@@ClarkeMarek - I would LOVE to have seen a connection between Blackstar and Marlena...with it being revealed that they were both NASA astronauts at the same time! :)
I had missed The Remedy in my childhood viewings and remedied (ha) the other night. Man, what a great episode. There is a word that aptly describes everything He-Man does in it: piety. I can go as far as saying that, in the lights of recent events, the episode was restorative for my faith in humanity :)
the funny thing about Warlock is, an early episode of _Blackstar_ (Episode 2, _Search for the Starsword_ ) has Warlock's vocalizations being basically the trumpet-sourced Tantor the elephant sounds from Tarzan Lord of the Jungle , with all other episodes giving him the distinct grunting half roar sound he's normally known for. Whereas the Tactryl makes a completely different sound, akin to the eagle sounds habitually used in _Tarzan Lord of the Jungle_ and even He-man and She-ra. Which makes sense given the original Tactryl design.
@@cerealgeekTV well to be fair, once they got to the grunting roar sound (notwithstanding the 2nd episode being the first produced), they pretty much stuck with it.
Man I loved Warlock. A friend of mine had the toy at home and made it part of his MotU line up. Unfortunately the first time I saw this the toy was nowhere to be seen in isles where I lived and I was always very bummed about that. Fun fact is that I've never watched the Blackstar cartoon until much later but just because of the toy I immediately thought that the taktril should have been green not even realizing that this was a reused design.
"Has anybody seen Adam? He's been gone a while." "When did you see him last, your Highness?" "Well, Teela, it was a few hours before I sent the guards to arrest He Man." "He Man?" "We have evidence he stole a tactryl. Under Eternian law, that's five years in prison." "Maybe Adam did something foolish. He probably knew he was going to get in trouble, so he's probably hiding in his room." "FIVE YEARS IN PRISON?" "Well, Orko, it's not like we can ground him for life." "Speaking of grounding, Orko, have you seen Prince Adam?" "Well, it's kind of a weird thing, your Highness..."
I had noticed that at the time, and back when I was a kid, and I thought it was the same character, because I had watched it on a black and white, and on that you couldn’t tell it was a different color at the time, and this is News to me, and my friend who say that on a black and white tv also thought it was the same character too🤔💁🏻♂💯.
Are you maybe thinking of the green dragons in the Space Sentinels episode "Loki"? :) - The only reason I say this is that Warlock was actually designed FOR the Blackstar series, with the creature's design fine-tuned during some of the promotional artwork...
@@MRaadesign - As I kind of say in this video, it wasn't laziness...it was because the artists working at the studio, like Michael Swanigan (and many others), wanted to see what easter eggs they could include - Swanigan was largely responsible for a LOT of Tarzan animation being reused in the He-Man series! :)
Sadly, I've never found ANY evidence that Filmation were planning a crossover...I think when Filmation were done with Blackstar, as soon as He-Man gained SUCH momentum, they kind of moved on...
@@Grim2 - Oh yeah, that was developed up to presentation boards...but I'm going to guess that was mused over whilst work was being carried out on Blackstar! :)
Am i the only one that feels that Warlock's fligh patterns got recycled for Swift Wind? Well, ok, combination of Warlock and Silver from the Lone Ranger.
Yup...that swooping shot I feature, THAT was repurposed for a Swift Wind flight pattern! :) - Sometimes though, Filmation would simply rotoscope an actual flying unicorn...:)
Being a huge _Blackstar_ fan back in the day, and also a huge fan of _Tarzan Lord of the Jungle_ (relevant, I SWEAR!) as well as He-man and She-ra and pretty much every other Filmation property, I'm loving these videos soooooo much.
One of the highlights of a Friday night is one of these videos. Expanding my knowledge of motu and She-Ra. One with a very nice link to Blackstar.
Thank you for the kind words! :)
You’re a great content creator!
Thank you for the kind words - That means a LOT! :)
Definitely need to watch Blackstar
It's not a bad series and has some fantastic ideas - Sadly, it's not visually all that striking...:(
@cerealgeekTV I see, we'll I'll give it a chance thank you James
@@cerealgeekTV plus they only ran 13 episodes cuz it wasn't a syndication thing. But for its time, I think it holds up pretty well.
@@cerealgeekTVI really wish we could've gotten a full crossover between He Man and Blackstar.

I always loved the Warlock design.
Yeah, it's a crazily good design! :)
0:49 the Sword of the Ancients
Not on this occasion - That's simply a jeweled, highly-decorated sword - The Sword of the Ancients is rather different in design...:)

It's a unique episode that it's pretty much a solo He-Man adventure with no real bad guys so to speak - Definitely an overlooked episode for sure! :)
this explains why the Tactryl was called a "bird" in the dialogue despite the design.
Good catch! :)

Yeah, it's odd that Warlock's vocals did change in the series...I'm not sure they ever made up their mind! :)
