+Jude Rhyme Yeah. This would turn Pearl being with Rose from an evidence for Pink Diamond into a "maybe" as Pearl would be White Pearl instead of Pink Pearl. I say maybe instead of an outright point against as you'd still need to explain why White Pearl would have had interaction with and long enough with Rose to decide to defect with her.
Yellow Pearl was blindly devoted to Yellow Diamond. Blue Pearl showed next to no emotion, but seemed to perk up when hearing about the rebels coming. So maybe less devoted. However, Blue Pearl was locked up in Blue Diamond's mecha chair with BD when the rebels showed up. So it looks like BD keeps her close. So Rose would likely still have to be highly ranked enough that not only Pink Diamond would trust her, but she'd have regular contact with White Diamond. At least tolerated by White Diamond to hang about so she could hob knob with White Pearl.

+Gideon Wells it's also been explicitly stated that pearl is a defective pearl, her gemstone is an oval instead of a circle like the others (at least yellow) so you could also say that pearl was made for white diamond but didn't turn out right, so Rose took her in instead of letting them destroy her gem. something along those lines.

Maybe when Rose started the rebellion, the other diamonds stripped her of her diamond authority which led to changing her form and she was further classified as "Rose Quartz"? That's why Steven didn't recognize the mural, she changed from a diamond form to a Rose Quartz form?

Something to also consider is that the positions of the diamonds in the old symbol could show a sign of rank. White Diamond could be the supreme leader (and possibly the largest) while Rose would be the smallest and lowest in the diamond rank.

I think the biggest thing that makes it lean toward rose being pink diamond is that the show creators repeatedly and deliberately avoid showing so much of a smidgen of pink diamond. that seems like a lot of guff to go through to torment the fandom and keep us guessing. pearl is white, that doesnt mean they hide white diamond to make us speculate that pearl could be white diamond. we know she isnt and they show her, but why deliberately hide pink diamond to simply build suspense to keep us guessing?
Some of these comments aged terribly but I too used to believe PD was a totally separate entity. It’s so scary how accurate this theory is looking back on it after all the reveals and movie. This guy must be a Sapphire
in the mural in "it could have been great" pink diamond is standing on rose quartz gems. The same ones that power lion and Rose's spaceship. Not sure what this means but could be evidence that she is pink diamond.

Considering the abstract nature of the patterns behind the other murals, Im not sure they represent anything specific for Pink Diamond.

i guess no one really considered the moon base's seat to be a diamond's since it was pretty small...
perhaps the pink diamond mural showed her true giant form so Steven did not recognize because he only new her in the smaller human like form she took on since it looks like the diamonds are less human like then most gems

If you think about it. The name gives it away.. Roses are normally red and quartz is white. If you combine red+white you get pink. I just thought of this now.

1st of all its not proven that peri cant activate the controller, steven found it before her, and even if only diamond can activate the controller, why peridot doesnt have anything to say to steven when he activated it, like :" How da f*ck did u do that, the controller is diamond only" or something
They all found it at the same time, peridot garnet and pearl got up there before Steven and amethyst (recently just finished rewatching so I know that happened) and she does say that, she says "that's only meant for elites!"

When I first heard of this theory, I believed it 100%, but after seeing two diamonds in the flesh, and everything else we found out about in Steven Bomb 4, I'm convinced she's not a diamond, but a general. Quartz are considered elite soldiers, especially compared to the common ruby foot soldier, and considering Rose is very powerful, a excellent leader, and a gem of great importance, why can't those aspects be of that of a general. Who's with me?
+Cold Gin Drinker I'm with you, also, some people (and me) think there is some dark secrets about Rose, and I think one of them is that she broke/killed Pink diamond and escaped as a rebel, maybe Rose is the strongest Rose Quartz ever made.
PkmnRayhak That would explain what she said to Greg in We Need to Talk about I being a good thing that he knows little about her as possible and that rather disturbing look she had in the extended intro. Another thing to consider is her love of fighting, which is most likely a common trait amongst quartz type soldiers, especially at the rank of general. Given everything we know about her is from a very bias perspective, Rose could be a manipulative, powerful, warrior with sadistic tendencies in the heat of battle and a very eager scientist. Tell me, did you noticed that when she said it doesn't matter what she thinks in The Answer, it sounded more like a scientist looking for more knowledge on a discovery as great as cross fusion?

While I'm sure that Rose is are more than what we know, I've never been one to believe in the Rose = PD Theory. She's classified as a Quartz and displays pretty much all the features that Peridot once used to describe what amethyst was supposed to be. Especially if she was engineered with the idea of being a high rank fighter/commander in mind then it would explain her prowess in battle and ability to lead.
Another thing to look at though it really don't have too much grounds other than simply pulling a few things together is that Rose is a big lady. She's got some chub/muscle/whatever and what we've seen of YD and BD as well as of the two murals we've seen, Diamonds seem to have similar body types: more slender, elegant/regal in a way that's more fluid than boxy, rather tall. And while there could be digression, I just don't feel as though Rose fits the "image" of what a Diamond is. What's more, she's barely taller than Garnet making her shorter than Jasper, and she is absolutely smaller than YD. To me, that just stacks a lot against the theory.
More to it, with titles, the name of a gem is tied to their rank. Pearls we're assuming are close to if not the bottom of the barrel. And they hold the name/title of pearl. The Diamonds are at the top and once more the name is their title. So then we get to the solider/Quartz cast. Let's take Japser and Amethyst here for a moment. Both are (scientifically speaking) quartz with Jasper classified as an "aggregate of microquartz" which means real life Jasper is made of many smaller things... I'm not a scientist, it's hard to convey. Which backs of a theory I personally suppose of Jasper being either a successful forced fusion or just made of the left over materials used for the bigger and badder soldiers. Amethysts are considered just quartz which personally points me to believing that has Steven Universe Amethyst not been "overcooked" she would have been bigger and of higher status than Jasper. All this leads up to what I've really been trying to get at, Rose Quartz as a high ranking solider. Her own name holds the word/title/classification of Quartz. She's THE Quartz. Or in the top tear atleast.
However one of the things that knocks on this is that rubies aren't quartz (correct me if I'm wrong).
Getting away from all the "well mineralogy says this so i think this" mumbo. Rose, from what I've seen, just really seems too emotional to be a Diamond. For the most part, what we've seen/have heard is that they are typically collected(unless called a clod but hey) more rational than emotional, and have the type of personality to say "I'll let 50 die if it means saving 1000" or something like that. BD was okay with the loss of 7 gems. She seemed to show no sympathy for Sapphire despite being told that Sapphire knew she would be a casualty. It was for the greater good. YD had no problem detonating the communication gem when she found Peridot was defecting/malfunctioning/disobeying because it would be for the greater good. Rose is about teamwork all everyone being valuable. (As far as I've seen and hear about her.) She cares about the emotions of others and whats to know how they feel. It's just not very Diamond like.
I see things going for both theory but to me, the idea that Rose if PD is just a bit of a stretch for me to believe. Sorry about the wall of text, make of it what you will.

The reason I so thoroughly enjoy your theory videos is because of the respectful separation of facts and observations, from ideas of your own. It is a pain to click on a theory video and have unsupported conclusions being spat out left and right. As for this video itself, very good timing. Steven Bomb 4 gave us a lot to process and the rose diamond theory was the last thing on my mind. I am glad you made it front and center and gave me another reason to rewatch the most recent steven bomb!

with all of the continuity the show has given us i think that anything as big as steven not recognizing his mother on the moon base or how our pearl isn't pink to match rose just makes it seem extremely unlikely that rose is pink diamond

When I first heard of Rose Diamond theory, I liked the idea, but honestly all this new information over time has made me lean more towards the idea of Rose just being a high-up gem, perhaps analogous to Sapphire or something. I like to think her job involved culturing production of new gems or something along those lines, but who knows.

To me it was Jasper who confirmed that Rose Quartz is Pink Diamond. This is a fairly odd explanation but hear me out. When Jasper describes Amethyst, Pearl, Garnet and Steven she speaks as if Rose is the only Rose Quartz.
Jasper described Pearl as "a" lost and defected pearl. "a" puny overcooked runt to describe Amethyst, and "this" shameless display to describe Garnet.
However she said "You have the power "of" Rose Quartz" rather than "You have the power "of a" Rose Quartz".
This makes me believe that Rose is not a mass produced Gem and possibly pink diamond.

This is the hallmark of a well thought out show, that you could logically deduce a plot twist but yet most being still sidelined by it
I think that the next step would be to determine where the actual Pink Diamind went or what happened to her. And to do that I think we need to analyze each Diamond's role in their matriarchy. In the Moonbase Murals, each Diamond was depicted doing something, or in a certain pose. That makes me think that they each had a specific purpose or domain that they controlled. And because Honeworld removed the Pink Diamond symbol after the rebellion, they would no longer have control over Pink Diamond's domain or purpose.
How does this guy keep getting it right all?
I have a theory that Rose was a high ranking quartz gem under pink diamond. In the sky arena, the statues seem to be more the champions of the diamonds', and I have a feeling the statue that is destroyed is of Rose. She may have been created as a Rose Quartz to be a field medic as well as a soldier, which could mean she was given more empathy to suffering in order to help her teammates--but this same empathy is what made her turn against homeworld in order to save the Earth
+Girl Face If that theory turns out to be true and if Rose was made by Pink Diamond, then the latter spectacularly shot the Homeworld Gems in the foot. Then again, that could've been Pink Diamond's plan if it turns out that she wanted to save the Earth.

Hello, I come 8 years later to say another proof that rose quartz is pink diamond, even that it is confirmed that she is. If rose was just a normal quartz that started a rebelion... why does she had so many powers that a normal quartz didnt had? like floating, healing, and all of her powers.. The control seat was NOT meant for use only for Diamonds.
Peridot specifically referred to it for use by ELITE gems.
Peridot has also referred to non - Diamond gem's as Elite.
Steven being able to unlock it only means he has the same access Rose did, it is not evidence that Rose was a Diamond.
Only that she was an Elite.
Also the chair is way too small to properly be used by any of the confirmed Diamonds we've seen so far.

Dillsfawn exactly. I would even go as far as to say that AJ misunderstood the scene with the chair. AJ stated that Peridot could not use the computer until Steven unlocked it, when the scene plays out much more that she just doesn't know how to turn it on.
it would be the same as putting a kid today in front of a DOS computer, it would be so antique that they would have no clue how to use it.
