I used to race in SLORA about 25 years ago. C-mod M -134 and also had a E- mod M143. I bought the E- mod off of Brian N. Great video! Brings back great memories
I ran out of Michigan too. Ran with the Masons. Battle creek. 64 to 88. I OA. Mods. Alki before mods. Those were great times growing up. Came to Florida in 92 heard guy by the name of Eldridge. ( Marshall). Ended up going to the races here. My girlfriend bought me a Pugh hydro and Marshall loaned me an old RB class engine to run in 250. The only difference between when I quit in Michigan and started running here in Florida was we all hot older is all. Wonderful family sport to get into from the kids to racers in there 80's
I have Pete Helston's 0250 Mac Minnerilli that Pete made from two Mac 125 shifter kart cylinders. Took a billit block of aluminum on his Bridgeport machine in his garage and cut the crankcase. Crsnk was a Konig 52 mm stroke same as bore size. Deitert Konig always said 52 square was the best combination. It was installed on a Yamato intermediate housing and I ran a 12: 15 gear ( 350 gearcase). The boat is an old Gary Pugh hydro. 1985 I believe. Never designed to go over 90 mph. I ran out of lake at Banana Lake in Lakeland fl. With the GPS saying 98 mph and still pulling. My last run was 2005 at Lake whales FL. Great bunch of guys and gals to run with !. Pete passed away from cancer after a flight straight up in 250 hydro in Lakeland I believe 2004. He was a great friend of mine and I'd do anything for Pete as he did for me. He wanted me to have his engine to race as he never was able to whittle my crankcase before he passed. Rest in peace Pete. I will one day join you and we can race each other. Only I'm giving you back your engine !
Thanks for the video, I enjoyed it, and the introduction to them was great to, before now I didn't know they existed, thank you, all the best to yous and your loved ones
Ya Allan from Bigtrucks low bucks and a contributor on IBEX has seen i had bin down at Webb’s slough taping the sprint boats so he shot me the link to this! There were alot more boats the day before but this was perfect for an introduction for me.
Ran 98 on GPS in my old Pugh hydro with a 250 Mac Minnerilli and a 350 Yamato gearcase 12:25 gear ratio at Banna Lake before I ran out of lake and it was still pulling. Fastest I have ever gone in my days of boat racing. The rpm's were around 1250 due to tall gear ratio. And at lake whales in 2005 I loaned my 250 to Jon Eldridge and he ran with the 350's. After he blew up his 350 Yamato
@IBEX Off-Road Videos I dont go anymore helicopter engines wrecked it. We used to go tye up to the boom make a fake flag or just move when we got caught. They didn't care much in the 70s. 90s my folks had the prime house just north of the pits up on the hill. Sit on the roof n could read the bottom of the blue angle jets. House had cracks from that. I would pencil ✏️ the years on them. Got lots more. Paper boy of the Offenhousers saw hydros being built every day
My uncle in Florida use to race these back in the 80s and early 90s... he was in a bad crash that injured his back and ended his racing. I always wanted to get into it but my mom after my uncle's crash wouldn't let me lol
I used to make engines for O250 hydro. We clocked over 180kmh at Imatra Finland with our engine. The driver had a very severe accident in Italy and was almost killed, so that stopped the engine development. Really miss the sport, the sound of that screaming 2 cylinder boxer. We where very fast that season.
From being raised near water as a kid in SC. Seeing this makes me miss home. What most don't know about jet prop boats. Theyre trimmed specifically at high speeds. Because the downward force of its spinning prop. Becomes the only thing holding it in the water. Which is usually just a few feet of the stern. Otherwise it would heel up into a rearward somersault. Such as if it were to shear its prop off the shaft.
All the motors are water cooled. They're force fed by a hole in the gearcase or a pick-up tube. Some do have water pump impellers and you can run them for 15-20 seconds without water
@@Ibex- I actually watch when I can. I knew a friend that raced that got me started. Makes great entertainment. Just like the Watercress on Down River Days. Snowmobiles racing across the river for those that don't know. A blast to watch.
Teresa,,, Get ahold of THIRILBY'S IN TRAVERSE Citty Michigan. They are the go to people when it comes to making a Koing run!!! Ed is an old friend of our family. Hi Do you need some great lighting for your car to help you better driving, off-road? We're the pro auto lighting manufacturer for nearly 20 year and we're looking for sponsorship!
Such boat races would not be possible in Germany at all. 1. because of environmental protection: A droplet of oil could pollute the entire body of water. 2. the noise would shock the fish to the core, one would have to each Ask permission from living beings in the water. 3. It would have to be electric boats with a maximum speed of no more than 3 miles per hour, since then the oxygen intake would be less. You would have to apply for a permit 2 years in advance, because German bureaucrats work very slowly.
Haha your a silly guy. Some drivers are rookies and have to stay in the back for safety reasons which is why there not always grouped up in the start. And they continue to run the course after the race is over till all other drivers have crossed the finish line…again another safety rule.
Well i definitely had fun and will be looking for some racing this summer. This was day 2, I missed the first day where the serious racing had taken place.

Ah man that sucks.
Wow, such awesome crafts. How beautiful is that location too.
I have a couple videos of them racing Snowmobiles across that section of river too.
Thank you for reminding why I never run short course. You just get going and are forced to turn. Long course or park it. lol
all the action takes place in the turn ,no ?

111.8 MPH that is moving. There is risk with every sport :( .
@@Ibex- yeah I know, broke my back while racing

beautiful scenary alpine where are they
Its a small Town called Ione in Northern Wa

Surface drive outboards. "Who would have thought"
hi , Is it possible to find plans to make this boat?
Not sure where you would look.
All the motors are water cooled. They're force fed by a hole in the gearcase or a pick-up tube. Some do have water pump impellers and you can run them for 15-20 seconds without water
Learn something new everyday :)
@@Ibex- plus they were direct drive no reverse or nutral
Looks like a lot of fun😊😊
Always fun to have these races here every year.
First time seeing them for me ;)

big bass jumps out the water at 47:15
great camera wrk!
Thanks, was soo much fun
Awesomeness. I'd love to build one or 10. Do they all have to be the same length ,width, Hight etc ?
Im sure there are rules ;)
Sounds like 100 mph or is actually going 100 mph ?
Sounds like 300 to me
I just wish i could go back in time and race again. In 75!
hope watching helps fill the itch a bit
High RPM shore start props do cavitate to allow a warm up without full thrust then as they reduce rpm you see acceleration!
I am learning soo much about these cool boats.
Is that a Rossi or VIP ?
there are a few Rossi 300s
Вот бы такои в нашу реку юг. Мечтаю всю жизнь такой построить! Россия. Великий Устюг.
Was cool to see this
Stopped it at 00:22 because of that irritating noise that you probably call “music”
Lol its just the intro, i get creative on some of the videos because straight editing is boring and time consuming. What sort of music do you prefer ?
The music stops at 1:16

Well don’t see any hundred mile per hour boats here…sound great

Canada 🇨🇦 is almost that bad, as well insurance would be too expensive.

I never knew Germany was so strict about that. I always thought you had less restrictions there than us in the states.

Probably priced itself out of a market for racers like every other motor sport.

Turn your volume down, but seriously, they sound like the model airplanes my dad had while i grew up.
