Hey everyone, with the final part released I'd like to thank everyone who is watching the series and a special thanks to those who have purchased the course available at blendermarket.com/products/game-character-tutorial-series. The complete course includes videos for download, detailed step-by-step tutorial notes, starting files and the finished character (or you could jump on the Patreon for a month, download what you want and then bounce). Happy Blendering and feel free to leave comments on what game development tutorials you may want to see next!
I got this far before I realized I have overlapping UV islands that shouldn't be. I've corrected it in Blender but I'm assuming reimporting the UV maps will destroy my bakes and I'll have to redo them. Will it also destroy the texturing I've done thus far, or will it be preserved? In other words, will I essentially have to start over the texturing process?
Answered it for myself. For anybody else who ends up in a similar position, changing the UV layout and reimporting does not destroy your bakes or texturing. Based on what I've gathered from the Substance 3D Painter documentation, so long as the UVs don't radically change nor the position of the model, bakes and texturing will be preserved on reimport.
That is correct. Go "Edit > Project Configuration" to select an updated file of your 3D model. Assuming the material name is kept the same, all the textures will apply to the updated model. You should still do another bake (which isn't a big deal) and then there might be a few masks on layers you need to adjust to account for the moved UVs.
I really wished you did this in blender. I really dont want to learn an entirely new program. Plus its a montly subscription. There is no 1 time buy. All of them went to monthly subscriptions which is a huge turn off for me. good work tho
There is a 1 time purchase on steam bit it costs around 200 euros. You can also get a student discount for the subscription which gives you a year to use the subscription without payment
... maybe they assimilated into human culture...? In all seriousness though it is a good question in design and world building. If the aliens had no knowledge of human symbols, what symbols would they use? And how do you communicate this to your audience if you want them to know this is the healer in a game?

@Harisiymo nah I'd rather learn it in blende. Which I am. You can get same results in blender so its not really worth to pay 200 at least to me
Why aliens use human symbols?
