@@Ibex- It was in NZ. The jet drive for a boat was invented by NZ'r Bill Hamilton in the early 50's for the purpose of powering boats up the shallow rivers of NZ's south Island. NZ'rs started racing them up rivers and it progressed to courses a couple of decades later.
