The white fur looks way better than I thought it would! I was sceptical at the start, but I'm probably going to use this scheme on some of my future rats!!! Excellent video! I'd love to see more skaven, not just the models from skaven tide!!
I would say the white fur looks good especially for Skaven. I think the skeleton horde base coat helps sell the idea that at the end of the day this is still a dirty dingy rat! Can always appreciate undertones and complexity to white paint schemes
I definitely like how you went about making him albino, as I watched I was thinking maybe add just a brief touch like maybe a light drybrush of pure white if only to give that brightness to it, but then when you said you were going for mange and dirty it helped shift the appearance in my mind, maybe making the skin a little pinkish not a lot but that might help sell the albinism a bit more but that's just to my eye and I totally get what your vision is and you 100% nailed it Great video as always Andy very excited for the videos
I really liked the simplicity of this video amd showing that a great job can be done out of the bottle at relative speed. Theres a real approachable feel to this that gives confidence. I would say the oxide on the shackles was possibly not the right choice perhaps a very thin brown wash mightve been better as it doesnt read quite right. I wasnt sure how the fur would turn out midway but it looks really good.
That's amazing. I could see him being a member of the Albino Guard who failed to protect a Grey Seer and got sent to Moulder as punishment. Definitely want to see the Jezzails. I'd like to see more people paint Iron Thanes from the Stormbringer magazine.
Cracking scheme! Yeti big rats are cool. I’ll be doing this scheme when I get my box. Cheers hope the videos do well as I’ll be looking forward to them all 👍🏼
The Rat Ogre looks amazing, the colors really helps make the model stand out! Honesty I would love to see you paint up the Lord Terminos with his Memorian or one of the Jezzails.
I really like the colour balance across the model the white fur sits great against the red accents and the flesh, really enjoyed watching this, would love to see you tackle the ratling gun as I think that's the one I'll struggle with!
I like the white fur, it's like he was born an albino, a sign from the Great Rat in the Sky. He is destined for greatness as such had the most honored adaptation. I would do the other two in a different color. That will make the white rat ogre pop even more, Face it, he will be the last rat ogre you remove as a causality.
I just preordered my set, can't wait, would love to see you making bases, not enough of those videos out there, will be putting my skaven in the sewer and stormcast in the city above it
Superb white fur effect! Love the community service announcements for warpstone use as well 😊 For the future Skaven explisive goodness would be appreciated, be it a gun or engineer please!
Rat Ogre (I'm not calling them Ogors) looking fresh. Looking forward to a Brood Horror if that's on the horizon👀 Though the old lore said "only grey seers and special skaven had white fur" I like the idea that this guy has had all the fur colour bleached from him from being so pumped full of tasty warpstone :D
I really like the white fur. I would put a flesh tone on the fingers to help them stand out as the white doesn’t draw the eye to that feature of the model.
I think the white looks great! I don't know if I'd want to do all of them as white but instead have all different fur colors, possibly a blonde and dark brown for the other two. I do have the old Rat Ogre box built up and painted which I bought for Mordheim a few years ago, I'll have to see how they look when I paint these up and they may need a few touch ups. :)
Oh blonde is an option I didn't think of-thank you! Yeah sometimes you just need a bit of work to match them up better but I think mixing the sets will look cool!
Yes square base supremacy!! I too shall be squaring the skaven, just need to figure out what rules to use for boss. The white fur is good, I am personally leaning to a black fur for majority of my ratty boys. I would welcome videos for all the rats.
In reference to the part in the beginning when you said maybe I used the wrong head. You can never assemble a model wrong in that sense. Rule of cool above all!
I think the white fur looked great. Think it would be interesting though to have the ogres each have different fur though just a thought since sounds like at most you'll field 5 of them. I'd love to see the Warlock and the 'priest?' from the Stormcast!
I don’t think you did a bad job but I’m not super keen on the white fur, but that’s a personal preference thing I think, it’s just kind of a lot and washes out some of the rest of the model. Would also have loved to see you really punch up that chunk of Warpstone which is the most Skaven thing ever imo. Overall great and informative video as always! Thanks for making these videos for us all to enjoy :)
Warplock Jezzails! But in all seriousness, would love to see you do the Grey Seer! As far as the fur colour, personally, I don't love the white but brown, grey, and black rat ogres might be cool
I think you could have done rakarth flesh for the skin with agrax earthshade that had been thinned down alot but other than that the skin looks fantastic!
Great video 🙂 really keen to see how you tackle the clan rats, not sure if I'm going to be getting the box yet, but if I do the Skaven will be bursting forth into the Old World
Maybe have a look at my space marines videos for quick and easy green armour and see if any of those would work for you? Maybe even an Eldar video I've done with green armour?
Amazing painting tutorial, as ever. Looks awesome as an individual. Not sure it would work as an entire unit for me. Might get a bit lost on the table. A single albino rat ogre amongst a unit of black and brown would be cool though. Imagine he was bullied by the other Skaven when he was little but now he’s totally hench it’s pay back time!
Regarding changing the base, are the feet big enough to magnetise? Or could you 3d print parts of one base to enclose the other to bring them up to the right shape/size ( Idon't know the scales so it would be a circle within a square or a square in a circle). If that makes sense. Awesome video btw.
There are companies making adaptable bases out there so you can just have them based both ways very easily but I feel like I'm just lying to myself that I'll ever have time to play them in Age of Sigmar often enough to make the work worth it! Thank man!
he looks great i think the white needs to be more "pronounced" its a little dull for me but as he's a Skaven its probably spot on, would love to see a video of the big Skaven gun. look forward to seeing the rest of the series
Perhaps he has white fur because he was a lab rat that they mutated into a rat ogre. I think white fur works really well for skaven, tbh. Maybe the warpstone exposure has prematurely aged their hair!
You could 3D print round bases with the square slot for the square base? This way you could just pick up the mini from the AoS base for Old World, ala those Forge World diorama Primarchs and others?
I think the white fur is great, but you should do the other two in a different fur colour. Albino rats stand out because they aren't super common, right? Let him be the special one.
Yeah but I don’t know if I’d spend the time doing it-I feel like I won’t play them in Age of Sigmar as much as I’d want to to go through all that! It’s a good suggestion-I’m just lazy and time constrained 😄
@@MediocreHobbies would be really helpful for Spearhead since you need exactly the 4 pieces to play. I know several folks going in on Skaventide sets to get rules/scenery, while other folks get the Stormcast or Skaven, so they have everything to play Spearhead with their existing collection.
The white fur was good, but I thought the skin should be more irritated as it is new skin and exposed in a rather brutal way. I thought the warpstone glow needed a fluorescent yellow highlight.

Thanks man, definitely wanted him to look as dirty as possible while still somehow looking white :D
Yes yes
I can't wait to paint the Ratling Warpblaster. I love the crazy warp tech/mad science aspects of Skaven
I definitely like how you went about making him albino, as I watched I was thinking maybe add just a brief touch like maybe a light drybrush of pure white if only to give that brightness to it, but then when you said you were going for mange and dirty it helped shift the appearance in my mind, maybe making the skin a little pinkish not a lot but that might help sell the albinism a bit more but that's just to my eye and I totally get what your vision is and you 100% nailed it
Great video as always Andy very excited for the videos
Cheers pal. Appreciate the comment.
I wasn't sure at first but at the end, it really looked great! You were right when you said you should power through if you're not sure on a scheme.
Yeah there’s always an ugly stage to push through 😄
That white fur is some kinda whoodoo black magic right there. Well done. Makes me glad I caved and ordered the box set at my local shop.
Enjoy the set! Glad you liked the video!
Absolutely brilliant help, you've helped me enjoy and improve my painting skills ten fold. Keep it up
Absolutely love the pale white fur with the sickly palid flesh under it
Thanks man!
White fur is great, looks really matted and a focal point of the model. Great job!
Cheers John!

Fair fair. I shall see what I can do.
Love the colour scheme. So much so that I will be copying the steps somewhat for my white beastlord that I will be getting ready for ToW!
Love hearing that!
I wasn't sold on the fur until the end. It came out looking awesome.
Yeah always power through 😄
Cracking scheme! Yeti big rats are cool. I’ll be doing this scheme when I get my box. Cheers hope the videos do well as I’ll be looking forward to them all 👍🏼
There doing pretty good so far.
Looks fantastic and loving the white fur
Thanks so much man
Yes andy!!, praise the horned rat 🐀🐀🐀, you even got me best painted army in my local club competition :D
Ehh..what?? that's awesome! I'd love to see the army if you posted it anywhere?!
Excited to see them ranked up in an old world battle report!
Oh same it’s gonna look so good.
Awesome job - I like the white fur!
Thanks so much!
The fur looks great. I’d stick with that for sure 👌
Thanks man, think I just need to step back and look at it again another day!
Nice job Andy, I do like the white fur, it’s very effective.
Cheers pal.
Looks great great oh most merciful of masters yes yes !
Thank you!!
The Rat Ogre looks amazing, the colors really helps make the model stand out! Honesty I would love to see you paint up the Lord Terminos with his Memorian or one of the Jezzails.
I reckon there both on the cards.
I think the white fur looks pretty great personally. Overall fantastic job
Cheers man, appreciate it!
Great result. The albino look is super creepy. Would love to see the Lord Terminus & Grey Seer. And also the Jezzails & Prosecutors ;)
Prosecutor video just went live! Thanks man, pale skin always seems creepy!
Looks amazing! Always love your style.
Cheers man, really appreciate it
I really like the colour balance across the model the white fur sits great against the red accents and the flesh, really enjoyed watching this, would love to see you tackle the ratling gun as I think that's the one I'll struggle with!
Ye I’m a little nervous of that one myself. It mite deserve a video.
Well done! I like the look a lot!
Thanks so much!

I have a few videos on bases, if there’s anything specific I’m missing let me know!
@MediocreHobbies I'd love to see your take on sewer bases with pipes, sludge etc, a home fit for a skaven haha
This is awesome!
Thanks so much!

mOOOREE PAINT TUTORIAL SKAVENTIDEE:) STORMCAST AND RATSS:)
Check in tomorrow 🐀

Oh that’s a good shout
Looks good

Awesome video! Can't wait for the box to expand my Clan Skurvy army
You sir are a man of taste.
I really like the white fur. I would put a flesh tone on the fingers to help them stand out as the white doesn’t draw the eye to that feature of the model.
Yeah someone else said the same thing, I totally forgot 'normal' rats have skin feet, not furry feet :D
Cool as always. 👍
Thanks again!
Awesome
Thank you!
I think the white looks great! I don't know if I'd want to do all of them as white but instead have all different fur colors, possibly a blonde and dark brown for the other two. I like the White fur alot

I'd love to see the Warlock and the 'priest?' from the Stormcast!
I shall add to the list.
Nice, was just thinking yesterday that I’d do an albino style skaven army. Looks cool.
Perfect timing then! Thanks man
I will 100% be buying more Prosecutors and pairing them with Yndrastra and the new Knight Azyros
Oh yeah they would all look so cool together!
I see Mando in the top left has gotten a little taste of OUR hobbying
Only way to get through our communal pile of shame😄

Love the fur. The eyes should be made either red to go with the albino idea, or green like the warp stone is glowing from within.
Oh…I like either of those ideas! Thank you!
The white fur rules! Thanks for being diligent about too many filler phrases!
Glad you liked it pal.
Would be great to see how you’d do the Lord Terminos 👌
A few people have wanted to see it.
Warplock Jezzails! But in all seriousness, would love to see you do the Grey Seer! As far as the fur colour, personally, I don't love the white but brown, grey, and black rat ogres might be cool

I may not be able to afford/justify buying it.... doesn't mean I don't want it... 😅 also, I think 3/5 different colour Rat Ogres would look great!
Ye I think so to. Fun little project.
I like the white
Thanks man
Amazing painting tutorial, as ever. Looks awesome as an individual. Not sure it would work as an entire unit for me. Might get a bit lost on the table. Ohhh I like that idea! Cheers man, appreciate the kind words
Very nice mini! I'm surprised from to where ended up that white fur, defintely stealing-copying that scheme for the future.
Steal away, please!
Wonderful video. But what did you do for his claws and teeth?
Morghast Bone!
Regarding changing the base, are the feet big enough to magnetise? Or could you 3d print parts of one base to enclose the other to bring them up to the right shape/size ( Idon't know the scales so it would be a circle within a square or a square in a circle). If that makes sense. Awesome video btw.

He shall be the next video for sure.
Maybe add a pure white highlight to just the fur areas so it stands out from the flat areas a bit more. Aside from that it's a nice scheme
Yeah I know what you mean! Thanks man
I might have to put the Island of Blood Rat Ogres together now!
Yes you do.
👍
🙌
BOOM!
Boom to you to.
Perhaps he has white fur because he was a lab rat that they mutated into a rat ogre. I think white fur works really well for skaven, tbh. Maybe the warpstone exposure has prematurely aged their hair!
Good ideas. I like knit.
Think the white fur was good on that rat ogre

Amazing video... amazing mini... i will use your scheme for my rats 👏👏👏👏 but my Skeleton horde is more like brown then your green, why?
You could 3D print round bases with the square slot for the square base? This way you could just pick up the mini from the AoS base for Old World, ala those Forge World diorama Primarchs and others?
I have a laser cutter so can make the trays to hold them as well. No problem there.
@@MediocreHobbies Of course. :) With the base in base you can use the same army in both games
Are those still 50mm bases? Also, looks great! I am going for lots of green, as I'm a Clan Pestilens player, because who doesn't love Nurgle?
Yes 50mm bases! You gotta love Nurgle!
I think the white fur is great, but you should do the other two in a different fur colour. Albino rats stand out because they aren't super common, right? Let him be the special one.
Yeah I might mix them up a bit, that's a great point!
I'm pretty sure that's some sort of warpfire thrower on his hand there.
It probably is, I kinda just jumped straight into painting before reading his rules!
So I think you nailed the fur, but I don’t like it .. maybe because of the red cloth? I don’t know
Great tutorial for white fur!!
I think that’s how I feel as well. I think it looks good but all the colors together army gelling properly.
Great result and the sculp really gives off something really disturbing, and i will totally put all of those Skaven on square bases for TOW
Oh it's happening :D
Is magnetising bases a thing? That way you could use them for both game systems.
Yeah but I don’t know if I’d spend the time doing it-I feel like I won’t play them in Age of Sigmar as much as I’d want to to go through all that! It’s a good suggestion-I’m just lazy and time constrained 😄
I would love to see how you do the scenery.
Hadn't considered it but let me have a look at it and see what I could do!
@@MediocreHobbies would be really helpful for Spearhead since you need exactly the 4 pieces to play. I know several folks going in on Skaventide sets to get rules/scenery, while other folks get the Stormcast or Skaven, so they have everything to play Spearhead with their existing collection.
First Stormcast model to paint should be Skaven…who are Stormcast? Nasty lightnings persons yes-yes!
Haha ignore today's video then!
The only model I really want from this set is the lord vigilant to make into a chaos lord on demonic mount.
Oh damn that would be so goooooood
could you make a list of all the different colors you use?
I'll try but I don't always have time to go back through videos, it might be quicker to make a list rather than waiting for me to get to it!
The white fur was good, but I thought the skin should be more irritated as it is new skin and exposed in a rather brutal way. I thought the warpstone glow needed a fluorescent yellow highlight.
That’s cool, you can add those on if you like!
Skeleton Horde sure looks... green
:D

Comment for the algorithm.
Appreciate it man thanks
Hi Andy nice Rat Ogre
Can you paint the sniper skaven it call Jazzails
Greeting from the Netherlands
Yes indeed. I have plans to do them.
No basing tutorial?
Sorry! just added it to the description now!
I like the white fur but i didnt think rats had fur on their feet
Yeah I probably should have done the feet “skin” coloured!
looks good, but why is his hands and feet white? shouldn't they also be "skin" coloured?
This comment made me realise that yes, they should be 😄 please adjust tutorial accordingly 😂
@@MediocreHobbies hehehe, maybe on the next one? I like the scheme and if I get a copy of some of these then I will paint them the same I think
Clawlord
Yes sir
I think it needs a little something extra imho.
Any suggestions on what to add?

Yup
