    I saved that truck from the scrap yard. I Bought it at an auction, towed it back behind my truck at 20 miles an hour on gravel roads for 12 hours. I welded in a new floor pan in it because that truck was mostly rust. I got it running again. I mounted a dump box & telescopic hoist on it. Hooked up a wet kit. I hauled 40-50 loads of sand with it on the property. Got it stuck pulled it out, used it to haul equiptment around.
    Like most people I cant afford to full restore a truck like that to new condition where it could be used in a commercial capacity. Nobody uses those trucks or engines these days. Farms are large commercial enterprises with new equiptment. Maybe 1 out of 1000 farms has a truck with an old detroit they still use & are probable getting ready to change to a newer truck. It is not enjoyable or a good use of my time to haggle with people over parts that they want for near nothing & need help to pull them out.
    I made a video about this truck.
    Seeing destruction turns to interest, interest turns into learning. And before you know it there are a few more people interested in 2 stroke diesel engines.

    You can always tell when the valve float kicks in as the engine starts to crackle. It still boggles my mind how tough these engines can be though.

    Bummer, that was a serviceable engine that would have run a long time doing work.

    Some people spend time lookin for f8 and 9000 parts and usable detroit parts . Some people have no respect for iconic Detroit parts and destroy them like juveniles, just to see destruction!😢😢😢

    Why would you do that to a good motor????

    • @manbuilds1587

      "Engine"! A motor is electric.

    • @jameswhite2198
      @jameswhite2198 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      You’re kidding me right??? I don’t care what you call it this seems wasteful to me someone would love to have that motor to put in something and we’re exit just tearing shit up just so we can get a couple views damn……,

      I had the same motor excuse me engine in a 76’ GMC and i loved it would’ve never dreamed of doing some dumb shit like this it ran backwards with me going up a hill with 16 rolls of hay on it and I killed the motor engine and let it roll downhill backwards so I didn’t tear anything up loved that truck would never have dreamed of doing this shit here

      I like 4-71, 6-71. Detroit diesels are great, I have had them in many machines. But they are old now & times change. The old diesels are the best, but who is gonna run them these days?? Maybe in an old bus or boat. Im in Canada, not much demand for them. I dont have the couple months to waste to find a buy for it down south & then ship it to them. Shipping cost more than any worth out of the engine. Would love to put new inhectors, new liners & stick it in a f550 or a top kick. But reality, time, money dont always allow for the things we want to do. So I gave it its last hurrah. Maybe spark some interest with the next generation. Without the runaway video's the 20 something boys & girls probable not even know about engines of a past generation.

      Bad thing is most young kids don’t care thank God for the few that do kids can’t even drive a damn standard anymore hell they don’t even put them in pickups special order and now they have a special automatic only CDL for all the rookie “truck drivers” have you ever tried an automatic transmission out in a big truck that’s in the mud???? That shit doesn’t work!!! I get the last hurrah it’s just sad
