“i think when people say, ‘don’t you need a man?’, they’re saying, ‘don’t you need to be loved?’. and we don’t need a man to be loved.” THIS
“ don’t wanna have kids like a normal woman “ they got some good patience 💀💀😹😹
Right!? Oh my god. “Normal woman” as if they are all abnormal
"talking about being gay is like talking about breathing" i really felt that
I’m in love with Diane omg
ikr
Yes. The manliest lesbian of the group.
She's so handsome
Love her
Shut up
They are being very civil and polite with this rude questions .
Also 1:16
This is why Lesbians are fed up, because for litiraly 35 years people have been saying “what about Men? Don’t you miss men?!”
“No we’re Lesbians, that’s kind of the whole point!”
Love
Tom
I'm a man and I am all for lesbians. My girlfriend is bisexual and as I say it doesnt matter at all about the gender. Love is love.
Diane is the trouble maker, you can tell by her Fonzie turned up collar.
Can these women get any cooler? No they can’t. By the way, i want to meet Diane.
Are you sure ? Diane is 35 years older now. …if she’s still around 👵🏻
These women were so ahead of their time
Um they looked very 80s, in their time.
"No, I just play Diane..." (3:18-3:19) 👍🏾
i want the full version is this the full version cause i want to know what they all actually said i bet it would be a profound look into how lesbians felt back then. I am DESPERATE for more lesbian content this was a tease.
How do I NOT click a video titled “Lesbians (1986)” without context
No but fr Diane is dreamy af here 😍😍
gosh, Diane is so dreamy .... sigh
Here's how super gay a guy i am: the whole time I'm watching this, I'm stopping the film to get a good look at that fabulous horse sculpture behind them all, and in what a smart room too!
Wow. These women have the patience of saints.
Anyone here from TikTok? 🥰
Yes
No dam
I enjoy how in the information box it says "Three politically incorrect lesbians talk about being lesbian." Safe to say, I think we FINALLY caught up with these awesome women as I didnt hear anything that sounded in anyway 'politically incorrect' (to the point where I´m honestly kinda disappointed!). it took us almost 40 years, but we caught up!
“normal”
In 1987 I joined the Army. In 1990 I was in Fort Riley. That's when I met Maria, she looks like Diane with the same personality. I am a Hispanic male. I met her, while preparing to deploy to Iraq. I recognize that she was gay immediately. No one else picked up on it.
Maria and I did spend some personal time together.
Through her.
I realized that being lesbian was just normal to her. Others did not see it that way.
Well I made sure she would be respected. Maria performed her duties like all of us. She would say "I am me and this is what you get. If you have a problem! My Mexican would deal with you" LMAO
I like Diane's approach, just like Maria's.
As a straight male. I personally see today's issues with the alphabet crew, As a joke. Just be you. Like Diane and Maria.
I always thought of Maria as an old school lesbian, legit, beautiful, solid, dependable and will have your back.
Before joining the military, my two bosses were lesbians we all made money. Great people.
God bless you all. 🇺🇲🥃
P.S I found this video because I wanted to find someone like Maria. So my girlfriend's daughter who is gay. Could see who I had the pleasure of meeting.
This new generation takes away from women like Maria. With so many pro nouns.
Just be a strong version of yourself respected and enjoy life. It's really short.
I guess I got lucky.
Complicated genders , transitions, roles and archetypes make this society sick , you just dont realise how much we need sincere and brave friends like you sometimes having a male freind is better 10× than females .
I agree with you. I'm a bisexual woman who's mostly into women. God I miss these old school lesbians. Actually I grieve for them. They are the ones I would love. But now everyone is into the alphabet soup and turning themselves into "men". Like my ex did. I'm not into that.
"no i just play dian"❤️❤️❤️
I'm grateful to the amazing lesbians who came before me on whose shoulders I stand 👊🏼💜
Wow I'll write that down
HellooooOOOOO sistas, sending lots of light and love to all luscious LESBIANS
As a total Kinsey 6 boy, i do gotta admit that that Diane, she's a hottie. . . I bet she was the Amy Ray of her day.
Love to know where they are now!
I found this longer film that was release in 1988 and features two of the same women and was made by the same filmmaker: th-cam.com/video/On6Y7Qhook4/w-d-xo.html
they cut diane off as soon as she was saying something real. "being gay is like breathing, talking about it is -" i know what u meant diane
Man...interviewer was so condescending...so typical of the times. Exactly, being gay is like breathing, it just is.
THOSE RED GLASSES, LOVE
They Don’t make em like that anymore … I hope

“We all have men in our lives!”
Man, that's the healthiest thing I've seen about lesbianism in a long time that I can identify with. Just normal people who can deal with it and are cool with it, not this toxic mainstream that is unfortunately much louder in the LGBTQ community these days than us people who are just like that and just want to live their lives and want be left alone because that's nothing spectacular. It's just part of life. I love them, I hope they had a good life, I'd be interested to know if they're still alive today and what they're up to
Yeah I was just thinking I can relate to them more than any women I've met in my life. I need to go meet some older lesbians.
The looks are right, but something doesn't seem right in the questions and some of the reactions. By 1986, _somebody_ (especially soft butches) would have immediately refuted the "don't you want to have kids...like normal/all women?" WTF? *Nobody* I knew--in the '70s _or_ '80s--was interested in having kids! And many of us weren't even especially butch. And it's ludicrous to ask such obviously gay women "Don't you need a man in your life?" There were posters or T-shirts that had the famous line "A woman without a man is like a fish without a bicycle." and that sentiment was subscribed to by many _straight_ feminists, let alone gay ones.
I think this was a ham-handed satire of mainstream interviews, thought up by some Stanford students. Not an indication of what was going on in the Bay Area or L.A. back then. I was coming out and in the lesbian scene in L.A. (and at UCLA for a bit) '77-'87.
“No I just play Diane” ❤️
These questions are so 1950’s! Totally clueless interviewer. Then again, that might be the point since much of the hetero normatives had no clue about lesbians in the mid-80’s.
we all have webers. God these women are amazing
I don’t reaalllly have a type but if I did, Diane is my type. Definitely my type when I first came out and realized I liked women. I mean my queer awakening was Tig Notaro so…
Ooh-the girl in the denim jacket is CUTE
Yirrrrrrrr they all so hot❤
GUYS GUESS WHAT
They drink from the furry cup.
I like so much lesbians
Some of these lesbians correspond stereotypes about them
I love this lol
I laurve this
"Lesbianism is the most vile and degrading of lifestyles."
?
What in the world even is a ‘normal woman’
Bien salut
❤
Loved this but something’s wrong here. …. Not one of these women is wearing a skirt !👩❤️💋👩👗

Or do you know that wrong doers will not inherit the Kingdom of God. Do not be deceived: neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulteress nor man who have sex with man
no one cares about sky dadd
Finally 💯 thanks 🙏
ugly stick?
Why is it all lesbians look like Chevy Chase ?
lol
all white 🙄
Look the part they do. looking all butch, so typical.
Nasty
Look at yourself
My burden? I am a lesbian trapped in a man’s body. My joy? I am a lesbian trapped in a man’s body. No freakin way I’m giving up one for the other.
Ugh I hate the questions that they are asking, but they are the most frequently asked questions. I guess this film is more directed towards the cis-heterosexual general population for education purposes, at least that's what it seems like. Nothing wrong with that by the way.
Circa 1986, we were still in an era of presumptions questions like those, based on the paradigm that heterosexual equaled human and all else was a “phenomenon.” Those questions were what people heard. It’s a sign of progress that people are not automatically presumed to be heterosexual.
