The only surviving Robocop Police car from the actual set is in Branson Missouri at the Hollywood Car museum currently and I was able to see it during spring break
This is so cool! I can tell alot of effort was put into this build and this video. Just amazing results! This video is seriously underappreciated. Thank you to all the people involved in this project!
The Ford Taurus was credited in a documentary for paving the way to modern car designs. It marked a break from the 80s boxy police cars and U.S cars in general
The Taurus used some design reminiscent of the European Ford Sierra. The first one that came before it was the Ford Europe product (which in the USA was sold as Merkur).
The Taurus used a ponton style inspired by Sierra and some Audi 5000 asthetics to create a more aerodynamic performance which other manufacturers took notice of.
Impressive, most impressive! Where and how did you buy that car? And how did you guys convince Dallas city hall to put up the OCP logo back on the building?
Nice work! This reminds me, one thing I found interesting about RoboCop/Murphy is even though he becomes a one-of-a-kind cyborg and something of a "mascot" within the Detroit PD, he's still content to driver a humble police cruiser like the rest of the force. No fancy gadgets, no gimmicks, same model (though I wonder if he needs extra shock absorption for the car to hold his weight). Kinda really speaks volumes about Murphy's character.
People today don't realize how popular this model was. This was before the minivan, which was before the SUV. Too bad most of them ended up in the crusher.
I always thought they used Ford Tempos. This is better, but not by alot. I'm mostly referring to the fact that OCP was shown to skimp on the budget so bad in the movies that they would buy police cruisers that couldn't outrun anything. The irony is that they spent an inordinate amount of money on a "super cop" th as t they could place controls on. We saw how well that strategy worked in the movies.
We had an 89 ford taurus we bought for $600 wayback in the day. An old man drove it til he died, and we got from a dealership we later found committed odometer fraud. It had way more miles on it than we thought but the old guy took such good care of it you really couldnt tell until a mechanic got deep into it. We got a lawyer and the dealership gave us our money back and we kept the car. We rhino lined the whole thing to look like a robocop car. Drove it for years, until my mom left a gallon of milk in the backseat in summer and it exploded and soaked in the carpet. It never smelled the same after that and we traded it in. Lol
Unreal like mint pal 👌 👍 👏 I've loved that car since I seen the film 33 years ago be an absolute dream to own one especially over here in England Sir I salute you 👏
Taurus revolucionó la forma de hacer vehiculos, su estilizada y redondeada silueta los distinguio desde un inicio. A quien no impresionó verlos en esa pelicula!!
THE studio should have made the cop cars from the Taurus SHO. THEY were the only Taurus that were any damn good. AS an apprentice mechanic at a Ford Dealer, I had to work on these turds.
It is close to the ROBOCOP car but not exact. The front headlights housing are original but it did featured two round lights inside each original housings. The interior was built extra big to accomadate the big ROBOCOP suit. The rear glass doors did have protective cage as if it carries a K9 but never did. I can go on with big list but it is not my car. Got to give credit for the workmanship & efforts
One major problem, You built the car out of a 90s Taurus GL.The ones used in the movie were 1986 Taurus Lx's with preproduction 3.8 liter engines before they were made available to the public for 1988.
I found a low mileage (25k miles) first Gen Taurus in Seattle Washington that was barely driven by an old couple. The car was in mint condition pretty much before we converted it.

No -- we painted it, attached the light bar, built the pushbar, built the spot light, built the perp cage and installed a mobile data terminal -- We pretty much did everything that they did in the movie.
You even went to the original building to film the segment? Fantatastic!
I'd buy that for a Dollar!!! 🤑
Hahahahaha 😂😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣
Oh my geez 😆
The original brand is worth....50¢
just use some black paint and you got yourself a robocop car
Get change out of a dollar to 👍
Thaaaaat's right, Jay!
We take these cars for granted now, but when the Taurus appeared in Robocop there was nothing like it on the road in terms of design.
First and second gen Taurus is still an attractive car imo. The SHO... CHEF'S KISS

How about SUX 6000? I’m pretty sure it in the museum rn
@@slavamaksakov2043 didn't see it last time but it might be now
Is it still there? Well, if not, what’s the exhibit’s current location?
@@TPDManiacXC626 the car is still there as far as I know

6000 SUX
Yes Sir!
And make sure it has cruise control, a Blaupunkt and a state of the art Magnavolt security system.
WANT.
Instantly subscribed. I’ve always wanted to buy an OCP car replica.
Gorgeous work!
Thanks! More to come -- I have some other projects in the works and am going to shoot all my other replica props etc.
I'd like a 6000 SUX :P
@@Rubycon99 Yeah, make sure to even throw in a *Blaupunkt!*
Beautiful, nicely shot and edited.
Wow. Awesome video. It even looks like the proper OCP building. Good work !!!
Yeah, must be some superior CGI!
The building that was used for the film is real. It is the Dallas City Hall. The OMNI logo could have been put in with CGI.

Superb!! Great editing too. I’d love one of these.
Thanks a lot. If you can find a first gen Taurus, its one of the easier and cheaper movie car builds.

My favorite movie 🍿 of all times.
I own a 2002 and a 2005 Ford Taurus. One is a classic, the other will be a NASCAR.

Well the 02 isn’t quite a classic yet. Although the 96 Taurus is I believe. Great cars to have.

I need to know what wheels and tires those are.
Very nice car
Which roof spot did you go with?
I frikn love this guy!!
SWEET!
The stunt car (Taurus-SHO) was better than the principal filming car in my opinion but both made great police vehicles for the film.
What year is the ford? And where can one buy the parts? I hope to build one !myself for fun.😎
Agreed!
The video footage looks like scenes from a movie!! How’d you do that effect?
THE studio should have made the cop cars from the Taurus SHO. THEY were the only Taurus that were any damn good. AS an apprentice mechanic at a Ford Dealer, I had to work on these turds.
Decades later, the Taurus did become a police car
I think the SHO wasn’t even made yet at the time of production for the film.
Please tell me what the name of the light bar is
Lindo demais! Excelente trabalho.
How about the round headlights?
How did you do the matte painting for the cop building?
I created it in Photoshop and my buddy composited it in Nuke for me. Matte Painting is how I earn a living. Movies, TV, commercials etc.
