    As someone who's dutch and absolutely loves Arjen Lubach, I'm very happy to see that he also gets recognition outside of the Netherlands. But a lot of the jokes loose its meaning in english, like the puns or the ones with famous dutch people.

    • @boeleleewens6106

      thats just because the translations are tricky

  • @MarcelNL
    @MarcelNL ปีที่แล้ว +44

    Shame some puns and inside jokes translate incompletely to English (Uber-haupt for instance), but still big respect again to who did this: I often am still amazed with how tricky things are translated so well!
    Ahhh hhis chinese webshop reference, took me a bit to let it sink in, but that episode was seriously funny!

    This guy is incredible. Very nice you translate it. And he always has a point as it comes to community or other issues. You probably know his item about America first, the Netherlands second and the parodie on Donalds slogan in the elections.

    Though those companies make big losses, their shares on the stock market grow, so investors make a lot of money.
    Be the first to buy shares in a successful startup and make billions. By the time common people start buying shares, the big ones start to sell. By the time the startup goes broke, the big first investors are out. And the common people see their expensive shares go down until there is nothing left. Because meanwhile another startup is pushing them out of the market.

    • @DKon3
      @DKon3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Sorry im a bit late Dutch Man, but yeah this is correct. Also, a company's value is determined (among other things) by their future cash flows. Now if Uber for example would be the only taxi service there is, they would make huge profits. So nowadays for many tech start ups (because in the end all the named companies in this video are tech start ups) just have to fight the competition to see who has the most funding, because that way you can outlast them. And once you have outlasted them, you are the only competitor, can increase prices significantly and get profits as high as the sky! What venture capitalist wouldnt want that?

    • @dutchman7623
      @dutchman7623 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@DKon3 Most tech start-ups will never make any profit. They die a quiet death because someone else has a better idea. Or they are eaten by a bigger fish, who in turn...
      Before they make any real money their share value has sky rocketed, and they end up in the belly of the big internationals who will absorb their market share, technology and patents. Not to use it, but to prevent competition.
      Microsoft, IBM, or General Motors do not produce the best products, anyone knows that, but are big enough to snatch all potential better ones out of the market before they get big.
      That is what investors are looking for, a nice fish that grows in value and is eaten alive.

    A tiny tiny pinprick counter movement to the Thuisbezorgd; I orderd through them sushi at a local sushi place. And with the delivery I got a voucher from the restaurant of 2x 5% of if I would order on their own website. Same service, same prices, but as a sode dish a little tiny f%*@ you to Thuisbezorgd 😂

      @gabybleeker ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I am from the Netherlands and I'm always doing that from the local pizza place. They have their own website where I can order with their own delivery drivers. They are a small Italian restaurant run by a Italian family and have bin there since I was born so at least 34 years. If you are ever in the North of Amsterdam across the IJ look for San Remo pizzaria.

      Truth! I used to watch a few others but stopped with them all. For music I still do occasionally watch The Charismatic Voice (Maggie Reneé unfortunately got too much TikTok-style in her reactions but she used to be fantastic!) and for movies and tv-shows there are a few review channels that I really love, but for all sorts of react videos, Combustible really is the best! Sincere, friendly, positive etc. No hidden agendas, no pushy personal messages about religion or political point of view whatever etc. Sometimes an honest insight, but he still leaves you in your value, no matter what your personal beliefs about the subject are.
      Also the crowd here really is positive and kind; no negative remarks to what others say etc.

    Lawyer here; you make money because you move your profits into a 3rd holding company. Don't pay taxes or anything because you move money within your own company. Such a company is like a tree branch. You go into the red; you can use that negative balance to get tax advantages. While your profits are in a different branch of your tree.
