moulded by his environment. Despite a bumpy start with Malfoy, I do believe in such a timeline Harry would befriend him rather than Ron and Hermione. Alternatively some other Slytherin-students and then square up with Malfoy later.
I do think you present an interesting version on how Voldemort comes back here, and I do agree that he would still want to kill Harry out of spite/revenge. However, as you said, he would not need to do so in order to come back. Also, in this version, Voldemort would not be immune to Harry's touch any more (he didn't use Harry's blood to resurrect) so he might want to be careful with confronting him.
I'm imagining Harry being allowed to grow up thinking he will become a powerful wizard (maybe he'l be more ambitious rather than straight up evil, and cracks in his friendship with Malfoy would show over the years as their different values comes to the surface.) I think however that Voldemort would put up a facade of wanting to recruit Harry and turn him to the dark side, while secretly planning to kill him. In this version, slytherine-Harry might see himself more as a rival to Voldemort, aspiring to take his place rather than stop him.

Its like Harry and Malfoy in the original timeline suddenly deciding to give each other a second chance and have a normal conversation together, and start becoming friends at some point. They already decided that they are enemies, and are surrounded by people who are convinced Slytherin and Gryffindor are enemies. Even if Harry and Ron in this alternate timeline secretly thought that the other one seemed like a nice guy and they wanted to get to know each other better, there is this thing called peer pressure. Harry might be resistant to it, but Ron, particularly without Harry's influence, doesn't seem like the person who would stand against peer pressure. Particularly not for a Slytherin
Might I remind you that in this *What If* version of events, Quirrelmort would not have encountered Harry in front of the mirror hiding the Philosopher's stone at the end of first year.
No fighting going on, therefore he hasn't experienced that Harry's mere touch can burn him like fire.
But, during first year Quirrelmort has certainly kept an eye on Harry, watching and observing. He must be surprised and intrigued by this child, his supposedly prophesied mortal enemy, who does not act at all as expected. Everyone including Snape and Quirrelmort expected the Boy Who Lived to have grown up in the lap of luxury, coddled and spoiled rotten, to be instantly sorted into Gryffindor. To bask in his fame. To strut around the castle full of arrogance and entitlement, with an entourage of Gryffindor friends and admirers, just like his father James did.
I believe that Quirrelmort and Snape both will be rattled enough by this unexpected turn of events to really look at Harry, to notice all the little things they overlooked in canon because they were both so blinded by their own preconceived notions of who and what this blasted !Potter! boy is.
And if they look closely, if they pay attention to how the boy moves, talks, eats, dresses, writes, acts in class and outside of class, keeps his distance to people, wary and distrustful, they might notice that something is definitely wrong.
Both Snape and Tom Riddle grew up in harsh conditions, in abusive situations in the Muggle world. They will recognise the signs.
Snape might care, because Harry is Lily's child too. Or he might be indifferent, or think it great karma, that James Potter's son has suffered through an abusive childhood with Muggles for ten long years.
But Voldemort wouldn't just watch from afar, he'd take advantage of the situation if at all possible without raising suspicion. Facilitate friendly talks with Harry after class in his office, (we know diary!Tom is excellent at pretending to care, of lending a kindly ear to a first year student's woes) possibly recommend some books to read and offer extra tutoring to bring him up to speed with his wizard raised pureblood and half-blood Slytherin House mates.
And he might discover pretty soon that Harry is feeling physical pain in his scar in his proximity, and that he's a parselmouth. What? How can Potter speak!? Now that would change everything, if Voldemort realised early on what exactly Harry is!
It shouldn't be very difficult to turn Harry against Dumbledore and the light side, who abandoned him all alone on the Dursleys doorstep 10 years ago, forgotten until they deemed the time right to retrieve him and parade him around again in front of the masses.
Harry would jump at any chance to go somewhere else during the summer, to not have to return to Little Whining.

He'd see Harry's sorting into Slytherin as a 'betrayal', a sign that 'Harry Potter is going dark'. He wouldn't want to be friends with such a cowardly slimly snake... And the peer pressure is certainly an important factor.
@@CM.825 Cool add-ons. If Quirrel doesn't fight Harry at the end of year 1, there is no reason why he should be replaced as DADA-teacher the next year. Also since quirrel has voldemort sticking out from the back of his head, it make sense that he would not be affected by the "curse" on the job. We might see a totally diffetent dynamic, where Quirrel takes on a sort of mentor role over the years instead of Dumbledore. Ofc Dumbledore might get suspicious of the only dada-teacher since voldemort's job interview to last more than a year. And Snape was already suspicious of Quirrel.
Speaking of Snape, as he is now Harry's head of house, I believe he would be less inclined to bully him openly in class, especially if he is friends with Snape's favourite golden egg; Malfoy. I believe Snape would be influenced to see more of Lily in Harry (particularly if he sees his good sides and not just him breaking rules and messing around in class) He might take the perspective that the potter-boy can turn out all right after all, and take it upon himself to tutor Harry towards that.
I smell a sort of power struggle between Snape and Quirrel over Harry😂 at least until Quirrel is exposed. Maybe in year 4, Quirrel is able to ressurect voldemort per their original plan (quirrel taking on a sort of Wormtail-role after maybe? Since he is like a coward at heart?) Either way his time at hogwarts is over and the story takes a drastic turn as in the original timeline. Maybe its too late and voldemort has already "turned" harry. Year 5 and 6 is then Harry and Malfoy working together for voldemort, and harry helping out with the vanishing cabinet-plot in year 6
Can see it now instead of that dramatic pause when snape says " people might get the feeling you were ... up...to something" ( I feel I've butchered that quote😂) when he gets taken to snape and suggests him as there new seeker snape replies " maybe you being a slytherin mr potter wont be a (catches harry scowling at him) ...complete disaster after all"

Harry potters fame an conviction wpuldve seen a change to slyerine. Civil war harry side vs Malloy side. Harrys success at quidditch would further his popularity an his position in house. Snake seeong more of Lily in him wouldn't have been as hard on Harry. Dumbledore would ensure he had friends. Slyerine would've become more honorable than mean. It would take Harry the year just to start changing the schools oppion of the house. The house wouldn't change Harry at his core. An the horcrux in him would've excelled him at his studies..snape would push him to be better than heromine whose in ravenclaw

Yeah. This would not have happened anyway because the author would have obviously changed a few things. No way they could keep everything the same but Harry would be in a different house. It would make no sense.

Abuse victims handle things differently depending on the person. There are many ways a child might try to cope with it or how they'd turn out, but I'd think instead of angry, Harry would be more like Neville. Unsure of himself and a bit clumsy due to constantly being treated like nothing at home. He'd also be either more distrustful of people's intentions, or too eager to conform in order to gain the approval he lacks at home.
In that case I'd think Hufflepuff, with it's bright demeanor, would make a better house for him. Since Harry was never an academic (so not Ravenclaw) and both Gryffindor and Slytherin students would be too eager to influence him down a certain path.

I really think we should’ve been given more “good” students from Slytherin. Also, just having more prominent characters from each house would’ve been neat.
This what if doesn't work. Voldmort has to take Harry's blood. It's the only way Harry can survive Voldemort killing the Horcrux in Harry. And the Horcrux has to be killed for Harry to kill Voldemort.
I think it would Cedric who founded the DA and it would be a very different organisation
Cedric would found the DA. ZHarry would have joined as his second. Feeling alone he would betray his house and act as a spy for the DA. Harry would also fall in love with Jinny much sooner as he marveled at her magic skills.

what would have more likely lead to this scenario would be hagrid never bringing up the houses to harry so harry just goes in with an open mind.
i would also believe that snape would taken great interest in harrys development, but even if he didn't, he wouldn't have hurt slytherin as a whole just to pick on him, thus i believe that harry would have trusted snape in a way similar to how he trusted minerva.
i also disagree with your interpretation of book 2, quirrel likely would not have attended another year since dumbledore would have caught him red handed, trying to get the stone, as voldemort himself only escaped because harry got there first, thus a duel between dumbledore and quirrelmort would have occurred, leaving quirrel dead and voldemort weakened once again, left to lick his wounds.
coming book 2, lucy still would have tried to give the diary to ginny, the chamber is opened and the basilisk does what he does, harry hears voices coming from the walls, but now ron isn't around to tell him that hearing voices is bad, so harry opens up about it to the only person he trusts, who, in this scenario, is snape.
sanpe and dumbledore, with the information now available to them, figure out that a basilisk is involved, they need harrys help to enter the chamber, but forbid him from coming along, harry does so anyway and this becomes important at the second door, at the same time ron convinces lockheart to hunt down the basilisk after finding the note on hermione, his dilemma plays out like normal as they arrive after the others. young tom riddle and the basilisk are no match for dumbledore and snape, with snape fighting tom and dumbledore fending off the basilisk together with fawks.
book 3 plays out just as it did except for harry not being allowed in hogsmede and also never getting there because he doesn't have the marauders map, so he never learns that sirius is the prime suspect in the potter case, he just think sirius is coming for him for being a death eater.
this is probably also the year where harrys friendship with ron and hermione really starts as harry is still friends with hagrid ever since the start of book one, so malfoy being a dick to hagrid is going to piss harry off and he would likely ask to join ron and hermione in their efforts to save buckbeak.
in this year sirius also attacks ron in his bed, prompting fred and george to give the marauders map to ron as they believe him to be in danger.
since ron now has the map, he starts roaming the corridors at night but, because he does not have an invisibility cloak, gets caught by snape, who gives the map to lupin as he did in the books.
now, because ron and hermione can not sneak out without the cloak or the map, the fights in the shrieking shack play out without harry, ron and hermione, lupin and sirius confront petigrew, snape shows up to arrest sirius, but he has no invisibility cloak in this scenario so sirius and lupin can best him together, petigrew escapes, sirius blasts a hole into the wall and tries to chase him in dog form but looses him while lupin stays in the shrieking shack until snape awakens, calms him down and drinks his wolf medicine.
later lupin tells harry the whole truth and gives harry the marauders map and provides a note from sirius that allows him to visit hogsmede, buckbeak is still killed in this scenario.
book 4 happens pretty much as in the book as harry and ron are now friends, they go to the quidditch cup together, death eaters happen yadayadayada, harry becomes champion of hogwarts, snape, being competent in legilimency, can tell that harry was not at fault here and instantly knows that something's up so he takes to personally teaching harry roughly the same spells harry studied with ron and hermione over the year, ced dies, voldie comes back, enter book 5
book 5 also happens roughly as in the book, except for when harry is sent to attend occlumency with snape, now since harry does trust snape in this scenario, harry might actually succeed in this, voldemorts plan to steal the prophecy fails and, instead the battle in the ministry is handled entirely by the order of the phoenix voldemort shows up personally since only he can retrieve the prophecy, but is driven off by dumbledore, sirius probably still dies dueling bellatrix in this scenario, but harry doesn't witness it.
He still would have talk about it with Draco and Ron, so his opinion would still be biaised

This would’ve gone completely different. Draco only started to bully Harry because Harry refused Draco’s friendship. If Harry had accepted, Draco would have never bullied him.
