      @@PGBlanks I have the Nokia 2660, a good flip phone, not the greatest, the 4g modem is useless, the Opera mini browser Also is crap, it has an expansion slot up to 32gb, Bluetooth a2dp is pretty good for connecting earbuds and headphones.
      Not a good phone for a primarily daily driver but a very good mp3 player with bt 4.2 a2dp and a good secondary phone to have outside to keep you less obsessed with smartphones. Sounds masochistic but it does work

    I remember on my old flip phone back in 2010 there was a parameter for the tiping of messages that was sooo much more fast : let's say you wanted to write the word "cat", you just had to press one time each button containing the letter you want, so in that case 2-2-8, and an algorithm would thin out the words possibility. The longer the word, the best it worked.
    Your videos on this particular model fascinates me, I love the approach you take and the multiples tries you allowed yourself to have. Besides, that is a very good-looking flip phone imo. Hopes this helps !

    Great points. I am really considering switching to this flip for detox reasons too. BUT, two big deal breakers for me are no spotify and no mobile banking applications. Music is the only way I entertain myself during journeys. I cannot read books or even look at screens for too long because I have severe motion sickness. I know there are music apps but manually downloading and adding music seems too much of a pain, especially if there are new songs I would like to explore.
    Coming to mobile banking, in the country where I live (Sweden), transactions through BankID are used everywhere, and many times to even verify identity. But I guess I can still depend on my physical card for payments, and use my smartphone for BankID.
    If these two features have a workaround, I would switch in a heartbeat.

    I use the Catapiller S22 Flip as an alternative to my iPhone12 (Many of its features broke after updating to iOS 16). I wanted something that was simple and had the ability to fully use all apps in a pinch. I use google maps and a browser for work nearly the entire time. Both work just fine using the touch screen on the S22 and I'm not hindered by it.

      i think you should regret your purchase because basic messaging and google maps were promised, but the phone didnt keep those promises. sluggish menu and contacts app is straight up inexcusable for a phone of this category - if you get any old feature nokia no matter how basic it is you would never encounter problems like these. also ive seen complaints about the battery and camera which again - nokia phones had okay cameras before, coming from a low-end lumia user as my last nokia also the brand is known for the loooooong battery life of their devices. imo kaiOS is to blame for the software problems since its a young OS and not an exclusive OS to the company therefore its not well optimized (the same way low end android phones werent).

    I tried the nokia 225 4g, it's s30+ not kaios and more basic, but couldn't stick with it and went back to my iphone. Just learned to have more self-restraint, deleted the more useless stuff like social media apps but kept youtube both for its usefulness and entertainment. The smartphone is the ultimate communication device and except for weather, maps and the inherent pda functions... that is how i basically use it now.
    But if there was just a modern, no bloatware, s30+ nokia e71 with that old premium feel and a physical qwerty in silver/grey, i would go back to an ipad for everything else and just have that. That's where I'd allow nostalgia to trump functionality. There's just an unexplained satisfaction that i got with the old nokia button presses that isn't present in the pre-5110 and later thin, plasticky feel E-series models.😂

    Thanks for this. Thinking of getting a feature phone for the same reasons as you.
    Does the WhatsApp app do voice messages? As I see this as a nice workaround to typing

      I think it's a bit expensive too be honest, for what you're getting, at least. Depends on how much you need the "smart" features.
      Cause the smart features aren't really implemented in a way that are helpful or user friendly IMO (slow and kinda buggy).
      If you definitely need the smart features but are just looking for a cheaper / lower spec phone, try an Android device in the same price range?

    • @PGBlanks
      @PGBlanks  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      There is a qr code scanner but it's very unreliable because this phone's camera is not good, so you will need perfect lighting and you'll need to be very zoomed in.

    How long does the battery last?

    • @PGBlanks
      @PGBlanks  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you have 4G on it only lasts 1-1.5 days unfortunately, so when I would use it I would just keep everything offline and it could last me like 5 days.

    Christ almighty what is wrong with people. Going on like giving up the smartphone is like a life or death thing. I have an iPhone SE 2nd Gen it spends 99% of time stuck in a drawer because it does my head in. I use the 2720 and before that I used a 12 year old Nokia 6303i. I work in the city and get absolutely pissed at people walking in to me or not paying attention because they are too busy gawping at this shit tick tok etc. I keep in touch with social media I have an IPad Pro 2020 with M1 chip that sits in my bag and I look at it when im sat down not walking down a street and nearly walking in to someone or walking out in front of a bus (im a bus driver happens all the goddamn time). How do you think we got by before smartphones? I started off with a Nokia 5110 no internet no Color screen no camera or anything like that.

      Unfortunately not as of the time of making this video, it's a real limitation for me as I would've loved to just keep WhatsApp Web on. There isn't a functionality to scan the QR code from within this phone's WhatsApp app.
