The original Spirit of Evil had a face for a torso! That's cool! 😮 It's very reminiscent of Go Nagai character designs like Zannin from Devilman & Danube from Mazinger Z.
I can see what you're seeing...but I don't think that was Estrada's intention...I believe the structure of his rough line art, and building upon it, creates those spaces that look like eyes! :)
He also kinda resembles Sauron from Ralph Bakshi's animated Lord of the Rings. But yes, Rick Estrada's original design is AWESOME, he looks like Pyron from Darkstalkers, too!
Oh, I agree, the uncensored ones where much more on point. And I know exactly why the redesigned version made everyone so unhappy. It created what I call the Salt Problem, from a situation that happened in the Original Star Trek. In a nutshell, it's a situation that is caused by something looking so completely unlike what people are expecting, that its identity has to be specifically called out in the script. By forcing it, the studio risked the childhood audience getting confused, and finding something else to watch. And that would have hit the studio right in the pocketbook.
I'm now reminded of a text based game for the Apple IIe. I've sadly forgot the name of it, it might've been a homebrew, but even though the Spirit of Evil wasn't a minotaur, it does fit how I envisioned one of the creatures.
LOL Perhaps, but recently I was watching the new Beavis & Butthead series, the one where Beavis meets "ffffFIRE" like the literal avatar of pyromania. Someone at that animation room just HAD to be paying cheeky homage to Filmation with how he looks c'mon th-cam.com/video/KXVdTT1Sis0/w-d-xo.htmlsi=w3U9aP-T9W1PkGga
You should re edit that specific Animated sequence to include the Last drawing of the spirit of evil...! In spite of how the antagonist looked in this episode, it clearly established He-Man as a cosmic level being. The spirit of evil clearly stated that his He-Man's power was equal to his own. We know that He- man had the strength to move mountains the moon, And even shifting and holding land masses apart with mountains on top of it no less, He man's power Reached the metaphysical plane when you can fight the Universal conceptual entity of evil itself to a stand still. What I would need a little more clarity On is when the spirit of evil stated to him that he could fight him for years and never win .Does that mean direct combat or throughout the years in different battles? We also got to see the strength of battlecat episode as well. Even though the spirit of evil was able to push battle cat back, it took a little bit of effort indicating that battle cat's strength is great in his own right...
To think He-Man could have fought against a muscular horned man who could have likely been turned into a figure by one of those Masters of the Universe knock off lines like Galaxy Warriors or Combo Heroes. :D Now I'm thinking something odd from the title of this video said by Mumm-Ra for some reason. Mumm-Ra: Ancient spirits of censored evil! Transform this decayed form to Mumm-Ra: The still evil, but not too life threatening super powered being! LOL. :D
@@cerealgeekTV I got it off eBay way back, before the cels got so expensive now. 😄 I don't remember who the sellers were but they had tons, from MOTU, POP, Bravestarr, etc. Mostly classic Filmations. 🤔

I wish they had used the shadowy design! :)
Always look forward to these every Friday 🎉
Many hundreds more to come! :)
"Secret Galaxy" sent me. Nice content.
And hello & welcome 😀

Good ol' text-based adventure games! :)
This was a great video! I would have loved either of those original designs! I would still love a figure of the version they used, however.
Sadly, at present, Mattel seem to be focusing on the most odd choices for figures...
First thing I thought of was Bruton/Pluto from 80's Astro Boy with that huge towering Spirit of Evil.
I can see that...:)
3:00 That's how our guy got so buff, he uses a Shake Weight! hehe :D
I see what you mean! :)
So, “Evil” ended up looking like Pizza The Hut from Spaceballs. Nice 🖖😅
Keep up the great work, James
That actually made me laugh out loud! :)

Yeah, I think when the Spirit says that he could fight He-Man for years and never win...he means continuously...in direct combat! :)
@cerealgeekTV in your opinion, who'd win in a fight, Horde Prime or The Spirit of Evil...?
@@gmughadam76 - I'm going to guess the Spirit of Evil...because he's technically all-powerful...kind of the ultimate evil! :)
The voice for the spirit of evil sounds cool, though.
Yeah, John Erwin did a great job - The funny thing is, he WAS voicing the character based on the shadowy design...NOT the fire monster! :)
