I cannot comprehend the talent this guy has. I never beat Lost Levels. I couldn’t beat two levels in the time this guy beats a whole game. Much respect. After watching you play Darbian, I feel like I shouldn’t be allowed to play Super Mario anymore.

Hope you guys know that in the 8-2 level before the hands u can swim underneath the ship until the end... saves some jumping time over the bullets and bombs... just keep tapping the b button to swim once ur underneath the ship....the more u know lol. If u have a frog suit u can swim under the ship easier

Darb keeps making suggestions as to how these guys can save time and they're blowing it off saying it wont make a big difference. How do you think he got ahead!? By several small victories! That is the difference in a winner and a contender! Anyone who has speedrun original SMB will know the little time saves are the only thing that separates first place from someone outside the top 100!

I've been playing games since I was two years old. My first console was the Atari VCS. I like watching speedrun videos, but I can't help but feel that they kind of suck the fun out of the games. I can't count the number of times I heard the speedrunners in this video say "I used the strat", and "I hate that level". I get that speedruns are a different beast from just playing the game casually, but damn, this is like a whole new level of clinical, apathetic, robotic gameplaying. Am I the only one who feels this way?

He's switching between tasks. If it makes you feel any better, though, nobody can. People who think they're good at it, just can't tell how badly they're doing at all of the things they're trying to do at once because they're doing too many things at once and are unable to monitor their performance in any. People who are good "multitaskers" are good at changing focus from one thing to another.

I notice in speedrunning level 9+ in "Lost Levels"/Mario 2 doesn't seem to count. I also notice Mario is always used, I used to always use Luigi since he could jump farther.

He can’t. The TAS uses left+right movements on the d-pad to save framerules at certain points. This isn’t possible on a regular NES controller. So I’d say the closest he could get is around a second behind TAS?

Hi, how come you use the shortcut of 6-3 to the end of the level, and use the same trick at 3-1 ? it will necessarily save some time
