I disagree with you on early Chris being harmless. He had a rap sheet before the internet heard about him. He was always dangerous, always self-aggrandizing, always violent, always delusional, and always depraved. He regularly SAd Megan, and again, this was before the trolls ever started in on him. He also ran over Mike from TGP, too. So your thesis doesn't make much sense. He'd have turned out a mess no matter what. That's not to excuse the trolls, they're absolutely wretched, but Chris is not a monster because of them. He always was one.
I dunno. You go to great lengths to say how Chris did terrible things, and to a large extent you are alluding to his racist and homophobic remarks. The end you say "such views should be corrected" but, you should have said - tolerated. To say corrected you are standing on a slippery slope. The trolls can argue they bullied him to right a wrong. I did not get through the entire doco, but Chris from what I observed never expressed that he was not willing to share the world with people of different sexuality, or race as him. He merely took offence to being labeled homosexual. This was clearly his autism. For the trolls, this was their in, and excuse to bully him. If you cant see that, you need your head examined. The trolls are even vile racists and homophobes, who mask their unremorseful bullying of a person on the spectrum in a disguise of social justice vigilantism; to somehow legitimize it. Chris was also known to have expressed that he wanted a white girlfriend. Truth is, in my younger years I probably said the same thing to myself and to my closest friends. We all come from a little bubble world, where hopefully we travel, meet people, and expand our horizons. Chris unfortunately due to his disability, and economic situation, was NEVER going to experience life as most people can/will. You should have also gone further. Its not just the trolls, do not forget it was the community who fueled the flames and egged the trolls on, and so they need to also take some blame. So many comments blame the parents, but I cant see this playing out the way it did without the bullies tearing him down, and the community of fake fans who helped build on his delusion of grandeur. PS. You blame Chris' parents because of the clutter. Perhaps you need to visit elderly people who are living by themselves with no support. Some can maintain very tidy homes, but a lot will hoard and have cluttered homes. I think that point was a huge stretch, and reaching for any point that seems original or new.
You talk about his autism and then say things like he should of grown out of drawing comics and living in their imaginary world, calling him a monster. You go from knowing he would have been better off in special schools to talking about him like he's a someone who doesn't have severe mental impairments. I get your doing the best you can but open your fucking heart. This is the psychological torture of a autistic man and then when it comes to things he does you Judge them like he's not autistic. Maybe your child will have autism and get mercilessly made fun of for it then called a monster by half a million suffering souls who can't find peace in on this funky rock.
@@jackrussell3084Chris's parents were still his parents. They don't get absolved of the responsibility because they're old. If they were too old to raise a child, they probably were too old to be getting into each other's pants. I don't absolve them of being hoarders because of their age. I don't think they were monsters but they were undeniably neglectful.
Though the trolls themselves would never admit it (though maybe some of them would), THEY were his friends. They were just extremely manipulative, terrible friends. But the people you spend weeks or months or years talking to and interacting with are your friends. So when Bob died, of course Chris talked to a troll. Besides his family, they were the most important people in his life.
@@hecklejack7726 there was also another girl he made genuine friends with after megan known as the "wallflower". Sadly he made the mistake of showing her real name in a video, exposing her to the trolls to doxx, and so she cut ties with him
@@just_some_greek_dude megan doesnt really save anyone, all she did was stay out of Chris life once she realized how twisted he actually is. Bob treated Chris like his grandchild, spoiling him rotten and didn't get him some help. However, Chris might be Bob's best parenting attempt judging from the fact that his other children never came back for him
Not true. We have one hero in the form of Michael Snyder. Sure, you could argue he was a victim since he was hit by Chris’ car, but he stood his ground when Chris tried to weasel his way back to the Game Place
I really wished you discussed at how manipulative Barbara was to the family during the early years but maybe that could be for another discussion, cause she was just as guilty as Bob in terms of they raised Chris, aside from negligence.
Like the time they turned down a proposed dinner she was gonna make one night so she swore never to cook for the family again - a promise she actually genuinely kept? As well as her constant threats of suicide?
The way she treated Cole, Chris' older half-brother, was pretty terrible, to the point that he didn't want anything to do with her ever. When he was a kid, she fired a gun at a non-existent home intruder, almost hitting Cole in the head. And after it came to light that the person who Cole thought was his father wasn't, she refused, maybe even to this day, to tell him who his actual father is.
I went to primary school with a similar kid to childhood Chris. He got bullied relentlessly and no one was held accountable ever. Now 20 years later I hear him when he’s riding his bike through our neighborhood and he has very loud and painful sounding vocal tics. He always had some vocal tics but now he’s screaming and people are scared of him or picking fights with him. I feel awful for him. His parents made him go to a school that violently rejected him when it should have been giving him safety
Some parents cannot afford the special care Autism needs, or they are convinced they can be "normal" kids. Not realizing just how brutal kids can be to each other, let alone when they realize they are easy targets due to their condition.
@@ricsim78 Yeah, I was diagnosed autistic myself when I was a little older but I still got treated really badly for being different. The boy I’m talking about isn’t autistic, but he got treated even worse than me
The BlueSpike thing is creepy to me because he had actual adults encouraging him to do this. Like, there were grown men and women telling a literal child to put himself in sexual situations with a mentally disabled adult because they thought it'd be funny.
apparently some of the people that took part in the lesser but still pretty bad things done to him came forward that they do have remorse and that a lot of them were young and edgy for the sake of being edgy and do actually regret it, I heard that BlueSpike was 14 and deeply regrets it now but that might be false info idk I might be getting names confused there were a lot of them..
I think "healthy life" is probably exaggeratory, chances are if people didn't obsess over Chris they would've still lived a rather mediocre life but they probably wouldn't have done as crazy shit as we saw. They'd just be your standard internet dumbass but nothing more.
@@mellowyello1478 Yea, it's clear her parents enabled her bad behavior to go on. I will agree she would live a *better* life had she not been targeted on the internet but he was raised to be an entitled narcissist by entitled narcissists, she was never going to stop becoming one unless she got genuine psychological help.
Honestly: I disagree. Look at his childhood. His family raised him in the physically worst way possible. The worst combination of coddling and abuse you could ever get, awful teachers treating him horribly, all leading up to someone who thought he was the center of the universe. Could he have overcame this? Absolutely. This is no excuse for anything he did, nor is it to minimize what the internet did to him. But Chris was already on rocky ground when the internet found Sonichu.
I don't think so. They were already excessively creepy with Megan at the beginning etc. They already had tons of mental issues, that should have been taken care of. I think that with or without the troll, they would have ended in prison... I studied the question a lot. And even without any troll involvement, there was already some creepy hints about them and their mother... So Eh... Don't get me wrong, the troll didn't help at all, and we're literally obsessed creeps. But I think Chris was doomed from the start. So the footages of them as a kid are always sad to watch...
Chris chan is one of the many examples, like Etika and that one discord kid that commited suicide, that the United States and the internet does NOT care about mental health. EDIT: I mentioned Etika and chris chan in terms of mental health, not in terms of whose evil. Im not trying to dehumanize either of them.
For the discord kid, i think he posted an image showing him about to jump off a building and said "bye" , and his friends (or server members) told him to jump or do it. I forgot what it was but it proves how mental health gets brutally ignored. Its sickening.
Chris' upbringing by his worthless parents and also local law always giving him a slap on the wrist is what caused him to fail. The trolls did their part, but a lot of Chris' actions are his own.
@@Brabbs thats the thing. most people assume it's a joke. and this is the price paid. it's why i ALWAYS take suicide threats deathly seriously. i legit dont wish it on anyone, even my worst enemies. mental health needs to be taken more seriously. people need to stop using it as a joke. we need to stop shaming people who admit they need help, and we need to encourage people who need help, to SAY they need help. id have stopped him. i'd have asked "are you joking or being serious." he probably wouldve said he was being serious. at which point i'd tell everyone to knock it off and i'd try to comfort them. hell, i can BE that friend they desperately needed. cases like this happen all the time, and it truely speaks to the apathy people have when under the cover of anonymity. it's like being drunk, all inhibbitors are just... gone.

Chris Chan is a story with no good guys. Except for Megan, she didn't do anything wrong. Edit: Snyder too, he was just a store owner acting completely in his rights.
Little comment about Bluespike: he did come out of the woodwork a few years back and admitted that he deeply regretted the stuff he did with the Julie saga, if I remember correctly he even talked about going into therapy because of the guilt he felt. Does not justify what he did, nor does the fact that he was a kid at the time, but there is atleast some growth in a positive direction.
I cannot believe that was really the same person. If it was maybe he was simply trolling again. Someone with that degree of sadism, at such a young age, doesn't have the capacity to care about being a bad person.
@@lucydayLucida It should be noted that as a 14 year old kid in the worst part of the internet, Bluespike would have been more or less egged on too by the action of his online peers. The truth of Chris-Chan that people don’t like to hear is that many people were egging him on behind the scene, whether to chase internet sweethearts or to react to Clyde Cash. Remember, being outwardly angry takes effort, and Chris hates effort. You and I are more susceptible to being assholes when the people around us are, especially as adolescents. This doesn’t excuse what Bluespike did, but painting people as this black and white is dangerous. Anyone who thinks they are morally infallible are often the people capable of doing the most harm. You probably had some cringy moments in your life too, and honestly? Maybe Bluespike is autistic too.
I’m convinced the schizophrenic state Chris has fallen into is from the trolling. They strategically stroked his ego to manipulate him, constantly harassed him both online and in public, fed him numerous strange ideologies using his gullibility, and ultimately documented everything they could on him. It’s no wonder he’s got delusions of grandeur, severe paranoia, magical thinking, and feels everyone knows everything about him and that he’s a goddess.
I feel like the Idea Guys, particularly, did a lot of damage. Chris was actually starting to settle into a somewhat normal routine before they got involved. They didn't readily respond to new trolls, they were actually seeking professional help with gender transition and would have likely been put in touch with a psychiatric professional soon, and there was even a good chance that they could have profited from their Internet "fame". On top of that, a real woman got...actually kinda obsessed with Chris not long after. It's hard to say if that would have gone anywhere, but it's clear that Chris had genuine supporters for the first time in their miserable life. Then, Wise got in touch with Chris, and things fell completely apart again. Jokes that they couldn't possibly have come up with started to appear in Sonichu, and it became clear that they were beginning to believe bizarre and harmful things. Chris-chan always had a loose grip on reality, but it completely broke once Wise, Boyd, and their unknown co-conspirators (there was one from Canada, and another totally unknown who named theirself for a high-ranking SS official) got in touch with them. Like this video points out, I doubt that Chris would have ever committed incest without believing they'd been told that it was okay by Jesus. Chris spent a significant portion of their time incarcerated in a mental institution, and I don't really know how people totally ignore that. Chris-chan was never going to lead a normal life, but I honestly believe that they could have been happy and relatively healthy if Wise and Boyd hadn't gotten involved. The two badly needed to suffer actual consequences for their actions.
I agree with most of your guys thoughts but I’m not so sure Chris slept with barb solely because Jesus gave him the ok. For years in numerous videos Chris has made super strange and sexual comments about his mother, and she herself reciprocated the strange relationship with her own weird closeness and interactions with Chris. I think it’s more likely that Jesus giving chris the green light was more of an excuse for Chris to finally do something he’d wanted to do for years than the sole event that planted the idea in his head to sleep with his mom and made him do it
This story makes me thankful my family moved to a small town that really took care of autistic and disabled kids and everyone was super nice to my brother and one time he got shoved into a locker and my friend confronted him and scared him so bad no one ever messed with my brother not that many did but I am so thankfully my brother had so many supports. Now that he’s older though and constantly on the internet I get scared and worried and what could be going on. I wish people weren’t so terrible to people who have disabilities and are autistic.
Man, you’re gonna hate this villain I had created and probably gonna like the hero because your friend who stood up for your brother sounded like my hero.
Slight correction 19:27 -Chris humped his sex doll, but the trolls were able to take a screen shot (because Chris sent the video to them), turned it into a postcard and mailed it to Bob; 2. The computer in which Chris used the internet was their hoarded kitchen (because where else would they put it?). Chris was yanking it during chat, and that's when the trolls were calling Bob about the suicide. Those are two separate instances.
Yeah, and to be totally fair to Bob... He immediately tried to take their internet access away. That's how he became the internet lumberjack. I think they got online using their PSP right after.
@@torakokoneko Yes. Bob took Chris' PSEye (a PS2 camera), and that punishment didn't last as Chris still communicated with the trolls with his PSP. Stellar parenting.

I personally view it as a borderline lovecraftian hellscape because of the fact that the behaviors that show up in cyberspace quite often spit in the face of everything holy, and gives a middle finger to logic while mooning reason. If you think that description makes no sense then good that’s the point because the internet was supposed to usher man into a new golden age with all the knowledge of humanity at its fingertips but it developed into a horrifying mess that’s hard for people to actually comprehend in its entirety.

Luckily for Bluespike they not only never found out but he greatly reformed as a person. Hes like 20 something now and desperately wants to put his past behind him, and he deserves to.
Part of what makes Chris so interesting is how many people see a little of themselves in him. They hear about what Chris' life was like prior to the trolls. They hear about how little of his family wanted anything to do with him. They learn he could have got help but Barb talked Bob out of letting him get what he needed. They hear about how fleeting his "friends" were. People learn about him and think about how differently Chris could have potentially turned out, how similar one's own self could have turned out to Chris.
One thing not mentioned in this video is that Chris's parents were old by the time he was born, so they didn't understand the damage being inflicted on Chris by his unsupervised use of the internet. They really should've gotten rid of his internet use. Chris also should've been medicated since childhood to help him focus and live a somewhat normal life
Chris's parents should have put Chris into a special school, but they didn't. Because they were afraid that Chris would be institutionalised and they had an idea of what being institutionalised would have been like.
There’s a saying that there are no heroes in Chris Chan’s story, only villains. I wouldn’t call Michael Snyder, Mary Lee Walsh or Megan villains, but the rest of the CWC extended universe and trolls are all lolcows in their own right. I wonder if Blue Spike, the Idea Guys etc were also abusing animals and doing other heinous acts similar to what Isabella Janke did, but we just never found out about it. I’d hate to find out how Blue Spike and Josh “Idea Guy” Wise treated people irl.
Blue Spike and Idea Guys harm Chris in a Physical and Mental way While I do agree with you that there are no villains in the CWC story One stood out to me was Alec Benson Leary and the Asperpedia Saga Alec trolling scheme is unlike any other troll. Alec was very calm and patient with Chris by explaining how the legality and the real world works and that Sonichu will not be a Successful franchise. Alec was basically the ideal father that scolds Chris like a 10 year.
Blue spike admited to regretting his past actions towards Chris. It wasnt a big deal because he was an edgy teenager looking for kicks. Its the same with every troll who wants to feel better about themselves. But in the end, the story is chonicled
I don’t see Null as a villain also. He's no hero, but the financial management he tried to provide was very much needed. After the idea guys, Chris got to a point where he could lose his house. Null at least prevented Chris from being scammed by trolls again, didn’t feed the whole "characters are real" delusion and tried to make plans for the following years, considering Chris' future after Barb's death. Chris' situation could have been way worse if he had lost the house.
@@NintendoDude360 Doesn't matter that he regrets it. I agree with Channel when he says there's a special place in Hell for him. He deserves to rot for emotionally abusing someone like that.
Honestly, the trolls are lucky Chris isn't competent enough to press charges on some of them, because there's probably a strong case for suing many of these trolls for emotional damage depending on where they live, as well as possibly getting them into serious trouble for fraudulent crimes, such as when Chris was coaxed into sending money or other valuable items, and heck even catfishing someone can get you into legal trouble. I feel like the blatant crimes of the trolls aren't talked about enough.
Right? It isn’t «just» cruel what they’ve done, it is also illegal in many cases. Chris rightfully had to face the law on several occasions, so should the trolls. Chris was (sexually) harassed, threatened, and scammed. I don’t care if Chris did the same, two wrongs don’t make a right. Where is the bare minimum of accountability.
Not to mention he met with sone of these people, and there was countless information about them online.. they were completely public and liable for targeting by law.
You know what, you make a strong point. Every time Chris move on to a new "sweetheart" the first thing Trolls did was showing them the ED page or other sick documented stuff Chris did. What are the chances they wouldn't do this to Chris's boss or something?
Most of the trolls bashing him for not having a job probably didn't have jobs either. I mean I am not surprised how hypocritical people can be these days towards Chris when it comes to the internet. I just really think we focus way more on this dudes flaws instead of our own flaws.
This was beautiful. You spoke my thoughts into life. They abused Chris-chan. I'm pretty sure Chris's perception of the world was warped by the things they experienced in life. That kind of stuff has huge potential to cause trauma, which I have no doubt contributed to Chris's declining mental health. Seriously, did they ever even get any decent psychiatric help? The Chris that exists now is like an unethical science project. The trolls took a vulnerable person and thrust them into a fictional storyline. Think about that. A significant chunk of Chris's reality at that time was constructed by people online. People they thought were friends/girlfriends were really just laughing at them behind their back. Liquid Chris literally had Chris believing that an impersonator was stealing their life; if that wasn't bad enough, people preferred the impersonator over the actual person. There's a lot to unpack when it comes to Chris-Chan. As you say, a Chris-Chan isn't born, they're created. You mentioned their hoarder home environment, their parents, there are dents in the walls from punches, and the parents clearly knew there was an issue as they didn't want Social Services to be notified. The trolls are absolutely responsible for egging Chris-Chan on and making their behaviours worsen. I agree that there should never be another Chris-Chan. As an autistic person, hearing Chris-Chan's diagnosis makes the whole saga that tad more uncomfortable for me. The general public already have a largely dramatised, extreme, stigmatised view of autism - partially due to the media pushing extremes because hey, moderates don't sell papers or get views. Chris-Chan certainly doesn't help matters in that regard.
I'd argue that Chris Chan is the perfect blend of nature vs nurture, his gullibility, naivete and mental handicaps were all exacerbated by his piss poor upbringing and squalid living conditions which resulted in an individual who never mentally developed into adulthood being given unrestricted access to the internet at a time when there were little to no safety measures in place in online spaces to protect people like Chris. I honestly believe that had Bob and known about the scale of the internet itself and the trolling campaigns that were targeting their son (both parents believed that it was a localized to Ruckersville and was centered in or coordinated by teenagers at the Game Place) that they would have cut off internet access pretty early into Christory.
@@charlesman8722 he never said he was a 'good' person. He was quite bigoted in his attitude and personality indeed. He was already in a bad household caked in litter and more. With a family that pushed their bigoted beliefs onto their child.
I'm actually glad to see this take. No one ever talks about how these people exploited a vulnerable person for years- Not just for laughs, but scamming them out of hundreds and thousands of dollars all while feeding their delusions in the process. Chris Chan is a Monster who is now behind bars, thankfully. But Chris Chan is a Monster that was fueled by the Internet. I genuinely think all of this could have been avoided if either of his Parents just took away the Internet? Who knows. Their story is just the worst ending possible tbh
Hundreds of thousands of dollars? It was six grand, and none of that had anything to do with the original trolls, that happened in 2017. Hundreds of thousands, where the actual fark did you read that?
Nope Chris was destined to be a horrible person even before he became infamous on the internet he was a terrible person he kept trying to push his relationship with Megan who just wanted thing platonic. Dan Schneider of the Game Place tolerated Chris for a long time despite his homophobia and racism to black people along with hogging screen time. Heck Chris was initially banned from his community college do to be homophobic. So even if Bob choose to Never pay for internet access he and Barb had still raised an incredibly horrible child who would have eventually done something fucked up and considering how Chris admitted that the comic she came for CWC was written to let out some urges he had for Megan because if he didn’t he might act out on these urges with Megan.
As an autistic individual I am greatful that I had and have a network of adults who had given me guidance in how to handle social cues and how to see if anyone is trying to trick me into doing things or something similar. Although I had been manipulated or tricked into things still, I could have easily been in a far worse mental state than I have now. After starting high school, things became much easier, like starting friendships and getting along with other neurodiversed people. Even though the parents or other adults are trying to teach people with autism about life, it is still a chance that they still need support in life as an adult when it comes to complicated things like when the trolls do like they did to this Chris Chan. It is still not always easy to read people's behavior in every way, unfortunately. I at least admit, it is not easy to rely on new individuals out there, trust can be an issue after learning that I had been manipulated or bullied in childhood. People tried to convinced me into think that I had not been going through those things when they talked about their experiences when they were bullied and so forth. They used my words against me many times, it's not fun to see how Chris were trolled to the point of breaking point.
The fixation some people have on Chris Chan has always seemed deeply unhealthy to me; lolcow culture in general, really. You've put it really effectively here: people are just using whatever excuses they need ("It's just for a laugh!" or "This person actually deserves it!" or "I'm not responsible for what they do") in order to exercise ableism and cruelty. This will definitely open some eyes and hopefully help people on the internet be more reflective of their actions towards others, because there's really no excuse for this entire situation. None of this should have happened, and it honestly sickens me that people STILL want to exploit this situation or situations like it for the sake of cheap humor
Speaking of, the lolcow community might be high-key ableist. Many of these cyberbully victims, just gonna call it what they really are, turn out to be mentally handicapped in some way, with cruel people trying to force a reaction out of them for views. It's disgusting.
I do wanna point out that there was ONE thing that the Chris before the critical trolling eras did that I wouldn't pin on trolling that was not pointed out: Chris and Barb deliberatly running over a game store owner in a parking lot because Chris got banned for harassment. That was entirely a result of his own actions and his parents upbringing. Just wanted to point that out before going on to what I really wanna say. Wanna focus on his folks for a bit cause I can't say anything about the trolls that Pup hasn't masterfully said in this video. Chris is an example of why mental help matters. Chris's parents, at least in my opinion, didn't seem to want Chris to go to a special school out of pride. Hard to believe they'd simply want him to learn to live in a normal school while also not looking for outside help. they didn't want to admit the fact they had a kid with a mental illness. They wanted to have a docile Chris free to spend funds rather than actually put the effort to teach him manners. My message is the same as Pup towards the trolls: They deserve for their actions to haunt them forever because of the horrible things they did. But also this and I feel even people not like Chris need to hear: *There's no shame in accepting mental help. It doesn't make you weak. it doesn't make you different. It doesn't make it that you're wrong of doing so. Even people with no mental handicaps, seeking help for one's mental state is not a failure of an individual. Thinking like this is what lead parents like the Chandlers to not give the help their kid needs and is the reason why people in the internet think is better to ridicule and abuse someone with a disability thanking them aid.*
In the USA, therapy is unaffordable and most insurance plans cover it in name only. Thousands of people would love to get help and don't have the option. That's why there are so many mentally ill people not getting treated.
It's worth noting his parents came from a time where "special schools" were beyond abusive, so there was very likely more than just pride there. Don't get me wrong, I was raised by emotionally checked out hoarders myself and I know they weren't making good decision as parents, I just think that added context is relevant.
Can I say how ironic it is how the trolls claim it's okay to troll Chris because "he's a racist and a homophobe" when the trolls aren't any better either? There was one time when a troll impersonated a black man while voice calling with Chris, and he talked like a caricature of what black people sound like in cartoons; and in other instances they forced Chris to say slurs on camera as well as force him to admit he was homosexual even when he wasn't at the time, Chris of course tried to get around them on various occasions by mispronouncing the words they wanna hear but the trolls would force him to redo the video with the actual slur or false confession in place.
This video almost made me cry. As a person with autism who was bullied very similarly in school, people trying to get a rise of me and such, I think it’s fair to say that the harassment of Chris Chan was definitely built on ableism. Now I hate Chris Chan and they definitely had a hand in making autistic people look terrible, but so did these trolls. The hateful things Bluespike said to Chris while publicly humiliating them will never leave my head and made me realize that people simply hate us for something we can’t control. I stim, I have sensory issues, I have hyperfixations and very high anxiety. I’m sorry I can’t change that but it’s who I am, what I was born with and all I can really do is learn how to better manage that.
I have ADHD and am also queer and since the diagnosis, since finding out I'm queer, I've realized that sometimes, bigotry runs so deep in a person that, no matter what you say or do, they will never like you, and it's not your fault. People like this are a symptom of a systemic problem. There's no point in trying to please them. Things won't change until there's societal changes. The one thing you absolutely can do is be yourself, as much as you can, and keep the people who can accept you as close as you can, for as long as you can. Your existence is proof of the diversity of life, and those who choose not to accept you, are only hurting their own growth in the long run.
Excuse my directness and/or poor phrasing, but genuine question. What is the system that causes the issue, the required change, and the pros and cons of said change?
I wish it would be done to strictly legit horrible people who had definitly chances to know etter and refuse, which chris, never did. I dont say domnt troll, but can you be vry sure that the person really is, like rowling i fine for example, she is rich, any ability and doubled on any tries, she is a fine. (if never threaten or say people should off themselves or that stuff)
Not to play devil's advocate. I dont believe all of what happened to chris is solely the trolls fault. Before online chris had been heavily racist, homo/transphobic, and had sexually assaulted women ( s/a can be considered touching with the intent of being perverted ) Chris has done a lot without the trolls help. The trolls however had pushed his behavior to the extreme, it was insanely gross for what they did especially bluespike.
I agree. Chris could've solved all of this with one push of the power button. At the end of the day. Autism aside. He chose to put himself on the internet. He kept putting himself online. This is his making. The trolls didn't make him act creepy. Or be a lazy jobless person with a tugboat. Or not try to actually do something with sonichu. Yes sonichu is a copyright nightmare. But he chose to ignore people's warnings. And the Alec saga showed hes not willing to work on it. Its his parents yes. But he still chose to interact the way he did. Heck look at the Adam Stackhouse and the blue arms thing. That was all him. No trolls.
@@TheWolfie234 I mean with that logic, the trolls are at fault because they could of just ignored him or even actually tried to be decent and show Chris a better way
Had Chris had some parents who were willing to tell him off for doing it then it may have stopped. But they didnt, Chris could have been working in a gamestop until they were in there 60's but instead they are in jail
Thank you. Over 10 years years ago I tried to explain to a ChrisChan "enthusiast" friend of mine that his obsession was exploiting a mentally ill person, and his voyeuristic attention was contributing to his bad behavior. He didn't get it. People are monsters.
Chris was a creep on women, had maladaptive tendencies, was lazy, got constantly in trouble with the law on his own accord and could have just had internet access cut off so I do pity him at all. This fails to mention the trolls and people who tried to help him in his life but rejected it because he didn't like it and wasn't forced to change
@@opadrip the gaslighting and harassment isn't justified but the only way his trolls messed with him was the Internet. If he lost his Internet access, he'd likely been way less crazy.
I don't know what else to say. Just the fact that the trolls (and his parents to an extent) very likely contributed to the person Chris is today is just insane. This should have never happened. They literally ruined his life! I don't even care if he wasn't the greatest person in the first place, being a contribution to who Chris Chan is today should never be something anyone should be proud of. I hope that these trolls have changed as people.
Liquid Chris at least has divorced Kacey and has become a cancer research doctor. Which is more than all the other trolls who are most likely still living in their mother's basement
@@englishgiraffe2124 he was arguably probably the most harmless. I think he still did some damage, of course. Anything that will mess with Chris chan's perception of reality will cause damage, but, comparably, he's much better than most. It also seems he has moved on and made himself into a better person overtime.
@@alvamind5286 When Liquid left for the first time to focus on studies, I think he would've stayed gone, if Kacey wasn't in the picture (she's as bad as BlueSpike imo)
@@alvamind5286 Like Mutahar once said in a video about Chris Chan, everyone in the Chris Chan universe is a loser. I do hope liquid Chris reflected somewhat, even if it’s “harmless trolling.”
Even if Chris wasn’t trolled, he would still have done some really terrible stuff, like running over Micheal Schneider and being creepy towards women. His parents failed him by not getting him the proper help, if they were decent parents, Chris could have had a good life.
@Duke of Lancaster His being a virgin until his 30's is because he was a creep to women who only sees women as a replacement mother and receptacle for his baby gravy.
@Duke of Lancaster people arent blaming him but holding him accountable for his actions.. just because he has autism and has been ridiculed online, doesnt mean its okay to harass people in society
It genuinely sends shivers down my spine that people did all of this stuff to Chris... To get a laugh. What Chris has done is despicable, yes, but IMO what these trolls did over the years is indefinitely scarier and worrying. The thought that monsters like these just roam around in the streets is terrifying to me.
I could say the same about wings trolls too. They are much worse than him in many ways yet people praise them like they are just disgruntled fans who want to see him do better. People need to stop praising the trolls as lolcows as saviors because most of the time they are just as bad as the lolcow in question.
you know, chris chan wasnt a great person, but the trolls went way, way too far to push him over the edge. to troll is a dangerous game, one must be careful. because he who fights monsters can end up becoming one themselves. never to this extent. never to this extent...
Well, the thing is that when you watch these "comprehensive history" documentaries about Chris-Chan, you already know how it ended and that Chris-Chan was actually autistic/mentally impaired the entire time. When it was actually happening, no one had that hindsight... for the longest time there was a huge chunk of internet who believed that Chris Chan was a troll, and it became a challenge to prove it. _"There's no way in hell this guy is for real. No way"_ Back then, when I was teaching myself English by reading websites like Encyclopedia Dramatica, SomethingAwful or 4chan, when I was following the Chris-Chan early to mid saga, I genuinely thought (I'd guess a good chunk of people who only knew the surface level stuff did too; only the balls-to-the-wall nerds who followed the saga like a TV show were disputing that) that Chris-Chan was a racist, homophobic, character some genius troll was playing. With every saga came the videos to disprove that Chris-Chan was for real; like the video of him smashing his PS3, it was commonly thought to have been faked, like many of his other antics. Then year after year after year it became clearer and clearer that it wasn't the case, and that's when things degenerated... with Chris-Chan getting extorted and talked into doing weird sex stuff by edgelords. I guess it's just weird to see people doing historical documentaries about stuff I was part of as a young teenager, makes one feel old. Internet seems cyclical like that, we went from "edgy is cool" to "edgy is lame" over the course of the CC Saga, and internet is now waaay more into positivity, and it was a change that had to happen . Every youtube channel was basically "Why this movie and that manga suck" Now the successful channels are the "Why this movie/manga saved my life" type, and it's awesome, we had ran the cynicism stuff into the ground, we've been in the good vibes era for a few years now.
If Chris would only learn how to ignore trolls. But since he (yes, I am going to use this pronoun for Chris, since he doesn't respect the gender and only became trans to creep up on women of the LGBT + community) loves the attention, he kept coming back for more online abuse. He gets absolutely no sympathy from me.
@@icchampion5 yeah theres only so much damage done by the trolls. that said, chris was NOT a good person before them. but he wouldnt nearly be as monstrous if not for them.
I wonder if in 10 years time, the Chris Chan Saga will be in Psychology and Sociology textbooks. Chris is a reprehensible human being, but even worse are those who turned them into such a monster. They needed help, but it was too little and far too late
The worst thing the trolls took from chris is their reality. All of the trolls leaned into their delusions more and more until it drove them insane. It's not a joke at just how far chris is into this dementional merge thing. It's disturbing just how much they have deteriorated mentally. And imo the idea guys and the more evil ones could have never happened without the foundation that was laid by the 'lesser' trolls.
Chris-chan is utterly fascinating. Tragic in the truest sense of the word. From some kid who could've been anything, probably a really creative writer or artist, to an abhorrent monster. It's sad and the people who made Chris's life hell need to be held accountable.
How is that girl still walking the streets free? They confiscated all Chris' electronics and had to have gone thru the chats & all. She definitely needs to be held accountable cause she is a psychopath that will go on to harm someone else.
@@dragoon1090 willingly? You think someone who paid almost 5000 dollars to stop the torture of their own fictional characters does anything willingly? They are extremely mentally ill. It’s just easier to blame Chris rather than face the reality that they have been failed at every point in their life by everyone they’ve ever met.
The Chris-Chan community is actually full of like-minded individuals as yourself who don’t want history to repeat. In one video I was watching, I made a comment expressing how I was working on a comic inspired by Sonichu. The ones who responded told me to keep working on the comic and post it when I got far enough along, but to not post anything else, not about my life or the comic’s creation. They even told me that they wanted to avoid another Chris-Chan from ever happening.
The charges against CWC were recently dropped. Curse the people in the Virginia justice system who let him get away with it. My faith in humanity died inside in light of this.
You know, your commentary around the trolling culture of Chris Chan, the way they humiliated, harassed and meddled in their affairs and how they're searching for the "next Chris Chan" it sort of reminded me of the Brittany Spears episode of South Park, in a way
Chis Chan has admitted multiple times that they only transitioned to be more approachable by females and to get lesbians (as they are in his words, permanent boyfriend free girls). Affirming Chris is trans is a slap in the face to the whole lgbt community.
Watching old Chris Chan content is like watching The Clone Wars and knowing there won't be a good ending. I always feel weird saying this but I genuinely believe that Chris was nearly 100% a victim, from how his parents raised him, to his treatment online.
Huh, I guess it really IS The Clone Wars. The main character essentially being groomed and manipulated into turning into a monster by far worse people. Again, Pup, fantastic video. You really laid the facts down in a way I've seen very few people do. The objective "tell the story" type documentaries are fantastic, but taking a hot minute to explain that these things ARE horrible is very important in my opinion.
Well said. What Chris did was inexcusable, but the “trolls” are romanticized. It’s something that wasn’t okay and the Chris Chan Sega is dark and tragic.
I remember hearing about Chrischan and being more fascinated by the community rather than Chris . But I feel this story is a testament to how cruel humans can be and the dangers of being always online
As someone who suffered from bullying, I feel bad for Chris. He did something awful, yes, but the world really treated him like a joke. I am able to relate to his experiences, his temptations, but I have moved on thanks to medication. Looking at these people, and hearing about others who wronged in from the comprehensive history podcast's first episode made me feel sorry for him. Seeing people like you who show the real monsters in this person's life makes me happy, I feel like I have people to trust. Thank you.
The part of Chris Chan's story, where he invented a fictional world based on pre existing franchises, that he believed was real and a place he could go to. This all hit home for me personally, as I've had a similar idea in my head for a long time. HOWEVER. I already know that it's all fictional. It's nothing more than make believe, non of it is real or ever will be real. The closest it's ever going to get to becoming real, is if I ever write it out as a story or something. This idea was something that started when I was little, and overtime changed and adapted as I grew up and matured. It's nowhere near as...odd as Chris Chan's. It's still something I think about today, but only as something to take my mind off the stress of real life when things get tough. A safe space I guess. I just thought I'd mention this, given that I'm also autistic, and the fact that Chris Chan had a VERY similar fictional idea in is head was kind of a shock to me.
It's actually called maladaptive daydreaming and is extremely common amongst autistic folks, myself included, except most people who maladaptive daydream know it's not real and just imagination. It's pretty neat to actually read up about it and know you're not the only person that does that.
Same here. I also make "fusions" of characters. The reasons vary from AU storylines, practicing character design, creative inspiration, or just fun. Tbh I kind of worry this whole shitshow of a saga has given that sort of thing a bad reputation. In a way it fuels my self conciousness about how passionate I can get about my interests, how at times I fear it bleeds into obsession (I suspect I might have a touch of the tism.) But then I remember that at least I have a firm grasp on reality, the interest only feels so intense in my own head and I still know it's all fictional.
Thank you so much for making this video pup, stuff like this should be looked at more often. I promise you, this video, no matter how little, WILL make a difference
It's sobering how much online interaction can impact life. There's almost a cognitive dissonance sometimes to online interaction compared to face to face and a story like this just shows how impactful it can be and how it can be a dangerous gateway to some messed up face to face stuff. Just, damn man.
I got diagnosed with ASD at age 30 - something I could've done with when I was 13. I went through public school thinking I was broken, and was relentlessly bullied. To be honest, if it wasn't for my mom being an absolute technophobe and not having the internet when I was growing up, I may have been in a much worse place now.
People act like chris chan was just a normal saint and a great guy until the trolls got to him. Even during his "dates" with meghan, she describes chris as someone who cant keep his hands off of her. Honestly he woulda been an awful person without the trolls. People act like he was an amazing dude before.
I haven't seen anyone say that. What most say is the trolls were what basically signed him up for a life where he could never become better. Chris basically never had anyone in his corner to help. Most of the blame i'd say directly falls onto his parents due to the fact it was his mother that talked Bob out of getting Chris the help he needed at a young age, likely because she knew they'd likely take Chris out of such a problematic environment. Bob and barb prioritized keeping their hoarding a secret and keeping Chris with them rather than prioritizing his health. His ideas of women and how they should be treated clearly came from somewhere. So you have this autistic kid who's parents refuse to get the help for and instead choose to ignore or enable his worst habits. They leave him to his room to good around, after graduating they're fine with him not hunting for a job what so ever and offer no encouragement to do so. All this likely played a part in Chris losing his touch on reality at an early age, and then to what he did to Meghan. Chris at that time was already incapable of realizing the consequences of his actions or having any regard for another person's wishes because he got the idea in his head that he was supposed to end up with a sweetheart. He really believed life was like a tv show, that him and Meghan ending up together was inevitable, so touching her against her wishes was okay (I'll clarify I'm not saying it's okay, I'm describing specifically Chris' point if view) because eventually she'd say yes anyway. The thing is that he wasn't completely beyond saving just yet. He still could've gotten help after his falling out with Meghan, but instead was faced with trolls who only continued to further his disassociation of reality. Essentially, Chris never had a chance to be a good person because everyone in his life refused to get him help, and he was unable to recognize he actually needed help. Tl;Dr Was Chris a good person? Not really. Did the trolling help? Absolutely not. Was it the thing guaranteed he'd never be better? Absolutely.
@@JDH109I've heard that many violent incels have one thing in common and that is doting parents (particularly mothers). This makes them think they can get anything they want, so if it doesn't work it's the world that's wrong. Particularly the women because their mom gave them everything and that's how women are "supposed to work".
@@JDH109 Adding onto this, cause I see this said a lot. "He never learned from his mistakes," or "People tried helping him," comments bother me for the reason you stated above. These people would either stroke his ego or consistently troll the guy to get even funnier reactions. Then when the joke went too far, they'd reveal themselves to Chris as having manipulated them and their actions to Chris to then go on to say, "But this time is different cause this is serious." Chris is a horrible human being. End of story. But these people acting like they were doing anything more then harassing someone into insanity is absolutely ridiculous. The trolls made a horrible human being more dangerous with the attention they gave them. The story with Meghan should've been the end of that saga with the trolls when they realized this man is potentially dangerous and completely delusional. Instead they used it to justify a harassment that went on for well over what it should've gone on for.
Theres also a kiwifarms psychopath by the name of Isabella Loretta Jankee who played a role in the chris chan story as well as her own drama involving animal cruelty, SA, and many other horrible things
So I've been a sonic fan all my life, I have never really heard about Chris Chan in detail in my life until last year, Jesus christ this is fucking horrendous on every part, it's mental thinking about what these people thought was okay. Part of me wants to look more into it, the other part of me is fine with not being depressed by it. This script must've been hell to make and research, good effort on it!
And now Chris is out of jail, their charges dropped, acting like they did nothing wrong, not taking responsibility for their actions and still believing they’re Jesus. There is no justice in this world.
im someone who suffers with delusions and has problems with putting myself into fictional worlds and not placing myself in reality. its caused by trauma from a really young age and isnt something to be laughed at. i seriously truly appreciate your respectfulness throughout this entire video, it makes people like myself feel validated and accepted. chris may be an awful person but their past self was just delusional and misguided.
I want to add to the conversation since you mainly covered Chris's early life. Another bad thing people did was support Chris's delusions. There are so many videos out there of people encouraging Chris's delusions later in life. Chris would say Magi-Chan is sitting next to them and then asks the people around them if they can see him. They said yes. Another example is TheGamerFromMars's documentary. He let Chris "heal" him and spent so much time listening to Chris's go on about delusions while he's sitting there nodding his head. Stuff like that reenforced Chris's delusions. That's why I dislike any documentary or interviews with the interviewer interacting with Chris. Chris is a bad person, there is no doubt about that, but there were so many bad people online that spend months, YEARS, "trolling" Chris. I don't understand how some people can find the time to do that.
Thanks, pup. As someone on the spectrum, it breaks my heart to see this unfold. It's really unfortunate to see what has happened in this case. As someone who tries to see the good in everyone, it's heartbreaking to see what has happened.
If it's of any solace, I've been thrilled to see more people emerging and condemning the actions of the trolls. Good people are just quiet people I think.
Half way through the video at the moment but just wanna say I'm glad you're taking the more empathetic route, I feel like his recent actions have led to so much hatred people have forgotten he was a product of others actions, just as much as he was a product of his own.
An old friend of mine mentioned this and he seemed to feel that his parents are 100% why he became the way he was and I did agree. I think we spoke of it back in 2017. Its sad really this all happeend. The interenet made this situation even worse. I remember also Dillin Thomas used to cover Chris Chan quite a bit too. I don't remember the details though.
My life could have slipped into that self-obsessive dark pit of ego but thanks to refinement, humility, guidance, and finally having friends just before college, I can say that I was saved from such a life. Family was loving and rollmodel levels of wholesome, gaming was but an enjoyment that I did not see as actual reality, late friends at my prelude before college, my personal bullies apologizing, etc.
As someone who's transgender (ftm) it's hard for me believe that chris has genuine gender dysphoria, i'd say it might be autogynephilia but because it is chris chan i have no f*cking idea what's going on just a messed up individual all along
Its implied that he did it to get a boyfriend free girl. However ive heard both takes, also some people use Chris as an example to be against Transgender rights which is also interesting.
Small note: when I listened to the dad troll by Liquid Chris, I was genuinely surprised by how real it was. There was nothing he said that was out of character for a father to say, and while listening I thought "yeah, if Chris ever had a chance with anyone this would happen exactly like this - it just wouldn't be recorded". But of course, as one comment said in the 85 PART DOCUMENTARY, this story has no heroes, only villains. Liquid Chris was just the least evil one of them.
Liquid Chris is an oncologist now apparently. Imagine having cancer and you walk into your doctors office and it's Liquid Chris sitting at the desk...😬
Since I've heard this I've thought is this dude really the kinda person that should have such control over vulnerable people? He was more than old enough to know better with Chris and some of the things he did to Chris were exceptionally cruel and distorted his already fractured perception of reality and his significance/grandiosity.
Honestly a perspective everyone needed to hear, it broke my heart seeing everyone who knew of Chrischan just laughing at them, and relentlessly bullying them This doesn't excuse the things Chris did too, but thank god someone said something other than "Chrischan funny lol"
When you put this on your community post, I thought it was out of your normal videos and wouldn't be good. But after watching it, I'm glad you posted it.
Chris didn't have to be a victim turned villain, if he had gotten help and gotten a good friend circle that taught him how to behave and be normal when he was a young man he could have turned out different, instead his parents coddled him and never let him venture out there leading to his schizophrenia spiralling out of control and ending up in prison after the bombshell dropped that he did stuff to Barb
really glad someone made a video like this. The internet will break people down, and then when that broken person ends up acting out and doing something horrible, they'll use it to justify and moralize their actions, taking no accountability because they did it to a bad person, even though they actively helped to make that person worse. Really I think people just want to be bullies guilt-free.
Chris is no longer a Lol-Cow. He’s a Horror Cow. It’s almost poetic to see how if he just had help he could have been well influenced and changed for the better. But now he’s gone beyond Lol-Cow and is now something more. Chris is no longer just a joke, Chris is an in-depth warning to people as to show what happens when you don’t get help.
I’m gonna be real with you, lolcow culture is how we got here. They’re patient zero for it. And also the ugly endpoint. It wasn’t JUST that Chris never got help, it’s that their life was so thoroughly interfered with as a means of entertainment that getting help was never going to be a permanent option.
I'm glad someone made this video. What Chris ended up doing was vile. When he was younger, he needed ALOT of guidance to learn to behave in an acceptable way, and it would appear this never happened. But these trolls were so cuel

Chris Chan is one of those people you can't help but feel sorry for even after everything they've done. Yes they've done awful shit and they're not a good person. But they've been bullied, manipulated, are vulnerable due to their mental state and never received the right help nor will they reach out. Chris' upbringing was one thing but the bullying and manipulation they faced over the internet and their father's death not only sent them flying over the edge but also cut their parachute. I'm always in an internal conflict on whether or not to feel sorry for them. I feel sorry for them and they shouldn't have gone through any of that, however they also aren't a good person. This situation isn't black and white, it's very VERY grey.
People are always saying "if Chris had gotten the help that he needed, he would've turned out better!" Whenever I hear that, I always can't help but think ".... would he, though?" I don't know, I hate to sound pessimistic, but we saw plenty of instances in Chris' life where people tried to help him. There were times when people tried to tell him that his actions weren't acceptable and that he needed to take a good long look at himself and make some changes. Yet he didn't! It's like he was just incapable of seeing any flaws in himself and just spent his entire life blaming everyone else for everything bad in his life.
I saw a pretty good video explaining why Liquid Chris was actually “one of the good trolls.” He never attacked Chris. He only mimicked Chris’s arrogant behavior and mannerisms to burst Chris’s delusions of grandeur. Even before Chris was getting trolled, he thought he was incredibly talented and deserved awards and got upset when his art wasn’t awarded. This is heavily influenced by Barb, who insisted all his life that Chris was gifted. So the arrogance and bad attitude regarding men was always there. Liquid just mimicked that to show Chris how flawed his personality was.
@@ChannelPup he did this AFTER Chris made fun of liquid several times for his voice and appearance and drew liquid getting dragged down to hell for the trolling. This is all on Liquid's CWCki page. Please do more research.
he pretended to steal chris's identity, for someone who already thought cartoons are real, that kind of super villain behavior just made chris see reality more and more like a TV show he was in, I think liquid chris is partially responsible for all of chris's actions as a result because without him maybe he wouldn't think real life is a cartoon where people dress up like you and become your evil twin
Chris Chan was not a great person but I gotta wonder what kind of problems the people who obsess over her have that they went "oh yeah let me base my entire life around this one person and stalking and harassing them".
@@ChadDidNothingWrong Chris. Some people choose to use neutral pronouns (they/them) to refer to Chris because of his messy and confusing gender identity.
So this is not to excuse Chris Chan, there are so many factors like you said. The thing is there was a video that was really long and unfortunately I don't recall who's it was but I will never forget. After Bob died Barbara made Chris sleep in the bed with her. This was over 10 years ago I believe. I believe she abused him, maybe not in that bed. There is a reason though that Cole (her son from the previous marriage) holds so much resentment for her. She was very possessive of Chris in the earlier Geno Samuel videos. This isn't to say Barb wasn't a victim just that things aren't as clear as we all think. There's always things going on that we didn't or don't see
Chris Chan is someone that I looked down on a lot, but as someone who has autism, I kinda relate to them in some ways. My mother would take me to an inner city daycare where I would do activities and learn simple things. Chris never had that, and it upsets me that he was treated in that way. I’m certainly lucky to have the family that I have as I could’ve been no better.
Same. I have a lot in common with CWC but I'm lucky enough to have parents who raised me almost right and didn't allow me to upload too much of myself on the internet or talk to strangers when I was younger and more impressionable. I could have easily become a lolcow and tbh there's still time for me to become a lolcow but with a little bit of online supervision and discipline from my parents When I was growing up, I now live a relatively normal life and I'm not being bullied to death on the internet.
Chis chan would have been just a wierdo that lived on the edge of society if the internet had just left them alone. Chris is a cautionary tale about how long term trolling can destroy a person.
To the topic, Chris Chan seems weirdly like those old ai chat bots, they just become exactly what's fed into them. Any inteligence will become what it consumes, but most of us are lucky to have positive feedback loops that don't destroy our lives. I won't be surprized if I find out that these trolls don't have it much better than Chris.
When I watched those docs, all I got out of it was how far people will go to take advantage of venerable people online. Also a cautionary tale to why mentally ill individuals should not be allowed on the internet in the first place. I was sickened by every one of the trolls tbh. Especially Bluespike. I saw humor in the Liquid Chris saga for a while, but even that one ended on a sour note. Now that I look back on everything, there were no winners in any scenario and it's tragic. Makes me reflect on how I should conduct my own internet etiquette.
PART 2: th-cam.com/video/ism4rm7vHzg/w-d-xo.html
I aint reading that. How about you make a short summary?
I don't think they were monsters but they were undeniably neglectful.
the saddest part of this is that after Bob passed away, Chris only had the trolls to talk it through with
if he wasn't a total creep to megan he would've had someone to talk to. that girl seems like the only legit friend he had
@@flapjackpancake5486 Not seemed, she *was*.
Even bob seemed to be eager to talk to some of them (emily).
Cant blame him tho he probably had no one else than chris and barb
Though the trolls themselves would never admit it (though maybe some of them would), THEY were his friends.
They were just extremely manipulative, terrible friends. But the people you spend weeks or months or years talking to and interacting with are your friends. So when Bob died, of course Chris talked to a troll. Besides his family, they were the most important people in his life.
@@hecklejack7726 there was also another girl he made genuine friends with after megan known as the "wallflower". Sadly he made the mistake of showing her real name in a video, exposing her to the trolls to doxx, and so she cut ties with him
I've always said this: There's no heroes in the story of Chris-Chan. There's only victims and villains. And sometimes those two categories overlap.
Even Chris and his mom are both victims and villains at the same time.
The closest things to heroes where Megan and maybe bob
@@just_some_greek_dude megan doesnt really save anyone, all she did was stay out of Chris life once she realized how twisted he actually is. Bob treated Chris like his grandchild, spoiling him rotten and didn't get him some help. However, Chris might be Bob's best parenting attempt judging from the fact that his other children never came back for him
@@just_some_greek_dude I wouldn't say Bob was as bad as Barb, but he still just sat there and let it all happen.
@@reloadpsi yup! Those examples for sure
Barb was mainly responsible for the monster she created (Bob was only slightly better)
There was that one time where Chris wanted to go to a convention for the weekend, and Barbara literally threatened to kill herself if he did.
I feel like this got even worse with the “quiet kid” and “school shooter” memes. Like it almost rationalized bullying for the average kid in school.
dark humor
“He always had vocal ticks but now he’s screaming” is a genuinely heart breaking read.
BlueSpike was just foreshadowing far worse things later down the line, particularly the Idea Guys and Bella.
At some point they even told bluespike to stop. But I do agree that it is fucked up
@KrookedCarter so they were just stupid edgy teenagers
apparently some of the people that took part in the lesser but still pretty bad things done to him came forward that they do have remorse and that a lot of them were young and edgy for the sake of being edgy and do actually regret it, I heard that BlueSpike was 14 and deeply regrets it now but that might be false info idk I might be getting names confused there were a lot of them..
"...because they think it'd be funny." Literally sums up everything wrong with modern internet.
It's truly tragic, that if history had just been a little bit different, Chris could have lived a healthy life.
I think "healthy life" is probably exaggeratory, chances are if people didn't obsess over Chris they would've still lived a rather mediocre life but they probably wouldn't have done as crazy shit as we saw. They'd just be your standard internet dumbass but nothing more.
With his parents, he was sadly doomed from the start.
So
Eh...
EDIT:
I mentioned Etika and chris chan in terms of mental health, not in terms of whose evil.
@@Brabbs thats the thing.

mental health needs to be taken more seriously. people need to stop using it as a joke. we need to stop shaming people who admit they need help, and we need to encourage people who need help, to SAY they need help.
id have stopped him. i'd have asked "are you joking or being serious." he probably wouldve said he was being serious. at which point i'd tell everyone to knock it off and i'd try to comfort them. hell, i can BE that friend they desperately needed. cases like this happen all the time, and it truely speaks to the apathy people have when under the cover of anonymity. it's like being drunk, all inhibbitors are just... gone.
@@berniekatzroy This.

@@Julian-4 I haven't heard that, but I do not discount the possibility.

@@PeripheralVisionary even other trolls at that time admitted he took things to far.
Sure, the dimensional merge was always a troll idea and they tricked him into thinking it was his own.
I think it’s more likely that Jesus giving chris the green light was more of an excuse for Chris to finally do something he’d wanted to do for years than the sole event that planted the idea in his head to sleep with his mom and made him do it
The life of Chris Chan feels like a tragedy where almost every single character is unlikable.

Everything about Chris's childhood development and their time online was a recipe for severe mental illness. Ask any psychologist and they'd say the same thing.
Or just have some basic empathy. Whether Chris really was destined to be a rapist or not, they still shouldn't have been treated so horribly. There's no justification, and I don't understand why you seem to want to make it okay to do that to people.
Do you bully people in your life? Is that why you think their treatment was okay?

There are some "people" that deserve it. Cyraxx being one of them.
Really reminds me that “Trashing, bullying and tormenting people you deem as scums of the Earth, fixes absolutely nothing” .
But also this and I feel even people not like Chris need to hear:
*There's no shame in accepting mental help.
They hit Michael Snyder with the car in 2011, several years after the trolling started.
@@torakokoneko Fair enough. Still, I wouldn't considered something of a direct result of troling since Barb was just as involved with it as Chris was.
In the USA, therapy is unaffordable and most insurance plans cover it in name only. Thousands of people would love to get help and don't have the option. That's why there are so many mentally ill people not getting treated.
Is it considered a mental illness?
Alec Benson Leary genuinely tried helping Chris tho
Yeah and honestly, isn't trolling someone using straw men of black men just gonna make them more racist?
Chris Chan is a story with no heroes or good guys, merely greater and lesser evils.
No way"_
Back then, when I was teaching myself English by reading websites like Encyclopedia Dramatica, SomethingAwful or 4chan, when I was following the Chris-Chan early to mid saga, I genuinely thought (I'd guess a good chunk of people who only knew the surface level stuff did too; only the balls-to-the-wall nerds who followed the saga like a TV show were disputing that) that Chris-Chan was a racist, homophobic, character some genius troll was playing.
Every youtube channel was basically "Why this movie and that manga suck"

By the way, I should clarify that I don't think he's a good person whatsoever. What he did is despicable to say the very least.
The little speech around 17:00 was spot-on. Very well done.
Really? Huh, that's pretty cool to know.
LOL, I do the same! It also started out as a kid, but all my characters were ocs. Guess I should look into maladaptive daydreaming then, lol.
I don't actually understand why it's called maladaptive daydreaming. Sounds like an average daydreaming.
Thank you so much for making this video pup, stuff like this should be looked at more often. I promise you, this video, no matter how little, WILL make a difference
It's sobering how much online interaction can impact life. Just, damn man.
I got diagnosed with ASD at age 30 - something I could've done with when I was 13. I went through public school thinking I was broken, and was relentlessly bullied. People act like chris chan was just a normal saint and a great guy until the trolls got to him. Even during his "dates" with meghan, she describes chris as someone who cant keep his hands off of her. Honestly he woulda been an awful person without the trolls. People act like he was an amazing dude before.
He's Autistic, they could've castrated him to prevent dates
Tl;Dr
Was Chris a good person? Not really.
Did the trolling help? Absolutely not.
Was it the thing guaranteed he'd never be better? Absolutely.
So it's okay that they told Chris to harm themself and take advantage of their own mother?

Instead they used it to justify a harassment that went on for well over what it should've gone on for.
Theres also a kiwifarms psychopath by the name of Isabella Loretta Jankee who played a role in the chris chan story as well as her own drama involving animal cruelty, SA, and many other horrible things
Yeah, this is something I rarely see people bring up and I hope more people do soon. The people surrounding Chris Chan are almost just as bad as them
@@soobymsn1260 in a lot of cases worse than her
@@theletterm1787 absolutely, these “trolls” are just absolute losers doing horrible things harassing a person with autism. Not cool at all
@@soobymsn1260 Chris wouldn't have done half the crazy shit she's infamous for without those internet psychos screwing with her.
I think that's the Bella that Pup mentions in the video.
"There are questions of who will be the next Chris Chan?"
*Immediately shows Cyrax*
And now Chris is out of jail, their charges dropped, acting like they did nothing wrong, not taking responsibility for their actions and still believing they’re Jesus. There is no justice in this world.
Hes been in jail several times prior as well. Funny how ppl forget about how this guy truly is.
im someone who suffers with delusions and has problems with putting myself into fictional worlds and not placing myself in reality. its caused by trauma from a really young age and isnt something to be laughed at. i seriously truly appreciate your respectfulness throughout this entire video, it makes people like myself feel validated and accepted. chris may be an awful person but their past self was just delusional and misguided.
That's why I agree with the idea that "There are no heroes in Chris chan's story".
@Channel Pup yea, it dose help when you think about like that.
Half way through the video at the moment but just wanna say I'm glad you're taking the more empathetic route, I feel like his recent actions have led to so much hatred people have forgotten he was a product of others actions, just as much as he was a product of his own.
Lot people believe it was Isabel talk him into raping his mother.
Could you imagine going to the doctor and Liquid Chris walks in. My goodness.
Id high five him
Not exactly the person i would want as a doctor
I never heard someone compare chris chan to the truman show but know that I think about it the comparison is perfect
Dude yea I don't Chris Chan has dysphoria either.
Its implied that he did it to get a boyfriend free girl. However ive heard both takes, also some people use Chris as an example to be against Transgender rights which is also interesting.
Autogyephilia, for those who don't know, is a fetish some men have, where they derive pleasure by fantasizing being female.
I'd be like "YOOO!!!!!!!" 😄
I'd greet him like an old friend.
Maybe the amusement would help me get through it.
@@banditxavier2893 I'd have so many questions and none of them would be about cancer!! 😂
Since I've heard this I've thought is this dude really the kinda person that should have such control over vulnerable people? He was more than old enough to know better with Chris and some of the things he did to Chris were exceptionally cruel and distorted his already fractured perception of reality and his significance/grandiosity.
You never cease to surprise me, Channel Pup. I admire your wholesomeness and ability to self-reflect. Gods know we could use more of that right now.
Honestly a perspective everyone needed to hear, it broke my heart seeing everyone who knew of Chrischan just laughing at them, and relentlessly bullying them
This doesn't excuse the things Chris did too, but thank god someone said something other than "Chrischan funny lol"
These people have become way too comfortable with harrassing people without getting a punch to the face due to social media.
Preach! My guy, Preach!
Chris isn't a lolcow. He is THE lolcow.
Sonichu is gonna be a stain on the Sonic franchise for eons.
Not really. You don't relate it to anything Sonic when you think about it. Every time you think of it, you only think of Chris Chan.
The general audience doesn't really associate sonic with that, the negative stuff associated with sonic is stuff like sonic 06.
@@christosdoesthings or deviantart
When you put this on your community post, I thought it was out of your normal videos and wouldn't be good. But after watching it, I'm glad you posted it.
Glad I could surprise you. The animated dog and red aesthetic definitely didn't feel appropriate for this topic.
This kinda just became an angry rant after 15 minutes, justifiably so i think
I was genuinely pissed off. 😅
@@ChannelPupehh it’s ok,sometimes when I rant I just forget what I was so pissed about and then I start repeating my words but worded differently of of sheer anger. I could also totally understand why you would be so mad, the trolls (especially blue spike) were huge asswipes
This situation isn't black and white, it's very VERY grey.
it's only black
@@abstraction6212 bruh, he made tons of good points and you just ignored them, ALL THOSE GOOD POINTS WASTED
@@abstraction6212Gonna back that claim up? Or you just gonna stick with the L take-
People are always saying "if Chris had gotten the help that he needed, he would've turned out better!"
Whenever I hear that, I always can't help but think ".... would he, though?"
I don't know, I hate to sound pessimistic, but we saw plenty of instances in Chris' life where people tried to help him.
In the final Kasey phone call, he's heard mocking Chris' weight and appearance. I don't know why everyone always forgets that.
@@ChannelPup he did this AFTER Chris made fun of liquid several times for his voice and appearance and drew liquid getting dragged down to hell for the trolling. This is all on Liquid's CWCki page. Please do more research.
whooooooooooooooooooooooooooo caaaaaaaaaaaaaaaress
Did somebody really name themselves as liquid chris like this was metal gear or something
When are we getting solid snd gas chris?
he pretended to steal chris's identity, for someone who already thought cartoons are real, that kind of super villain behavior just made chris see reality more and more like a TV show he was in, I think liquid chris is partially responsible for all of chris's actions as a result because without him maybe he wouldn't think real life is a cartoon where people dress up like you and become your evil twin
also the jacob sockness wasn't a troll because he wasn't even trolling chris and was as bad as chris or even worse than him
Yeah, he was a genuine stalker to Chris, a crazy fanboy. To the point where Chris told Jacob to back off.
Chris Chan was not a great person but I gotta wonder what kind of problems the people who obsess over her have that they went "oh yeah let me base my entire life around this one person and stalking and harassing them".
At this point the idea guys, Janke, and the praetor are bigger freaks than Chris Chan himself.
Did the trolls makes it worse? Yes. Could Chris live a healthy normal life without them? No.
Chris has a lot of issues preventing him from that?
If Chris went to therapy and left the internet then he would lived a normal life
@@just_some_greek_dude No they wouldnt have - even before the internet in their childhood they went to therapy which granted them very little help.
Chris needed better parents. Bob and Barb just ignored all issues and enabled him.
@@MERNOXOPHLAM who are you talking about?
@@ChadDidNothingWrong Chris. Some people choose to use neutral pronouns (they/them) to refer to Chris because of his messy and confusing gender identity.
20:24 There IS no correcting Chris Chan. Everyone who has ever tried to help him or showed him any form of kindness has been severely punished.
Quite frankly it's not the job of random internet strangers to help Chris Chan anyway, that is a professional therapist's job and nothing else.
Chris was realitvly unknown until he was in his mid 20's. By that point it was already too late.
@@opadrip he had no therepist
@@SMCwasTaken But maybe he could’ve gotten one in his life. Who knows?
So this is not to excuse Chris Chan, there are so many factors like you said. The thing is there was a video that was really long and unfortunately I don't recall who's it was but I will never forget. After Bob died Barbara made Chris sleep in the bed with her. This was over 10 years ago I believe. I believe she abused him, maybe not in that bed. There is a reason though that Cole (her son from the previous marriage) holds so much resentment for her. She was very possessive of Chris in the earlier Geno Samuel videos. This isn't to say Barb wasn't a victim just that things aren't as clear as we all think. There's always things going on that we didn't or don't see
Most definitely
I have seen claims that she was faking her foggy mental state to gain sympathy points from Chris' audience and I'm not ruling it out completely.
Please do not say that.
You are not a Chris Chan, not even close. Chris Chan had many opportunities to change, but never did.
Chis chan would have been just a wierdo that lived on the edge of society if the internet had just left them alone. Chris is a cautionary tale about how long term trolling can destroy a person.
Either that, or he could have been a sexual molester who would devolved into someone similar to Jeffry Dalmer.
