    Hint on anosmia: Don't spray on your neck below your nose. No better way to get "used to" a fragrance. Try spraying behind your ears instead. p.s Under the neck is also not a great thing for the tender skin on you neck.

    In case anyone is interested, in my experience I get the most longevity if I’m wearing a Japanese lotion with SPF protection, such as Kao Biore Aqua Rich Watery Essence. The way the sunblock works is different from the US brands and leaves an unscented layer on the skin that makes fragrances last when sprayed on the area.

    When I was younger, I used to hate the fact that my skin was sooooo oily. In the Summer time my skin shines. My whole body shines. I hated this more than I could explain. I have ALWAYS looked much younger than my peers to a Point where it was hard to get a date because I always was looked at as someone's baby brother. Now that I am much older I still have the little boyish look and this is now GREAT. But now that I am getting into fragrances they stay on me forever...even the cheap ones. When I get out of the shower my skin is dry but not for long. Less than an hour later, the oil comes back. When I get a scar, it heals as if it was never there. So now I realize my family curse is not so much of a curse now.

    I always put fragranced lotion on immediately after bathing (while I'm still MOIST), then I rub in a dab of Rose Salve where I apply my perfume. Then spritz away. I've never had issues with longevity. I have normal skin, not too dry, not oily.

  • @warrenbfeagins

    Coconut oil works for me. Apply coconut oil after a shower, which is super healthy for your skin, and it attaches to the fragrance adding it's own scent to to what you are wearing. It's great.

    Such perfect timing Sebastian! I've been buying a lot of niche fragrances that smell great except for their longevity which frustrates me coz they are so expensive. The first time I was introduced to fragrance primer was when someone showed DS and Durga I Don't Know What.

    Keep yourself healthy. Keep skin moisturized. Oil your skin after moisturizing after your shower. I like to use an AHA lotion to exfoliate and acidulate your skin and then an oil that conditions your skin. My favourite is Clarins Anti Eau , argon oil or almond oil. In winter here, shower oil is a must. I have rather normal body skin but a combination facial skin. I have never tried these “extenders”

  • @atlantacabil
    @atlantacabil 4 ปีที่แล้ว +8

    Great video! Lotion has never worked with my skin. I use unscented Aveeno body wash with a 5ml decant of my favorite fragrances. I usually have four fall/winter fragrances and another four for spring/fragrance. I work from home so this allows me to smell good at home and save my bottles unless I go out. As far as layering I use Molecule 01 the most. Prior to purchasing Nio my most complimented fragrance combo was Dua Matrix & Molecule 01 🔥

    I’m curious how body chemistry impacts scent longevity and the notes themselves. Probably too big of a topic to address and possibly too many variables to consider.

    • @sagew7377
      @sagew7377 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Also have wondered if my chemistry makes my scents shorter than intended and by how much. Unless I’m just going totally nose blind.

      It’s interesting - I cannot ever make fragrance last longer than a few hours on my skin… including the “eternal” category ones on fragrantica 😅 I do have dry skin but always make sure I’m well moisturised… will have to do some more experiments 🤓🤓🤓

    For certain, particularly poor performing fragrances, I always do two sprays on the hair behind the ears. I can still smell The One EDT projecting off at the end of a work day. 8 hours projection easy! This is really the only one I have performance issues with, except for extra fresh ones that is. In those cases, I just pack a travel atomizer with me.

    CeraVe lotion. Have used it for over a decade. Unscented, great formula and available just about everywhere. Fragrance molecules need moisture to cling to; if you have dry skin, this is why your fragrances don't last.

  • @almatoledo1608
    @almatoledo1608 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Very helpful guide from someone dry-skin challenged :) As a woman with long hair, I also apply to hair and it is wonderful as it disperses aroma throughout the day in a lasting way. Thank you for presentation and again so intrigued by Durga I Don't Know What (Let us call it the Je ne Sais Quoi!).

  • @saunterscamper3952
    @saunterscamper3952 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    I appreciate all these suggestions!
    Another one I have used is applying a good unscented lotion like Avene brand and/or a petrolatum based skincare like Cerave Healing Ointment to my inner arms covering the pulse points, neck, and to my cleavage first to protect skin from exposure to the alcohols (limit aging the skin) as well as extend the life of the fragrance.
    The addition of applying to my cleavage causes it to waft up to me letting me smell myself every so often as I heat up!

    Someone mentioned using Dove soap below. I can confirm that Dove Soap is technically “a moisturizing bar” (the curved oval bars). They have a higher moisturizing content than a regular typical soap bar. My dad worked for them for decades, which is how I know this factoid. (The classic Dove does have a definite scent though).

    So this applies to the layering video but it's a bit odd. I sprayed a basic vanilla fragrance and then decided to wear Black Orchid as it's cold outside and perfect for it. And they make a great combo! The vanilla complements the chocolate in BO and I was pleasantly surprised. It also softens it a bit which makes it more wearable.

    I had tried a sample of a perfume that I really liked and was sad that it didn't last at all (which isn't too uncommon with me). But I tried it again later after I moisturized and was surprised because it really helped. I could even smell it on my skin 10 hours later

    i used cetaphil or vaseline one, its nice.
    or if i want to go organic, i use aloe vera from my garden. 1 leaf/1 tongue of aloe vera can be used for couple of days
    or coconut milk oil sometimes, i cannot make it myself so i rarely use it tho

    I also love these videos. I would like to hear more details about the chemistry and making of perfume as well.
    And completely off topic -
    What is your opinion or could you do a review on which you think are the most well blended, complex perfumes. I’m thinking about ones where it is difficult to pick out notes. Like the way my perfume drawer smells when I open it - everything all combined all at once. Or if the story is true, like Diptyque has 34 Boulevard St. Germain - apparently the idea was for it to smell like the Diptyque boutique.

    Not many perfumes last on me, I usually buy them at the airport, but I've been so disappointed, I've moisturised, liked my skin always after a shower, I keep my perfumes in a box under the bed( cool and dark) I always but 100 ml bottles, My thoughts with this, is that the perfume manufacturers are only putting the same amount of perfume in the 100 ml, as they do in the 50ml? But I have tried everything

      Hi there eench bes es?? Spray the Molecule 02 down let it dry and spray the other fragrance on top. You'll have to test the amount of sprays but that's the method I use! :)
