"Why are you the way that you are? .... I hate, so much about the things you choose to be". Steve's/Michaels face is pure anger and this line is one of the best insults I've ever heard.
One of my favorite Toby moments is when he drive-by-shouts at Darryl's sister. It was so beautifully uncharacteristic, it caught me COMPLETELY off-guard. "HAAEEYYY YOOU ASSHOLE!! YOU GONNA EAT ALL THAT DOG FOOD YOURSELF?!" they didn't even need to crash into the trash cans, I was already floored.
I thought Michael's hatred for Toby started in the performance review episode where Michael is reading from the suggestion box with Jan there (this was after the episode where they made out) and the suggestion box was just full or insults directed at Michael, Michael says that he doesn't know who these are directed and Toby meekly interrupts and says "arent the suggestions meant for you?" And you can see the hatred slowly start to creep into Michael lmao. It was because Toby embarrassed him in front of Jan.
Yeah the cafeteria scene where micheal pushes toby’s tray off the table was actually the last take of that scene and paul suggested that micheal should push off toby’s tray from the table.
I love how fans of the office can just start laughing right away after a little bit of background from a scene 😂 like, when Toby and Michael were sitting in the cafeteria and Toby was trying to make Michael feel better
Yep. Crazy how I just made a similar comment just now! Mike’s parents were divorced when he was young and Toby is recently divorced with a young child too which adds an extra “weird vibe” to the “buzz-kill dork HR guy” coming to “end the fun and jokes.”
I always thought Michael hated Toby b/c David Wallace confided in him that he hates his HR rep “Kendel” so of course to be cool, Michael copies David and hates Toby! That was my theory!
They should make another spinoff with Toby as the central character and call it “Everyone hates Toby” (but he is really the sabe underdog getting beat up).
So it's not that Michael Hates Tobey... its really that Steve Carrell hates the Tobey character. Some real method acting there. How do you hate a character when you know the actor personally?
Interviewer deserved a subscriber after this. Had good follow up, let Paul work through his thoughts. Without obsessive interupption. Reminds me of earlier days of Opie and Anthony. Until they became dopes and got their feelings hurt. The shock jocks got feelings hurt.
I disliked because of the misleading title of the video, I thought there was going to be a real explanation on Michael's hatred towards Toby... not that it just came up one day randomly
there was a real explanation, lol. he didn't say it happened randomly, he said it happened during the meredith's brithday episode. steve carrell actually hated what toby did there and just went HAM. he's the man so they went with it and it was funny as Hell, obviously. were you not paying attention?
Toby is like the prototypical sad, bureaucratic, middle-aged middle management beta male who's competent enough but quietly passive and just seems to go along and get along. He's the type of average, soft-spoken, well-meaning but mealy-mouthed guy who was probably picked on a lot growing up and stayed in that victim pattern even as an adult. Dunder-Mifflin is a paper company, a fading working class hardscrabble industry in a fading working class hardscrabble town of Scranton. In a real-life Dunder-Mifflin people below him probably WOULD either ignore Toby or resent him and he's likely similarly ignored or resented by corporate managers above him too. Toby's calm mediocrity reminds Michael of all his own shortcomings.
Well said exactly!! That and the fact that Michael’s parents were divorced and Toby was recently divorced with a kid which also sent Michael a “weird vibe.” He even poked fun at that before.
Omg no wonder he could play Toby so well. He is so insufferable to listen to omg like get on with it, speak faster, energy!! I am totally with Michael Scott
“If I was in a room with Hitler, Bin Laden, and Toby, and I had two bullets, I would shoot Toby twice.” Michael Scott
😂
🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂 i love that line 😂
thats my favourite line in this series everytime i watch it i just die for about 5 minutes
That’s one of the funniest lines I ever heard
It’s heartwarming to see Toby having a good, happy laugh
This is very surprising, I always assumed it was a no brainer that he hated him because he was HR..the “fun killers”.
Then why does he love Holly so much? Its just an excuse, not actual reason.
@@vivektam He started off hating Holly. He only changed his mind once she realized she was a female Michael.
@@wvu05 Doesn't he start to like Holly because she insults Toby?
@@eze2576 It's been a while since I've seen it, but I thought it was Yoda voice that over won him.
@@wvu05 that comes right after she disarms him by saying Toby's tour is boring iirc
Paul is an absolute legend

Michael when he sees Ryan: 😍😻
Michael when he sees Toby: 😡🤬NOOOOO!
🤣
"NO GOD PLEASE NO! NO! NO! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!"

I was tickled by how they continued that theme in NY, with David (CFO) truly disliking the corporate office *_"very irritating HR guy, "Kendall."_*
I thought it was because toby was HR and michael is HR's worst nightmare
I always felt bad for Toby. He was so sweet and kind and sad. 😢
The only bad bone in his body is his weird obsession of Pam
8th wonder of the world. Why Michael hates Toby
Paul is a very genuinely nice person!
I love how there's no dislikes at the time I saw this video!
Yeah the cafeteria scene where micheal pushes toby’s tray off the table was actually the last take of that scene and paul suggested that micheal should push off toby’s tray from the table.
Paul lieberstein: *politely explains why Michael hates Toby*
Me: NOT NOW TOBY MY GOD!!!
“This is an atmosphere of welcoming… and you can get the hell out.”
"This is an environment of welcoming and you should just get the hell out of here.."
Toby talking more than 4 o 5 words for minute is so amazing 🤣
I love how fans of the office can just start laughing right away after a little bit of background from a scene 😂 like, when Toby and Michael were sitting in the cafeteria and Toby was trying to make Michael feel better
No, Micheal hated Toby because he worked in HR and Micheal liked being inappropriate and Toby kept telling him he can’t make jokes.
That's something they introduced seasons later
Nah it’s deeper than that
Holly worked in HR but Mike liked her🤷🏽♂️
So this guy knows more about a show then the writers
@@olwammajiya5477 He hated her at first until he realised not only did she not impede in his fun and jokes but actually went along with them.
Steve Carrel just hated Paul so they wrote it into the scripts 😂
He hates the actual actor ?
@@guerovillalbaso2523I'm very confused too🤨
NO GOD PLEASE NO......NO...NOOOOO
My favourite
I saw a theory saying that Michael hates Toby because of how much he reminds Michael of his dad
Jeff
No it’s because he’s from corporate and so he’s really not part of their family.
…he’s also divorced so he’s not really part of HIS family….
@@BachBeethovenBerg man those dialogues were so well written 😂

I loved the one where Toby was teaching Pam how to punch in full view of Michael.

Paul Lieberstein will ALWAYS be Toby. :D

that's hilarious that Steve Carrell actually started to hate Toby

Guys, where is that exactly in the episode...i rewatched it and i could not find that scene, was is deleted or did i just miss it?
I love Toby and Phyllis
I don't think anyone will be able to figure out why Jerry hated Newman or Michael hated Toby!
I mean Newman is obvious. He's huge, jerk, doesn't care about anyone but himself and maybe Kramer, annoying,
The donut scene 🤣
Always thought Paul was hot as hell, then and now.
I like when Michael framed him for weed. Lol
Framed him for *caprese salad*
Does anyone know where the scene is where toby writes on the card because I am in the episode and I swear to God there is no such scene
4:42 If I'm thinking of the correct moment, that was definitely scripted... Toby WOULD smile, hearing that read out in the deposition...

I love toby and the fact that michael's hatred is so childish and stupid makes it so funny but when u people take it so seriously I wanna PUKE
Classic show......Michael's hatred for Toby lmao!!!!
This reminds me of my new Chad Flenderman novel
I think maybe Steve hates Paul
Nooo, Nooo, Noooooo!
He hates him because Toby divorced his wife
I have to say, I hated Toby too. LOL.
Toby go away now 😒
Why are you here?
To renew your divorce vows?😂
