Yup... Emppu is the guitarrist; as you were wondering at the beggining. Since you're already one of us; I think you'll find helpful to know their names. PS. "If you don't play this at my funeral, I'm not going". Hope you don't mind me using that line. I want Tuomas Holopainen's A Lifetime of Adventure in mine. Big love from Spain and please... Keep them coming.
The chorus part of this resembles A LOT Finnish folk songs. It sounds so familiar to me, I'd love ask Tuomas if he borrowed it .... just the tempo is significantly faster 🤣
I don't think you can say any band gives more to their audience than Nightwish. Thanks for the reaction! And EVERYONE should see a NW concert at least once in their lifetime!
As I have said many times. I have seen them live more than once. One time in a small venue where I was close enough to almost shake hands with them. I personally met them all a number of years ago. The nicest group of people ever. Absolutely no egos. They let the music do the talking. They were all very kind and patient with my questions and made me feel welcome. Truly a class act. If you ever get a chance to see them live, you will never regret it.
@@boramsey5122 Same, small club in austin on the imaginarium tour. they played as if they were at wacken though, absolutely did not have to go that hard for such a small "crowd," but hey, that's Nightwish. ...always remember till the day I die The Last of the Wilds literally shaking the air in that tiny ass club, makes me tear up every time I hear it now remembering that
That's SYMPHONIC METAL at its finest... Hard in "Master Passion Greed", soft in "While your lips are still red", melancholic in "the Islander" and happy in "The last ride of the day"... Nightwish kills it everytime and has a song for every situation and emotion
Epicness right there on that stage. Phenomenal song performed by the best band on Earth in my humble opinion. Thank you Sir for a great reaction. Paul 🙏😊👍❤️
Tuomas is the guy on the keyboards, he is the bands composer and founder, writes 90-95% of all lyrics and music. He goes by several nicknames, in his songs he refers to himself as Dead Boy, in the song Dead Boy's Poem, which is one you should really see in Buenos Aires. It is a very moving song especially if you read and understand all lyrics come from Tuomas. In songs he also refers to himself as the Songwriter, Poet, Ocean Soul, etc. Most of the songs have Easter eggs, like this Dead Boy line, as throw-backs to other songs.
But you missed the real nickname given to him by the fans - The Metal Mozart. I've played (violin) and sung (bass, male voice choir, and some time ago measured best on a geological timescale, boy soprano) classical music to modern, and in my opinion, nobody is more deserving of the name, and I'd go further - he is simply the best composer of our generation, in any genre.
Well,You have the hole Human Nature album to finnish and the greatest show on earth (Wembley version with Richard Dawkins). Poet and the pendelum from Wembley(with lyrics). That one you have to study before you react for it. I love when you with every Nightwish song are so suprised. That`s Nightwish Welkome to the army hugs Mike from the land of Nightwish, Finland
Empuu, the guitarist, is the prankster of the group and loves to interact with the fans. If given the chance he will sometime turn off the sound to Floor's earbuds when he passes behind her, so she usually keeps track of where he's at on stage.
Dead Boy refers to another song "Dead Boy's Poem". Nighwish regularly reference their other songs and ties their songs together with themes and snippets of lyrics. Its fun to hunt for those nuggets .
I can see that you really enjoyed it when you kept on smiling and didn't try to understand the lyrics. Great reaction. I think you should do a big one. "the poet and the pendulum" live at wembley with lyrics. Or "the greatest show on earth" live at Tampere. Stay safe 🤘😁🤘
this can be very good funeral song indeed, not so sad and dark :) ok now i see first time this new live version in masters of rock and not bad. thanx to great reaction and have great weekend there.
It is always good to see your enthusiasm for Nightwish grow. Your comment of having to see Nightwish in a life performance at least once in your life prompted me to buy a ticket for one of their concerts in the Netherlands in November this year, since I only got to know Nightwish after Covid shut all concerts down I have not seen them live before now.
@@pete70 for sure. All great concerts, but I think the audio engineer at Wacken one was a genius. He/She managed to capture the sound so well, instruments, voice, audience.
If you'd like to hear their song about death, listen to "Harvest" off their "Human Nature" album. Not what you would expect from Nightwish, but then, they are very versatile.
Thanks for this reaction. Have you noticed how many ladies are in the front rows and in the audience in general? Nightwish and Symphonic Metal is not only for guys...
Enjoy the rest of my day? Sir, nothing compares to watching another person sucked in by this amazing band. If Gabriel has already welcomed you aboard, his recommendations are on point. Can't wait for the next one!
It's epic metal, power metal in it's core (although Nightwish is so much more that just one genre)! You can also call it melodic, symphonic, operatic or just plainly - HAPPY METAL! :D
TBH, experiencing music live is usually better not only because of the songs, but the atmosphere of the venue. An engaged crowd just makes it so much better whether it's concerts, sports or anything in between.
My friend. Its called Symphonic metal.. This genre.. And Toumas that plays the keyboard who writes all the music. Is called the Mozart of metall because of his brilliant musical brain...
A few things, Not metal, but symphonic metal is probably the more accurate genre term. The "dead body" is just some of the stage decorations. You'll notice that Tuomas on the keyboards also has another one that is attached to his keyboard stand. You would love "The Greatest Show on Earth" from Tampere, 2015 (links below if you want). Doesn't get much more grand than that. Definitely one of the more lyrically rich ones so its worth diving into those for that song especially. Regardless though, whatever song you do next, we'll love it! No lyrics on screen: th-cam.com/video/45brzDJKZ3o/w-d-xo.html If you prefer the lyrics: th-cam.com/video/bl6lUfIMkGM/w-d-xo.html
hey MrLB, I reckon I may've mentioned this before but if I didn't, then I highly recommend: Endless Forms Most Beautiful - that one will get yer juices flowing! Great reaction btw ;-)
Great reaction. Check out some more songs from Wacken festifal. You need to see atleast these 4 -Song of Myself -Romanticide -Everdream -Dark chest of wonders (best show opener ever:)
Hey bro, you think they are amazing? You need to watch them perform at the Wacken 2013. All the songs are on point, You will not see a better performance from them.
Even with distance I have no problem to say that the fanbase of Nightwish is surely one of the most loyal and energetic ever in the music field and is rightfully called 'The Nightwish-Army'. The atmosphere created by them at all their concerts is unparalleled and fits perfectly with the mood that emanates from the music. Maybe a jump headfirst into the 'Ghost River' would be a good idea for the next video. And of course i'm talking about the live version :) https :// youtu. be/05eitd-EA6I
Symphonic Metal :) You mentioned this band being great with an orchestra. There is another band in this genre who did perform live with an orchestra and choir. Check out Within Temptation - Our Solemn Hour from the album Black Symphony! The whole album is amazing but the live concert videos are really special.
If I had to guess at the apparently dead body on stage it was probably used for the song Poet and The Pendulum which if you haven't listened to it you absolutely should. Just a guess though as I havent seen this entire show.
Tuomas uses the metaphor "Dead Boy" in many songs. This metaphor is referring to someone who has grown up and lost touch with the innocence of youth and the wonder at the world all around us. It is someone who is dead inside regarding all that is special, wondrous, mysterious, and new that life has to offer. You will find that Tuomas writes lyrics and music from the perspective of a man who never wants to grow up. Or he is constantly trying to recapture that innocence of youth. Loved your reaction my friend! Se you very soon I hope? 😊🙏👍
The chorus part of this resembles A LOT Finnish folk songs. It sounds so familiar to me, I'd love ask Tuomas if he borrowed it .... just the tempo is significantly faster 🤣
Lmao it is supposed to be a tree... I know it looks like a head on the front & almost can see a face but it is supposed to be his keyboards suspended on a tree trunk
"If this song is not playing at my funeral, I'm not going!"
Now that's a compliment!!!
Class!
yep. I'm stealing that. lol
When Marko sings "Wake up dead boy" he points at Emppu who then threatens to goose Marko with his guitar. Just having fun on stage.
Yup... Emppu is the guitarrist; as you were wondering at the beggining. Since you're already one of us; I think you'll find helpful to know their names.
PS. "If you don't play this at my funeral, I'm not going".

I recently learned that calling Emppu a dead boy is a running joke with the band. They do the same thing at Tampere.
The chorus part of this resembles A LOT Finnish folk songs. It sounds so familiar to me, I'd love ask Tuomas if he borrowed it .... just the tempo is significantly faster 🤣
Emppu is my spirit animal. Born for mischief! :)

The genre is Symphonic Rock/Metal. 0ne of my favorite genre. I have seen them love amd theor original operatic singer Tarja. Both great performances.
The grandness word you are looking for is "epic" most likely. Their music sounds like it should be in a LOTR movie. The genre is Symphonic Metal.
