The characters look phenomenal! They both have a sense of “cool” about them too- which is fun
You are really good at improving fast! One tip: The movement is really important! Its the most important part that keeps players playing. I would really focus on it, it should feel fast and responsive. You have alot of talent mate!
Thanks man, this month I'm definitely gonna be continuing to fine tune movement and some core movement mechanics like crouching and maybe hopping. Agree with you that movement is priority #1

cant wait to see this game develop ! a cool but maybe tricky character could be have a normal body but have a glass bowl as a head and have a fish/eel in it (similar to the boss from umbrella academy)

i think its very memorable your idea for the characters. to all be dark in some way. be there for different reasons. flaws are a good way to characterize. also. walrus looks super cute. not sure about the green glove but his face with the blue hat looks super cute. like fisher men vibs

Maybe you could add something like the blue shell in Mariokart, so you can hit the person in the lead. You could make the penguin fly to the person in the lead and attack him. Also you could do something like the ink, where you partially blind the other players, it could be called “blizzard” or something, and that’s exactly what it would be, a blizzard.

Thanks Alan, I'm learning how much complexity networked multiplayer adds to every feature, so I'm glad I started on this early
I think a yeti/abominable snowman boss character would be cool. Also, snow leopard snowboarding, a ram with curled ski tips. A ‘catch the snow hare’ mini game/time trial, or race against it, like TT from diddy Kong racing, to unlock the hare, which is the fastest skier. Sand Dunes, for a whole other biome/side game.

Even though you have a penguin attack, I would love a penguin character too! Maybe like a math nerd penguin, who's so good at trig and physics that it naturally translates into his skiing skills?

Each character could have their own ability, walrus could have a fish slap: pushing another racer to the side and the wolf could have a howling field, giving him immunity form items for a short time. Something like that anyways
LOVE this series!! i've been thinking about ideas for characters, and i think it might be cool to do something similar to the game "human fall flat". In the game they have outfits and costumes and all that, but something a bit more interesting and one of my favorite parts of the customization, is how you can paint your own character however you want. It has led to some hilarious skins when playing with friends. you can also upload photos of yourself to wrap around the model (which is perfectly jank).
another game that does something similar is this game called Diabotical, but instead of drawing your own faces, they're all decals (kind of like the mii creator), less crazy, but a bit more cohesive.
anyway, might be fun to mess around with later down the track! keen to see where this goes!!

Great video man! Can't wait to see what comes next. Hey what about an item that creates a ramp for you with a boost, but every one else that uses It later goes flying? Think banana from Mario kart, but it's a ramp, lol. That could be cool.

An item that makes a hole and you go inside it and you will appear back up, maybe if someone else went into the hole he will be gone for a couple of seconds (trap), you can call it “hole road”? Love your videos and hope to see the game finished 😁
potential balance option for the freeze effect is you have to freeze yourself for a second and tap into other players. a chain reaction with that might be fair because youre giving up control and could end up throwing yourself off a ledge

you could add an animal (I was thinking a chicken maybe) who is a small scared guy/girl with big fluffy clothes cuz they're scared of the cold
Im looking forward to the game! Idea: What if you make something like a squid from mario kart. Something that blinds the player, maybe like snow in the eyes or if they are wearing googles, their googles get smudged, idk. Just a thought.
You might make a shy crow with glasses, the background story: his parents threw him out of the house at a young age and an old childless woman raised him, he passed the time by reading books and helping the old woman. By the way, I really like your videos and the progress in the development of the game

This is a great series, and I can't wait to try out the game. It would be amazing if you could try and get it onto Nintendo Switch at launch, couch coop is such an important part of these mariokart style racing games and I hope it's not overlooked in favour of an exclusively online approach. Keep it up, proud of you!
Yeah I need to apply for a nintendo developer account ASAP. As far as couch co-op, I'll keep that in mind I agree that it's overlooked too often nowadays
A sloth-themed character in your game could be interesting. The animal's long and lanky limbs would add to the skiing aspect and create a humorous contrast to the fast-paced nature of the sport due to the slow reaction time of the animal. It might be helpful to check out the anime Seton Academy: Welcome to the Pack for some animal character ideas.
This is my favourite snowboarding game for sure!

NPC character Idea:
A snowman starting out with 3 snowballs he is build with and when too far behind he sacrifices a part of his body to start one of those big snowballs rolling downhill. After 3 uses he dies.
one character could be a bear, bears being mostly northern animals would fit the aesthetic well. another northern animal are moose's which would also go great with the surroundings.

You can add an ability similar to Mario's bullet that consists of dogs pulling and it destroys everything in their way. An ultimate ability (rare ability for the last player) avalanche.

As for characters, hmmmm, a big *fat* polar bear or yeti. Extra weight to contend with, but you don't wanna mess with him.
Yeti could throw snowballs.
Did you ever play the game called RC Revenge? Sometimes I think about the music in that game, and how cool the track creation is/was. Your game reminds me of that too. Can't wait to see the final game! You might consider as you get closer to your end visual making a trailer/screenshots and creating a page on steam for us to wishlist. That can help build the hype train for when you do release, because it's really looking like something myself and others would certainly buy!

I see a lot of comments who want a penguin character despite the penguin rockets. This made me think maybe each of the powerups could tie into the different characters, this could help build the lore. Maybe the penguin guy has a bunch of minions. And to earn this power up you have to defeat him.

A snake on one Ski would be cool 😊 and by the way: maybe making the wolf white on snow is a bad idea, because of contrast and character recognition. Another 8dea for a weapons: Maybe a huge snow wave that shoots out in front of you and gets all players
Forgot to mention, every item should have a counter defense item or move... Maybe add two item slots, you can save one, for later use... Makes it more strategic

With full body freeze, the orange jacket looks pretty normal.
You could apply a blue tint to the rest of the character model.
Okay that is all.
if the freeze ability is instant, its gonna break a lot of friendships. needs more skill to pull off, to balance out its power. maybe fix the player on the path and then freeze later. like it takes time for him to freeze himself up to then freeze others. or lock him in that path for a good while to let players predict his gonna do it on a straight coming area.
if it is instant then maybe have it not last long. Give the victim a chance to get back quickly. it does excite me the idea of a race game where u can bother others but u quickly get back to it. like u can mess others up a lot but with skill u can quickly get back on track or it sometimes even helps others. Be chaotic. that would be great to watch and stupidly fun to play cuz of all the madness and dumb things happening.
Tho I will say. Too much excitement dies off quick. Maybe its cuz i'm older idk. Multiplayer games with too much happening tier me very fast. Got a few games we quicly got tiered cuz it was tooo stimulation. Was constant reflex reactions with no breaks
game was tanknarock. fun but very tiering. our group still plays tricky towers. Cuz of how funny it can be. its not as overly stimulating

Just an idea to make the full body freeze like the lightning cloud in Mario. Activate the ability and you have to pass on the freeze to someone else
You should add a snowstorm/fog and have a ski goggle powerup to see trough the fog. You could also add a secret shortcut on the cliff the AI would always fall off in the second devlog.
You should add a ski resort village area where you can meet the characters buy cosmetics and even chill in your ski condo.
I love the character you model they are great! Not gonna lie, I am way worst at 3D modeling 😂
You should add that if you drink the hot Shocklete while youre frozen the ice cube goes away.
I'm afraid the anthropomorphic wolf might never be liberated from its modern implications.
I’m not really familiar with Unity but I think you should make the scarf has less gravity so it looks more “flowy” rather than a wet noodle being flung around.
Hot chocolate could be abbreviated to "Hot Cocoa" or even just "Cocoa" for effective labels

Hey i don't know if you've seen grand mountain adventure, it's a mobile game that has a very similar style. Always thought it would be a good multiplayer game so very excited for this!
Here are some of my character ideas:
A King penguin with a crown
A polar bear being the bigger character (Bowser/DK)
A narwhale kinda like Yoshi
A puffin in suspenders with white and red pants and a red bennie
Ooh I really like the narwhal and puffin ideas! I'll have to try those out
Maby snowboard too and mini ski, and other Animals too different dogs and cats snowman, yeti look at ssx series for inspiration too maybe :D
