So nice to hear your comment - I have driven the e-tron 55 so far over 65‘000km and since November I have the new MY2021. I am so happy with the e-tron 55. best regards from Switzerland.
The reason why it doesn’t have one pedal driving is because Audi believes it is more efficient to allow the car to lift and coast to maintain the speed it’s at vs braking to harness the energy only to spend it again to maintain your speed. It’s actually genius.
Unless you like 1-pedal driving, when it's not. My Ioniq 5 gives me the choice. Not a hater, I'm about to buy an e-tron and my wife will have the Ioniq 5, but I've grown to love 1-pedal. iX has it but.....
Kris, awesome 👍 to see you don’t have much issues, we have ours now going on 5 months, some of the issues you have can be sorted in the setting, if you reduce Driver assistance the Lane keep assist will not come on by default; aloo if you setup your profile for efficiency mode, Max regen turns on by default and you never have to touch the petals on the steering wheel..
Also range is not bad, our previous Tesla model X P90D has the same range as the eTron and become the eTron charges so much faster road trips are so much quicker in the eTron vs the Model X .. and as you tested it’s very close to the model 3 long range ... so I don’t get it why anyone nock the eTron range .. overall it’s very good better than most Tesla’s ..
@@KrisRifa And since this thread is dedicated to advices. :-) Try to hang your shades on the handle above the driver's door. That might make it less useless.
i guess Im asking the wrong place but does anybody know a tool to get back into an Instagram account..? I stupidly lost the login password. I appreciate any assistance you can give me.
Awesome Kris. I’m very happy you are still passionate about your vehicle. That door closing sound is impressive and I know so many other vehicles on the market just don’t seem to be able to offer that, and perhaps too many customers don’t seem to appreciate it either. But for those that do it’s wonderful that there are still auto makers who know how to accomplish it. I know there are a set of camps out there with regenerative braking on the release of the accelerator. Are used to do that all the time with my Chevy Bolt EV (Ampera E) by Putting it in L mode whenever I got in the car. Though I enjoyed the challenge of not having to use the brake pedal others who rode with me were not as entertained with the somewhat golf cart feeling of every time you’re not accelerating your decelerating. In the One year wait time I had between putting a deposit and obtaining a Porsche Taycan, I prepared myself by using D mode. This was an improvement to my passengers as well. The Porsche by default on accelerator release has zero regen by default and at best when you turn on the regen mode you get about D mode like the drag of an automatic transmission vehicle. However, the car can generate 265kW of regen power if the brake pedal is used. I have learned that the brake pedal gives the most predictable results. Also generally on the motorway I use InnoDrive or ACC so do not need to worry about breaking for traffic in those conditions anyway. I hope you’ll eventually get a little longer time with the Porsche Taycan Cross Turismo and be able to give a review. I enjoyed your video on the Taycan explaining how you wanted to just have some private time with the vehicle as the hours were short. I completely agree, you need to not share every minute with TH-cam.
Hi Kris, Re:Regeneration (or recuperation). Are you running in 'automatic' mode? Some people use the single pedal theory because they are used to EVs that always recuperate when you take the foot off the accelerator. This is a waste of energy. Sometimes it is more efficient to coast along. The ETron does this brilliantly and its amazing how far you can go without any input of power. Some may argue that, to some extent, if you need to recover energy then you should not have used it in the first place, but I think this theory is a bit too extreme, but it does demonstrate a point!. Why not use the other pedal to do the work for you? Some people call this the 'brake' pedal. In an ETron it is not really a brake pedal at all, but a recuperation and slowing down pedal. When you press it it uses recuperation first and only applies the discs if it needs to. Whilst you are braking, take a look at the power meter, you will see that you get far more recuperation using the 'brake' pedal than you can get using the paddles. In the video I can see the indicator moving as you click the paddle. Under braking the power recuperation goes way past the second 'click' on the indicator. The paddles are great when you need to trim some speed for some reason, like traffic slowing ahead, when there isn't a need for braking and when brake lights might mislead the vehicles behind. I have tested both manual and automatic modes on the same route extensively over the past 4 months since I got the etron, and automatic mode beats manual mode consistently for range. Mine is only a '50' though, and so I dont get 'boost', so I envy you! Bets wishes
I have replaced my Model 3 Dual last week with a e-tron. I agree with all your comments. I lot less acceleration than Tesla and I miss the one pedal driving but the comfort and finish are so incredible. Great review.
Possible improvements: *Battery temp indicator in menu *Possibility for heating battery before HPC *Better lighting around car when reversing in low light/moist conditions. Reversing/360 Cameras don't deliver when most needed *Distance indicators not exact enough for tight turns/parking. Especially in front due to long, high bonnet

After viewing many videos of Chris (many thanks !), I chose the E-tron Sportback 55 as company car, with the extra acoustic glass. Really good car. An additional point for improvement: it would be nice to have the SOC % in the main screen, next to the km range. I am more focused on the SOC than the range. Question: Which suspension mode do you recommend? I mostly drive in "efficiency" mode. Or would it be better to choose "auto" or even "individual" ? Greetings from (near) Brussels, where this car is produced ;)
I noticed a door on your left side lower dash that might be a sunglass storage. My BMW has that. do not know if you noticed that or not. most people do not notice them because they are out of sight.

Kris has to speak for himself - but both of the cars mention are smaller. Alot smaller when it comes to family cars, and both are cramped compared to e-tron. If you focus only on drive quality and price - the Polestar 2 would win it I guess. If you need similar space like e-tron, the cars mentioned do not cut it.
If you have 2-3 kids, child seats, a dog, a sh*tload of luggage, the cabin road looks as bad as the off-road adverts, want quick(er) recharge at HPC, don't get put off discussions that your car chugs more coal/miles than a diesel and don't mind that your car always feels as nimble as the boat you actually CAN have trailing You can't go wrong with the Audi55 🥰
Hi Kris. I am interested in buying an e-tron 55 from Audi Selection Plus Spain. The car is from January 2021, has 27,000 km and is very well equipped. It is priced at €41,500. Do you think it is a good buy?
Yes I bought a 50 but couldn't live with the range and lack of goodies (technik) on Friday I pick up an 18 month 55 launch edition with lots of goodies. Hi, Kris. How comfortable, particularly during a long distance drive, is the front seat in your Audi EV vs the Volvo EV? I own a 2020 V90 Inscription T6 AWD, and it's seats are incredibly comfortable, particularly on long distance drives. Just curious how the Audi EV seats compare.
QUESTION: When you use the windshield wiper dispenser, does the water shoot up to the middle or the bottom of the windshield? My Audi Q3 the dispenser shoots to the lower portion on the glass...annoys the heck out of me!! All Q3 do this 😡😠😡
I'm new to Audi and got the E-Tron Sportback a few days ago... I've been learning to drive the vehicle in 100% max manual recuperation settings. hi nice review you have on your site, i have one question how is the NOKIAN HAKKAPELIITTA R3 SUV tyres working on the ice roads in norway ? i am thinking about to get it under my E tron or is there any better tyres you recommend ? for the 20 inches
Lane keep assist is ON by default because it's a safety feature. If the driver decides to disable it that's now a decision the driver makes and puts the liability on the driver.
Interesting that lower range is compensated for by much quicker charging than most; maybe that’s where Jaguar could improve their i-PACE? And of course, the Audi - like Jaguar and Mercedes EQC - is a heavy car. Perhaps for the mark2 of all these 3 the makers should concentrate on increasing range and recharging speeds, whilst trying at the same time to reduce overall weight!
