    Depending on the year, that computer may be an EEC-IV. A buddy of mine actually found a write up for the intel assembly code. IIRC they are EEPROM. This actually made me very interested in learning assembly code. Enjoying the content, just recently subscribed.

      It is EEC-IV. In college I was troubleshooting my first explorer and had access to a factory service tool and was amazed that the old computer could run certain self diagnostic tests. For example it'd do a cylinder balance test where it would turn off injectors, read RPM drop, and tell you if one cylinder was underperforming. Cool old tech.
      Reprogramming one would be a more complex computer project than I'd be willing to take on, but I would love to see someone tackle it that'd be very impressive.

      @BuildSomethingAuto Ya, I always thought those computers seemed pretty advanced for their time.
      Understandable, I'm sure that would be a mess to take on. Hopefully I'll have enough confidence/knowledge to tackle that one day.

    Yes! This is exactly what I need! I want to reuse my stock dash on my BII electric conversion and was thinking an Arduino would be the simplest way to do that. I'm just like a year or two behind you lol

    I am trying to use a oem ecm to control a 4R70W transmission that is mated a carburetor 351, any suggestions?

      I havent personally messed with transmission control units much. I would anticipate that you mostly just need throttle position and vehicle speed for the trans to work. Vehicle speed shouldnt be too hard since the sensor should be on the trans, tcase, or rear diff. Throttle position is a bit harder. Try to find a service manuak for that trans so you can figure out exactly what signals it wants. You could always just swap in a manual valve body.
      Have you checked forums? I know people have done stuff like this before but maybe not with that exact trans. Best of luck let me know how it turns out.

      With cars it can also stand for "Powertrain Control Module" 😅. Good to know though, I didn't realize that was the term for it (although the amplitude wasn't important here, just the frequency).

      @@BuildSomethingAuto yup the frequency of the pulses is what you need and sometimes the width of the on or offs is important too. Great thing is the fine control you get as it’s basically a digital switch
