Had it been nowadays with the easy access we have to Amazon, I would have bought those vehicle stick on letters and added the SUX directly on my car after the 6000. Lord knows I looked everywhere for them at the time. I just never could find any. Ironically in a twist of fate, when I got back to the states with it I ended up buying a new car. I didn't trade it because I had to wait for it to be shipped back. Anyway the new car I bought broke down on me one night and my 6000, bailed me out. I guess you just never know.
That car is amazing. Imagine a real developed and enginered car with this awesome look with added interiour luxuary and a 80's luxuary sport dashboard design and having some chrome details to the body work = AN AWESOME CAR !!!!

Some backstory on to why the car looks so rough here: After filming was wrapped, the only remaining 6000 SUX ('76 Oldsmobile Cutlass underneath) just went back to where it was built, which was one of Stan Winstons shops where they do movie car props. There it sat in the desert for decades in a parking lot out back. Somehow the rear window got smashed and the entire interior got thrashed from being exposed to the elements. It's not apparant in the video, but the backseat area looks like it had vermin living in it for a while. A few years ago it got moved to the Petersen Automotive Museum on display which you see here. After that, it went right back to the desert. It's since been sold to some overseas movie car collector which plan on restoring it.
I heard this car is a modified 1977 Oldsmobile Cutless Supreme 4 door and the name was a joke referance to the Pontiac 6000 car which at the time was a direct rival to the Ford Taurus that Robocop and the Detriot Police Department used in the film.

I heard the cassis was used on a late 1970s Oldsmobile model, and that the automotive artists got several used and built the outside leaving the inside factory-GM....i'd build mine the interior i always imagined they had since i saw the movie for the first time as a kid. Fun fact: any covering over a headlamp was illegal, the Ford Taurus was the first US car produced with aerodynamic headlamps, in which the NHTSA finally changed the regulations of sealed beam headlamps. 1:35 is that a radio antenna built into the rear window or that orange strip for the rear window defrost? The latter, why is it on the outside instead on the inside of the window as it usually is?

As this is a screen-used vehicle, I can't help but suspect the reason the windshield looks cracked, as you noted, was because it was intentionally crashed for a scene- maybe the one where Clarence Boddicker splatters Emil Antonowsky (shortly after Emil stupidly crashes the gang's van into a tank of toxic waste).
